Ok so, mesh tries to equalize the height of the creep on top of it. It is very good for creating a strong defense. So if you take a piece of territory and want to create a sort of outpost, use a SMALL bit of mesh. Mesh is actually terrible on the front line/for offense because creep doesn't flow out from mesh very much. Because of this, placing mesh everywhere is actually WORSE than having no mesh at all. Personally, I almost never use it. Also, in addition to the little balls of creep, floods also do create small waves of creep. Each one acts as an emiter that produces like 100 creep every 20 seconds (I might be wrong on the exact numbers though). They are a long term investment, making the early game slower, to make you more powerful in the late game. Hopefully this helps. I really love your Creeper World videos and hope you keep making more.
Mesh is actually very good on the frontline when combined with a field gen. The gen pushes creep out of the mesh and new creep flows from the backline along the mesh to equalize. You can create a creep highway like this.
@@Blobernik52 stash also comes in handy by pushing a lot of creeper out at once in cycles, most defenses can take care of creeper but they can't take care of too much at once like at 5:45 if there was a stash there then it could have had a large area of creeper all at once
i always presumed those "fill me with a metric ton of creep, then i become a crappy emitter" units were balanced that way on purpose not everyone is the same skill, not everyone plays on the same speed. For lack of a better term, they're a "free" emitter that doesnt cost an ern, but time is their input. If you just want to win, they're there, you can spam 20, afk, and the maps easier eventually. You wont get any high scores, and the maps are virtually always beatable without them, but not everyone wants to grind their face against a wall of mortars they're not having fun winning against when they can just plop some of those down, cook supper, and come back to a more fun fight
The problem is that they consume so much creep that they rarely output enough to pay for it. Spending resources on economy is to be expected in these types of games. But that only works when you gain more than you spent. Floods tend to produce so little creep that they are straight up useless for anyone who is actually trying.
@@rendomstranger8698 They are rather funny in passive splooge runs though when you just decide to see how long until you just win by default if you only do raw numbers. But those need maps with crazy caps.
@@rendomstranger8698 exactly, their creep Inoue versus output generated before you finish the map almost always means you spent 200k creep for 50k creep... That said if you build one using an ern emitter then move the ern emitter elsewhere and use the floor to fuel blobbers or other creep fueled units they can work out as some of the other creep fueled units are extremely cost effective if you're not using an ern power getting them running.
The biggest advantage to floods is that with two emitters you can build a flood in maybe a couple of minutes (which isn't very long), then you can use the floods as the emitters to either make more floods or build any of the other special units while you move the emitters to the front line. The biggest reason the floods are bad for Tom is that he either tries to build too many or he tries to build them without committing emitters which means they take absolute ages to build.
100% of the creeper world 4 experience that I have is solely from watching Tom fumble about. And I'm still almost wanting to shout at the screen about how mesh work and how efficient crimson+emitters+field gen could be if he used it a bit differently. At around 40 minutes he kind of did what I was thinking, although still not hitting the crimson with all the emitters. I can bet he's forgotten until next video
I love Tom, but he just dicks around, not playing strategically always makes me super dickrippery. He just randomly places this and that, and ignores the advances he's had. Just hate it, cannot chill at all...
2 main uses of mesh. 1)Defensive - All creep on mesh tries to distribute equally (Same amount across mesh) meaning if a lot enters the mesh it will try to spread evenly onto all connected mesh. 2)Offensive- if you use smaller mesh trails into a big attack area. The mesh will try to push extra creep that enters it to spread to the bigger area. Making a slide to a pool
Loving creeper world, just binge watched most of them! I'd love to see something we've never seen before..."overly cautions Tom" where the aim is to not lose any towers/cannons!
I feel like this guy doesn't understand how mesh works. Should I ask? Should I explain it? "I don't really understand how mesh works and people have tried to explain it to me." Oh well that answers that, have a nice day.
I must say, thank you Tom. You made me discover this jewel and been playing for a few days now, even found a map thanking you. Keep up the great work. Wanted to do a small comment didn't work out...
This is the one thing I dislike about Creeper World (any version it seems), seems to be a pretty good average of about 45 minutes to beat a map some more or less obviously, which is great... then 10 or so maps later I'm like "WTF happened to the whole day!?"
Anyone wanna place bets on how far into the video Tom notices there's no missile launchers except on the airships? 😄 Also for Tom: Mesh "conducts" creep, so it lets it flow more quickly and up hills much more easily, and it's also VERY tough for cannons to destroy
I saw a 46 minute creeperworld video and thought Tom was going to be asking for game suggestions again. I thought this was my chance to suggest lost in random
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 765 OO very cool map :D WOOOOOO Superchill :D always such a joy, I do hope everyone is having a nice break :D Wow, those blobs really went above and beyond :D
I love these videos. I think it would be fun to do a mini episode of tom’s gameplay and someone with no idea of how this game works commentating. Thanks Tom!
it basically makes creep prioritize that area, because it flows over it easier. You would use it say to probe attack (a straight line of mesh outside of your standard wave) to climb a hill your average depth cant, or to prioritize feeding something that WANTS creep on it, like a stash or the custom PAC units that absorb creep. It also lets you cross void, but not many PAC maps seem to use that rather than flowing in all directions, it attempts to flow toward mesh till it hits a certain depth THEN flow in all directions
Tom! If you put mesh everywhere it's useless. You use it to make highways, not pave the whole world, for instance. Really love the vids you've been doing lately, good stuff. EDIT: Did a much better job with it this time, nice!
Just seeing Tom sitting there with unspend ERN bugs the shit out of me. Just leave a bunch of emitters around while you decide, then destroy them to build your plan. You're wasting free creep by having ERN just sitting there.
I've been letting autoplay take me through Tom's backlog of videos and every time I look... Is a typo/misspelling in the description of each video an in-joke?
Mesh only works if there is an emitter on it, unfortunately the creep multiplier terrain doesnt count as mesh. As for the flowrate, dont really know. But as far as I have figured out, it works as a highway for the creep, allowing it to go uphill like it was flat terrain.
LOL! i got 3 of the islands but after an hour i just cant get that 4th island! I dont really have a clue as to what does what as far as creeper because i always play the other side but being creeper is fun! I just suck really bad at it!
All i can think of when Tom says mesh is (niche reference here) one of Alan's Anecdotes from QI about his nephews at the zoo. "What's mesh?" Especially when Tom didn't really know what mesh does.
YES! Finally i did it! Took me 2:33:15 yeah i know over 2 and half hours! But i did it i used some of your tricks! Basically once i got a foot hold i would push on one side while i just held the other sides 1 or 2 emitters with a crimson to act like my shield that always held the line. Then i started to build the special called flood when one was done i'd build another a few spaces away before long i didnt need any emitters and could move them to other areas once creeper was pushing on their shields i would take a launcher to break their shields and the creeper would wave over and kill everything.once i had enought flood all i needed was to put the crimson at the front and eventually it waved over the middle area and i won the game! Thank you for the video it helped alot!
I enjoyed how the invulnerable ammo boxes allowed for the defenders to maintain a minimum production. It's a little to easy when you're able to put them at a deficit and their strong defense just collapses into nothing.
Couldn't you just place an egg generator underneath the Zeus/Thor and let the spikes of creep from the Zeus/Thor shooting the eggs take him out? The creep spikes should also help recharge the egg gen, too.
It seems to flow about 2-5x faster on mesh, to the point where it can sometimes have a much higher amount than over non-mesh areas That's what it looked like to me
