It’s a great light, however I feel like they lost 75% of their consumers with the price point. If it was under $100 I would have considered it, but I’ll stick to my current lighting.
@@JenniferMaker I absolutely love the lamp! I just really wish I was around $75-$100 instead of $200-$250. There is just no way I could justify that cost. I feel like they missed the mark when they made a lamp cost the same amount as a machine
I was excited until I saw the $280 and $350 prices (Canadian $) I have bad eyes so I'm always looking for good lighting. I ended getting the extra wide clamp from Ottlite after looking around for better pricing. Perhaps they'll reduce the price on the cricut lighting items someday.
A hanging LED shop light from Lowes or Home Depot is $50. It has a pull string and is super bright for lighting my space. It has a heavy duty long cord/plug and uses the wall outlet as the power source.
@@kaz6655 I have a little ottlite I found for 25 bucks at micheals. It's pretty decent. I am getting to reading glass age and might get the magnifying one in a few years. :-)
Thank you for your honest review. I agree with the majority about the price. It's funny how companies think that having a huge price tag will entice more people to purchase. The only reason to have a high price tag is if the material to make the product is hard to get and/or they can't make a lot of them. With as many Cricut crafters and crafters in general, you would think they would sale these lamps at a reasonable price tag so we all could afford to buy it. Cricut would still make a killing in profit and dominate the market. But who am I to say, I'm just a crafter who loves a deal and these lamps aren't it although it appears they are designed very well.
I have the Ottlite that you shared, but I use the table clamp instead of the heavy base. This keeps it off my desk and increases the flexibility some. I find that it has a huge range of motion including the articulation at the base (I don't recall if the heavy base includes this or not) as well as in the arm itself. I happened to get mine at a very good price ($65) and have been very satisfied with it overall.
Lighting helps A LOT this is more than I can afford but I think it will help many people who can afford it 💯♥️ I wish the cord plugged into the base is my only thing aside from cost because the functionality is 💯 on point
This is just a phenomenal lamp. Just had the floor version delivered. I am in awe! Thank you for introducing this lamp. I wished, I had known before purchasing a few others that are not the greatest. This is impressive!
I haven't even looked at the price, but I'm sure it's pricey. For me the ideal lamp coming from Cricut would be one that no only works on your desk, but offers the option of floor AND a magnifying attachment. Now that would be my dream lamp. I guess I still have to wait.
Thank you so much for taking the time to compare the lights! This information is very helpful. To be honest, the color is an added bonus for me! I love it!
Man I love the Cricut products, and they make up many of my RU-vid videos - but I also am not sure I could justify the price tag along with it. That being said - it looks like a very cool product! And definitely competes well with some other products, maybe even better than them for the design advantages. Maybe one day Ill get to try it out myself :)
The desk lamp would have been ideal if it came with a caddy that had an electrical outlet and 2 USB Ports. It would have been great if both lamps came with gooseneck lighted magnifiers. Cricut should ask for suggestions from their Cricut community on what features they would like to see in upcoming new products. They want to surprise us with new equipment, and then, they have to read lots of negative comments from disappointed people. I love the new floor lamp, but wish it had at least a magnifier for the price. I still plan to buy it with some discount coupons. Thanks you Jennifer, for a great review and demonstration!
A lamp. A $199-$249 lamp. The same people who is still selling that brightpad which came out in Summer 2017 at $59. SMH... Look, it's a very nice looking lamp. And of course if one is a diehard Cricut fan like myself well, OF COURSE it's desirable and tempting. But... Who pays $249 for a craft lamp, when there's SO many LED lamps out there for a fraction of that price? Money that can be spent on vinyl, blanks and shirts, tools, and all sort of materials? In the immortal words of Randy Jackson, "that's a no from me, dawg".... Cricut, as much as I love their stuff, is out of touch with reality when it comes to pricing. Yeah, initial investment on a machine can be expensive.. Or viceversa, and then you make the money on vinyl and materials, but no. The machines are expensive and the materials too. That's burning the candle on both sides, because someone with talent can see such an initial expense and just flat out never tries. And that business model is hurting the company because no one can just go and build a Cricut and sell if but they CAN make and sell tools that look great and work great, and vinyl that sometimes is even better that what CRICUT has (like, how come there is no Puff 3D HTV yet from Cricut? Really, do that makes any sense to you?) We understand that the company needs to make a profit but they definitely need to recalibrate, and realize WHO their customers really are. And here's a hint: Is not precisely the demographic that can nonchalantly shell out $249 for an LED lamp. Is the people who wait for sales at Michaels, that's who.
