I have pondered this question, as I read about the believers that were burned alive for refusing to covert, for printing or having a Bible. What grabed my heart is how many of them sang hyms of praise as they died. Our ABBA is able to redeem them from the ashes.

Here's my thought... I will be dead, so I don't care! Let them do with me whatever God gives them power to do; because, no matter what, He's the resurrection and the life!

Amen! My thought is, with so many people dying in fires and drowning and not being buried in the ground, there is no way cremation can be a sin. When my time comes, I want to be cremated and sprinkled in a garden. Someone else can have my spot in the cemetery.

Aren’t we going to get new bodies anyway? Even if buried we will return to dust. Many martyrs and other Christians throughout history were burned to death. Burial is my preference but a close relative who was very crippled was cremated and we were surprised but don’t think it’s wrong. A burial place is nice for the relatives to be able to remember a loved one but it’s a tradition not a command.

Just want to point out that in burial, even with complete decomposition of thousands of years, bones remain. "Son of man, shall these bones live?" Inside bones is marrow, and therein, blood, albeit perhaps dried. "The life is in the blood." Think also of cultures who burn their dead, such as Hindu; those who hold no hope of any resurrection. The plain truth is we just don't know, but I am with Bill on this, what is good for Yeshua is good for me. Shalom.

@@hildapage7065 True. I definitely want to be buried. Joseph thought his bones were important enough to have an oath made on their behalf. Burial of the righteous happens a lot in the Bible but in 2 Chronicles 34 the bones that were burned on the altar to cleanse Judah were of wicked priests.

Burial seems more honorable than cremation. I have family members that believe its a sin.
