Hands down, one of the best albums ever. I bought it the day it was released when I was 11. I turned 61 an hour ago. Wow, it's been 50 years?? I just realized I'm on my wife's youtube account lol. She was born in 1979
Definitely top 25 record all time. Serving notice they were a force to contend with for years to come! What a library by this band, Breakfast in America may be a top 25 record as well! Awesome band, with impactful lyrics & great music.
This was one of the biggest releases at the time. I was lucky enough to record them for the live Paris album in Miami. I was recording stage manager this was the only band i was so starstruck i stayed glued to stage. All 2 track meters on board were in red because they were paranoid of being bootlegged
I wholeheartedly agree that this album is an absolute masterpiece, their Mt. Everest. It has the right mix of artistry and easy. Some of the later stuff was a bit too much on the easy side for my taste. It is incredible creative, almost every single song on this album has multiple changes included, which other bands would have used to stretch over an entire album. The production is fantastic, it sounds gorgeous even by modern standard. It is dynamic, means there is loud and quiet, fast and slow, gentle and forceful ... that makes it never getting tired. I rate it's musical proficiency and production even higher than the renowned "Dark Side ..." Another band that should have never separated. They are good individually but together they were incredible.
Mandy brought me here. Anyway - holy shit, I didn't realise how amazing Supertramp were. Legendary. And, no comments yet?! You're all a bunch of fools. Forget everything and listen to this
Notice at 5:15 you can hear the harmonica that starts the album off at the beginning of school. I may never have noticed that if not for the demo version which fades out with the harmonica more prominent. Brilliant!~Sebastian
A true song of our times ! Should be played over a review of the debauched and corrupt governance of the UK Conservative party....all 13 long wretched years of it ..and its mission, to boldly strip every last pound shilling and pence from our beleaguered country's coffers and it's struggling masses....from Cameron to May to Johnson to Truss to smiling (non-dom I made my millions during the crash of 2008) Sunak. They've made us all victims of their criminal reign ! 😔
Every western democracy in 2023 that operates with two major political parties opposing each other (notionally one of the left and one the right) is now facing an existential crisis decades in the making. Because left or right labels are increasingly meaningless. And politicians are increasingly meaningless as well because for the last 4 decades legislating and rule making have been delegated almost entirely to the bureaucracy - it is they who decide what is law and what isn't and when the people try to reclaim control (such as in the UK with Brexit (labelled a right wing thing) or the Greeks attempting to install a pro-Greek government unwelcome by the EU hierarchy (notionally a left wing thing) - then the bureaucrats move heaven an earth to deny the will of the people to ensure their control remains undiluted. Bureaucrats and so-called experts always regard themselves as the smartest guys in the room and believe people are too stupid to have a say and so are quite content to undermine democracy to perpetuate their stranglehold. As of now being 'right' wing or left wing means nothing to the running of a country when your notional representatives have handed over power willingly to faceless and unelected 'experts' who live in the shadows. And Labour is as corrupt and ineffectual as are the Conservatives - just a different form of corruption. Both sell out the majority of Brits every time they open their collective mouths. They are both as useless as each other.
@@BenDover-lg4wvDefinitely disagree. Rush is way more popular. King Crimson, Yes, and Genesis are also more highly praised in the Prog Rock community.
