I'm glad I watched your video. This was an excellent comparison and really highlights the capability of the F model, which appears to have a lot more low-end torque than the R model. And that's really what you need for trails and climbing hills. Plus the R is way too high maintenance. I've been thinking about selling my CRF100 and buying the 150F. I think this video has convinced me that the 150F would be a great trail bike. I'm not a little kid either, I'm just a full grown adult who likes the small trail bikes. Easy to ride, easy to lift over logs, easy to load in the truck, don't use much gas, etc. Anyway keep up the great work!
The one that’s air cooled is “farm bike” the water cooled is one to match up and race against 85 2-stokes. Same as how they can race the cr250r to the crf450
I've got a 2004 150F an I love it. It's literally unkillable. I've brought it through rivers that were almost above the air box and buried it in mud up to the fenders. The thing is a absolute blast to ride in the trails and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a cheap beater bike or a beginner. The only thing I've had trouble with is the fuel mileage, it's not hard to run out of fuel especially if you are riding fire roads where you are pinned but it's an absolute unit of a bike an don't think I'll ever sell it.
I have an 06 150f that has had a bunch of work done to it (Aftermarket muffler, re jetted carb etc) and it has also been geared down. That thing will pop a wheelie if you just hit the gas, idle up steep hills, yet it will dig a rut 4 inches deep and climb up nearly anything.
Nice QR’s great review, like to see the Honda models compared and raced around. You all know how to have fun, and appreciate you all spending hours of time cuttin’ videos and cost of equipment to do great filming. Screw the haters you all have been friends forever, and having a blast !! Happy thanksgiving 👍 F’ing 👆✅
I have a 2017 150f. Love it. Bought it new and have been thrashing it for the last 5 riding seasons and it’s never died. I mostly ride sand and honestly, once your comfortable, there isn’t much these little bikes can’t do. Only thing to keep in mind is that with the steel frame it’s quite a bit heavier (I wanna say 230 ish lbs but I don’t feel like looking it up) than other bikes when you consider how much power it’s making. These aren’t really just kids bikes, I’m 6’1” 170lbs and I’m still sending it up the same hills as my buddies on their new 250s. That being said it’s a great bike to learn on. 2nd or 3rd gear pinned it’ll make it up anything, but it’s quite tame to learn on. Only thing that kinda sucks with the 150f is the lack of wheelies. I can clutch up in first and make my way to 3rd but beyond that it doesn’t have enough power to stay up. Great little beater I’d be surprised if you could kill it. If you want a little power it isn’t hard, air box and exhaust are pretty restrictive, but both have easily removable restrictor plate/baffle, and re jetting is pretty easy. One final thought if you’re taller like me, you WILL look goofy as hell on the 150, but that just makes it even better when you blast past the 250 squids
Quad Ricers I gave it a check! ✅ been here since 150 subs! Keep up the good work, and happy thanksgiving, 219 likes, 1 dislike, prod that the vids are great!
man y'all keep doing y'all fuck the hatters and I love the videos I'm only subbed to 3 people now and I just started a Chanel for my self don't know much about it yet but I'm getting there I would appreciate if u would sub to it I don't have any yet and keep up the bad ass videos and have a happy Thanksgiving
When your 6'5" you don't really fit on "pit bikes", so what i meant was... this would be a cool substitute for a pit bike. I know it's a race bike and I know its not what is considered a "pit bike" lol
I agree with your review 100%. I ride trails and am not a pro by any means so after riding both I bought the CRF150F and it does what I want. It was cheaper too. I mostly ride my quad though, a Honda Rancher. Quads for life! Love your channel!
This video made the F look more comparable to the R than it really is. On trails they probably are that comparable. But the huge difference is more apparent with the suspension, and would make the R much more competent on a MX track.
I just bought a 230f, I wanted something just a little big bigger than the 150 and with a magic button. I've had bikes all my life and this is the nicest, smoothest, most comfortable bike I have ever ridden. its like riding around on my sofa.
Actually, I had a crf150r back in 2015, I was having a hard time transitioning from a 85 to a 250f so we ended up getting one to make the transition easier. On 85's I was a legitimate intermediate rider, we ended up puting well over 200 really hard hours on it without doing any sort of engine work other than the basic things you would also have to do to the 150f like oil change, replacement of broken parts, etc. I understand what you mean though, the race model is meant to have maximum power, the trail model is meant to be reliable for the next 20 years.
