No 1 reason in an overcast condition Shami was excluded who has exceptional record against kiwis and was in great form in this year world cup. We could have restricted them to under 180 if shami was playing. In world cup knock out match even score of 225-30 is match winning scores if you bowl and field well.

Rohit,Dhawan,Kohli & Dhoni have been winning matches since last 3-4 years and in way middle order hasn’t been tested coz never been put under pressure. Whereas during Dhoni’s tenure, middle order was more responsible and competitive with the likes of Yuvraj & Raina. Too much match winning knocks somehow keeps middle order untested ,hence get exposed often at big matches i.e. CT17 & WC19.