Thanks for giving us an honest review and comparison! I'll agree with many of the people here. I just can't justify the price. Also it would have been so simple for Cricut to make this a 2-in-1 lamp instead of 2 separate lamps. I'll keep looking for a craft light.
The lights seem amazing! Honestly, the price is a huge negative. But of course I would love it! Knowing Cricut, they will probably sell an accessory for the table top lamp. It will be crazy priced too!
I used a little table lamp (no brand name) that can collapse down and be adjusted with warmth and brightness and move in any angle. it works great. and i can easily move it away. can do all the cricut brand can do, without that price tag. I think Cricut is just reaching right now to get $$ on anything and everything.
My takeaway is that this is like the Cadillac of LED craft lights. So it’s better, yes, and the value is there for the price, yes. We get what we pay for … lower price means lower quality. I could see this really clearly when I unboxed each of the lights I bought for comparison - it was a HUGE packaging difference, HUGE feel-in-hand difference. In retrospect, I wish I’d recorded that part for you to see in my video, but I didn’t think it mattered in the beginning. The Cricut Bright 360 is a superior product, yes. If you can afford it and have a need for it, it IS worth the price.
I found the Cricut Bright 360 lamps on Black Friday sale 2023. Cost was $117 for the floor lamp, so I grabbed it! So, watch for holiday sales if you want one of these lights. It is definitely the best sewing/crafting light my 71-year-old eyes have used.
Thank you for the comparison. I agree with many of the comments below. This is more than I can spend on a light. I use the Ottlite that includes a magnifier, which was a Christmas present (and I know it was bought on sale) and this works for me.
I have an Ottlight floor model. It has started coming apart at the base, where the pole connects. It also came with a tray that was supposed to connect to the pole, never could get it to stay on. I love the circut floor lamp. I paid over $100 for my Ott and it still works. Will definitely consider the cricut when I get tired of fighting with my Ott. I am sure they will have a sale soon.
I remember shopping for an ottlight years ago at the height of scrapbooking. Wasn’t ever able to afford the nice pole lamp. But have admit I remember the price being quite high back then.
Thank you for your honest opinion on these lamps, Jennifer. I wouldn't have room for either one, but if I ever do, I'll know where to get one. Thank you!
So $250 US translates to $325 CDN... Yikes!!! That's a pretty far stretch for a craft light... I will watch to see if they go on sale.... (Even then it would need to be at least 50% off).
Thx hon! You're the best! I love everything about this light. Especially the 360 bonus. It is perfect! However I could almost buy a new Cricut machine instead for that price! Cricut must know inflation is huge right now? I really would love to have this but I'll have to wait for a good sale. Thx for sharing all your cricut knowledge and being so honest💜
I love it! It’s definitely something I would save up for. 👍🏼 Yes, it’s expensive, but a coupon code or a sale would be awesome! I have wasted so much money on less than impressive lighting.
Thank you for your review. I wish Cricut would have made the lamp white. Hopefully, they will in the future. At which time, ill be sure to purchase it.
Because of the way the arm sticks out, I could see someone in my house or my dogs knocking into the arm if the lamp was pulled down. Also I can't see the need for pulling it down that close to the table. for any of the lamps. The whole part where you showed pulling it down that close to a project is unreal for me especially if it's that bright. I have an ottlite with a tray that's on my desk and once I set it in the correct position I have never had the need to keep moving it around to see something better. IF that light died, I might consider one of these, but I don't think it's that amazing
It bothers me that the lamps can't be taken apart once assembled. Also, I've had LED lamps and when the lights go out they are not replaceable. I had to throw them away. No matter how many hours you tell me an LED light should last, I've never had them last as long as they should. I do LOVE the look and the flexibility, but I want to know if the lights are replaceable.