I got lucky and my buddy needed money, so I bought the CRF150F off him. I love it. First dirt bike i have ever had since I am a street bike 4 wheeler dude. I am really loving hitting the trails on it. Thanks for a nice comparison between the two bikes.
I rode a 230f and was pleasantly surprised at the torquey powerband. The suspension was a little soft for my stature though 🤤!!! Happy Thanksgiving Boyz!!!
Ryley Ranga it’s supposed to be, it’s a race bike, on the track your going through turns and you gotta have more low to mid end power to push out of the corner
@@halligan4x481 you mean the strength of the top end? you're comparing a four stroke top end to a 2 stroke so I mean top end comparison is moot ? unless you are talking power? still stupid not a good comparison.
You guys just cleared up a ton of questions!!! That was an absolutely perfect test for regular folks!!! I can’t believe the F doesn’t have a kick starter.. I think it might be a deal breaker
Good video and getting way better every time, keep up the good work guys. Also the Gasman should think about reaching dirt bikes he is good at riding them. That would make some good vids for the channel. Any way have a Happy Thanksgiving guys..
The 150r is much faster that the trail bike. In this case it doesn't matter the bike it the rider. If they both knew how to ride the bike to its full potential the 150r would smoke anything
@@jorgeduarte882 you're way too tall for 150r. Even with big tires. I've read the max height for 150r is 5'7" - 5'8". If you're 6'1" get a 250 and just take i easy until you get the hang of it. Trust me, you would be way too.cramped on the 150r.
I had a CRF 150RB back before I got into street bikes, before that I had a CR 85(think it was also bigwheel but not sure). HUGE difference between them. The moment I got on the 150R holy crap the thing had power everywhere! Plus dat sound. The 85 had all top end power, but when you ripped it, it flew. When you get on the pipe on that thing you are just immediately shifting gears one after the next. I really wasn't ready for a two stroke, and the mixed trail and casual course riding I was doing was not really what the 85 was built for. The 150R on the other hand took everything and kept on chugging. The only times it was out of its comfort zone would be on longer higher speed tracks where the lack of a 6th gear really hurt it, that and a technical hill climb where I had to get off and push the bike, it ended up overheating and venting coolant. That was the only time it ever vented coolant. Remember, no fans on these things. In the end, I like the 150R far more. The two stroke was built to rip, and that wasn't what I was doing with it 24/7, plus the sudden onset of power when it comes on the pipe caused me to crash twice in one day, so I decided I had enough. The 150R sounds SEXY too. No regerts. If Honda decides to make a 150L or put that engine in a sport bike, I will be very interested. But they won't. :( They had a chance to bring back the four cylinder CBR 250RR, but they reincarnated it as a two cylinder. It seems they don't want to show off their engineering in little bikes anymore.
@ I'd actually go with both and then you can ride either one depending on if you are going Trail Riding or Racing I would actually prefer to ride my Yamaha Dt175 Enduro I've rode Track and Trails
Sam Lee Did you not see them washing the bikes? They weren't very careful. Mist and spray still would have gotten into the exhaust and is really bad for the bike.
Considering that the Mechanic likes to break plastics, I'm glad he did loop out the 150R! :D This video was a nice change of pace, but I hope the next one will bring back the beautiful ear rape and maybe the whistle loop...
My first bike was a 150rb loved it was a blast and a great starter bike, my buddy had a 150r was a little slower but basically same bike we had a blast riding did a lot of trail riding and sand dunes
David pelkey 2 stroke is shit hence why they're tryinh to make electronic but it turns out the same weight as 4 stroke then ? So basically is personal preference ..horses for courses
It’s all called telescopic forks, the outer fork slides into the other. The two types you have of these are “conventional” as the F model has and “inverted” or upside down forks on the R :)
The mechanic always seeming like him being part of a video is a hassle. Mr. I could be doing something else with my time every time. When this channel goes huge as it probably will he's the only one out of the 4 that doesn't deserve it because what he contributes to the channel is dogshit.
If that's truly what you think, you must be clueless. You don't know any of us in person and you have absolutely no right to assume that somehow being in the video is a hassle(?). We dedicated almost the whole day to filming, and it's rare that I can actually be in a video because I work so much. You're obviously just here to create drama and contribute nothing of value, so you can get the fuck out.
Great comparison video. Super place to ride. I was up in the air. But after video going with the R. Just for clearance reasons and almost twice the HP. LOL. Liked and subbed
I was out riding today out at the mountains I live near and saw some kids riding around on a 2019 KTM 65 sx and a 2013 Honda CRF150RB and they were killing it for some little kids sending some of the doubles that were just rebuilt
