Cricut Maker: What Materials Does it Cut? 

I love my new Maker and also experimented with intricate cuts on felt... I was blown away at what it could do! It does a beautiful job on real wool felt too! Has opened up a whole new world for me.

First, your craft room is amazing. Second, I have had my cricut maker for 4 months and never realized that there was a storage compartment in the front. Great video

I've been experimenting with my Cricut Explore and it cuts felt perfectly well if you know how! You have to use the Deep Cut blade and make sure you get the settings right. Also there's a trick with the heat & bond. If you don't know the tweaks to doing this you will get the ripping and poor cut that you displayed from your trials. I love my Explore. I think the Maker looks fantastic but I don't need to cut wood or real leather, but it would be good for cutting fabrics for small projects without the heat & bond of course. I shall wait to see if the cutting knife comes out on time and works well and what other surprises are in store, as the ads say there will be further tools coming. Oh, I also heard that the rotary blade, when cutting felt, ruined the cutting board even on the lightest setting. Have you found that to be the case? I'd be interested to know as many people have complained about that. Thanks for the video and all the information.

Most of those things I did with the explore - I cut extremely detailed designs in everything from paper to copper

Omgosh absolutely loved your video... I have the very 1st cricut made I have learned not to upgrade for a few years because bigger and better things come along... just like my cell phone i had the 1st Iphone for 7 yrs and my children kept telling me to upgrade i said it's not broken i'll wait just upgraded this year... anyway after 10+ yrs decided to upgrade my cricut to the maker I am in awe of the things i can now do your video has helped sooo much bc upgrading can be intimating but you have helped me soo much.. i have subscribed can't wait to see the knife blade :)

I just googled cricut because I had no idea what these machines did other than had something to do with scrapbooking. I have never gotten into scrapbooking as I have so many other hobbies, but your video enticed me to look into this field further. What made me nervous were all the (well organized) cubbies in the background with all the wonderful products to make endless projects! Would love to see some of your finished products and what you do with all that stuff! Loved your video, btw. If I buy one of these machines, this looks like a Cadillac version!

This is so helpful to me. I’ve been debating on the maker or the Air 2. I love that the sky’s 5he limit for ideas with the Maker. I still have a Cricut Expression and a lot of cartridges. The Maker doesn’t have a port for cartridges. The Air 2 has one. I really like the way the Maker cuts materials.

Have you ever tried using the cricut maker to cut Self Adhesive Bandage Wrap, Cohesive Tape such as vet wrap?

This is a great video. I sew and teach sewing lessons. If the Cricut Maker has a rotary blade, I would expect it be able to cut everything from paper to leather and everything in between. I'm considering getting this to incorporate into my sewing classes.

With bonded fabric you need to remove the backing paper before cutting. It would cut fine on the older model :)

I just recently joined a crafting site & have become ADDICTED!! 😳😂 I have always been creative but kinda went through a slump for awhile. And now I'm totally getting my mojo back & my gears are churning again! 😂 And I just HAVE to mention how you're one of those awesome, unique people with that gorgeous red hair & BLUE eyes!! So what do you actually DO with a leather doily or a paper tag? Show some finished words on wood, etc.??? The material info was what I was looking for... it was toward the end, made sense.. I want to cut flannel for rag quilts FAST... I think this will do the trick plus some! Thanks!

GREAT tutorial. I just purchased a Maker and am amazed at the projects I will be able to do. You mentioned bonding to fabric in order to get a clean cut. I have some card stock without a sticky back that I would like to cut and put on a glass container. Would the bonding agent work? Obviously, it would not be washable. Thanks for making it simple.

I think I need this! LOL Would be very helpful if you either used all dark fabrics, or else hold up the items in front of a dark backdrop. It was easyt o see the leaf and the denim, but the rest were hard to see. But I still love the video and your demo!

Did you cut the adhesive cork face down on the mat? Did you put it on a transfer sheet on the mat? What setting did you use? I am experimenting and not satisfied yet. I have not used the rotary blade yet so that is a good tip. My fine tip blade left a big mess. Thank you Angie.

I have just purchased the Explore 2 Air and have not even used it yet. My goal is primarily applying fabric lettering and designs to t-shirts. After watching this video, I'm wondering if I should repack the Explore 2 and purchase the Cricut Maker based on "improvements" in cutting and the extra blade functionality. What do you think?

Very nice info....but I would like to see if it would wood veneer and do small marquetry for woodworking projects. When are they going to make a cricut that is bigger than 12 inches wide..maybe 18 or 24 would be great.

I am purchasing a cricut maker, therefore I am very new at this. I want to make a rag quilt out of flannel. On some of my squares I would like to put letter fonts. Such as: Class of 2020! CONGRATS! I am not sure which route to go yet and being a beginner I want to keep it basic design until I know what I am doing. Can you help me? I should be getting my machine next week.. Again I am using 100% cotton flannel.