The Cricut Bright 360 uses long-lasting LED bulbs that are rated to last more than 40,000 hours. That would last over 13 years if you used these lamps for eight solid hours a day, every day of the year!! And you don’t need to worry about changing them, because the LED bulbs are not replaceable-which is very typical for other broad-head LED lights like this.
The movement of them is fantastic! Reminds me of the surgical/task lights we have in the ER and hospital. I’m not sure that I want to spend $250 on the lamp though. Even though my current lamps have such harsh shadows. I’m going to try the light pad for a while and see if that makes things better. Thank you so much for doing this very honest and thorough review!
I have an Ottlite floor lamp. Comparing it to the Cricut lamps, I say they are worth the price, but they are still too expensive for me to be able to buy one. I love the extra features on them! Especially the floor lamp would be great for taking photos of products if you you sold your crafts. For hobby business owners, I think that these lamps would be worth the cost.
Jennifer, thank you so much for the fabulous review! You're so awesome! I ordered the table lamp and will be getting the floor lamp when I get into my new house. I'm super excited! Thanks again!
I'm totally sold. They are pricey, however, as a photographer who also has professional studio lights, I completely understand the value of good lighting. Being in the market to add a task lamp to my crafting studio, I really appreciate your comprehensive review and comparison. I do have a DreamBox coming (patiently waiting since June 25) with both the right and left tables, I'm thinking the floor lamp will better suit my needs? Maybe you can shed some light on this and illuminate me....puns intended.😊
Agreed! Also curious to see how much the access subscription + coupon codes bring the price down. 👀 If I can use the floor lamp for simple + quick product photos - it’s going to be a game changer! Also just realized that we liked each others comments on the official Cricut post on FB - recognized your name! 😂 So sad to see all the negativity about the release. 😭
@@ashtondeatherage-voth7603 Hey Ashton! Great minds think alike! I know what you mean about the naysayers. With Premium Access and hopefull the code, the cost is well worth it for great lighting. There is nothing else on the market that compares to this! I'm so excited!
Excellent video👌👍. You made it easier for me as I was contemplating which light to buy for my craft projects. I am so happy that I will subscribe for your membership. Thanks again Jennifer Maker😊
Thank you for this great review. My vision is declining because of Macular Degeneration and my current lamps are not working for me. Nor is the lamp that was used by my dad when he was legally blind from the same eye disease. I think this may be what I need. It is pricy, but if it works I can continue drafting cards and more!
Just thought I’d share…My eyes aren’t what they used to be, and my craft space is limited. I really wanted the Cricut Bright 360 Lamp, but unfortunately it didn’t come in white. I did a lot of research and ended up purchasing the Neatfi 3,500 Lumens Ultra LED Touch Control Task Lamp with Clamp from Amazon for $169.95 plus tax. I couldn’t be happier. It doesn’t spin around, but the light is amazing and the shade is 26” wide. It also has 5 brightness levels.
Great review! These are pricey but I feel like they are trying to compete with high end craft lighting. I've seen several that are comparable to this price point. I haven't made that kind of investment so I can't say how performance compares. I do like my LED Ottlite but this does seem a step up simply by virtue of the large lamp size. I'll definitely keep an eye out for a sale on them!
Thank you for your review. Although it is very nice and something that I would love to have, there is no way I can justify spending $200+ on a lamp. For those that can afford it, I am jealous!! 🤣
I absolutely love you! You are so honest and you have amazing integrity which is hard to find these days. I find the lamp way overpriced. The other thing is I like to go to weekend crops and think it is too cumbersome. Can you recommend the best light for traveling?
Thank you! I would have to think about that as I do all my crafting at my home or in my studio. I was really impressed about the temperature adjustment from warm to cool light.
I agree with everyone about the price, it is pretty expensive, but Mrs. Jennifer pointed out a good amount of pros for this new product. And just as a lot of y’all mentioned, a magnifying glass attachment, and perhaps an add on desk clamp, would be wonderful. As far as cost goes, let’s not forget how much everything around us has increased. From the cost of materials to make the product, to the cost of labor to build it, then we can’t forget getting it to us, every time we turn around we are paying more and more for things we need and won’t. Maybe the price will come down, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon. And I don’t believe we are going to be happy replacing our current lamps when they break. 😒
I just got the desk lamp as they are now $129!! I absolutely LOVE it!! I may get the floor lamp this week as I think the sale will be almost over! I have Cricut access so I got 10% off as well!
Thank you for your honest appraisal. I am in the market for a good sewing lamp and this looks amazing. Ages before it's available in Australia though I bet. Anyway you have given me some insight into the other lamps and what to look for too. Cheers!
I have a floor lamp very similar and works just as good as the one being shown here.I got the floor lamp plus a bonus table lamp from Walmart. Works identical to this one.
Thank you, great review! I love these lights - but not available in Australia, even if I could afford it, so an easy decision at the moment. I do need a desk light though, so the hunt continues.
I do agree the price is crazy high, but I have bad eyes and really have found the other lights lacking. So I tried it after this video! I have two now and can see better than ever so for me it was worth every penny. I did use my discounts on design space and waited for a sale.
I craft in my basement. Got some of those led lights to screw into my 💡 bases that gave the pull cord. Bright as day down there now. Can’t justify that kind of price for a lamp. 🤷🏼♀️
After watching the review, I think I will keep to my Ott Light with a magnifying glass- it works for me and for the crafts we do in the house, plus helps when the girls think they have lice.
Thank you for the review. This lamp looks like it will be perfect for my needlework. Too bad there isn’t magnification for it. I also think the base will fit better for under furniture. I currently use an Ottlite floor lamp. It works ok but I need more light. Yes, the price on this is a bit high, but it’s cheaper than Stella lamps.
Thank you for your in-depth review. It definitely would be extremely beneficial to me, I am being treated for macular degeneration so most tasks can be a challenge. Unfortunately the price point is out of my budget since I craft for “therapy” not to sell. It appears to be a high quality light source so it will sell just to a smaller market due to cost.
This looks amazing, but I am very disappointed, but not surprised, by the price point. As others have said, I will have to wait for one heck of a sale! Thank you for the great review and comparisons.
I am considering getting the floor lamp for my craft room. I also do jigsaw puzzles and wonder how it would work with them. Right now the only good time to put them together is during daylight hours.
Thank you for sharing this will us but the price point and the fact that the cord doesn't seem very long I will stick with my Ottlite which works just fine.
Nice lamps, and thanks for the review on them - and comparing them to other lamps. But as you stated, they are pricy. I guess I'll stick with the old Acme Lite table lamp we use which has a florescent light and a incandescent bulb for the time being. Maybe the Cricut lamps will go on sale at some point and be more affordable. And I loved the reminder about winter light - I forgot how gray the light was for weeks on end when I lived in Michigan.
I do have to note regarding OttLite: The light does depend on the model you get. I have one of their LED Magnifying lamps which uses high CRI LEDs, so gotta ask when comparing your Cricut Light to an OttLite, why not compare the LED models in your comparison?
@@JenniferMaker I had to wonder. :) I think it matters on the model year and when they switched. I know that this model has been out a few years, maybe they were making a transition? Though I am not sure how you have had yours. I used to use CFL in everything, especially gardening, but I am slowly making the switch to 90+ CRI lamps and am hoping for a better result with the indoor garden as well. :) Let me know what you find! :) I just found your channel and as I have always been a big light person and as someone who is into colour theory in a big way, I love seeing light reviews. You have my subscription; I like what you do. :) Found you via Reddit, btw.
