I worked for Mrs. Nixon in the early 1980s, as a 20 year old exchange student from California. She was a delightful, generous, and adventurous spirit, who took me under her wing. I adored her so much, and her lovely name, that I named my daughter after her. My daughter was born on January 30, the same date that Roberts was arrested for her murder. The show was interesting, but I wish that it had portrayed her more as a human being. RIP, Mrs. Nixon.
That is a beautiful tribute to her. God bless you and your family. I am American and I have just found this show today on RU-vid. I am happy that they had the correct killer.
Wow! great story! Terrible what happened to her. Lovely tribute. I knew a Bronwen growing up in America, NY. Too old to be your daughter. Beautiful name.
On 4th June 2023, Roberts was denied parole. As of now, he is still in prison. His minimum term was set at 22-years, which expired in 2008, so it seems he is still too dangerous to be let out.
His parole was denied for a 9th time in March 2023. Still deemed too dangerous for release even though he is in a reduced security facility. His next hearing is in 2025
Cat bs are being housed in CAT C jails now ( 2024) Cat D is Full in fact they are letting tem go home during the day & Cat A is festooned with nonces murderers & "Terrorists" hope this tosser never sees the light of day
Brilliant series this. Real quality. Like has been said, no silly music, no corny close ups of actors staring at the camera. This is a class programme.
*thunder, rain and lightning* STURM UND DRANG!!!! Could evil have visited the Lake District?! ///advert break////Full summary of the entire case in case you just tuned in
Amazing how effective and powerful this programme was devoid of all the loud music, melodrama, overplaying and constant duplication of facts of today’s efforts... “less is more” as the old adage goes... I thoroughly enjoyed it...
Another excellent offering from Crimewatch. Does anyone else notice the slower pace in both speech and thought processes? Far more effective in building a scene but more about the times which were less frenzied . Really looking forward to watching more of these
As a Gerrman, this uploads [beside the sad events being portrayed] are so impressing and helpful. They not only do help me that much to improve my skills in speaking and understanding the english language, they are even helpful to have an insight into british culture, police work and much more. There are so many similarities to Germany in the same time frame. Makes me even more sad about the - in my view - pointless Brexit. Anyway..... let´s all stay friends. And many thanks for your work to upload this interesting treasures.
Do you remember one involving a murder and a security guard? Girl last seen talking to a security guard..they had the actual guard take part in the reconstruction and turned out to be him that done it..
I love watching these shows 30 -40 years after they aired, especially if in the prevailing years they have been done over again and again. But seeing the original perspective bring it all into focus. thanks
At 10.45, policeman says, 'The last person to see the victim alive is very often responsible.' NO NO NO. The last person to see the victim alive is ALWAYS responsible. But that doesn't mean that the person you THINK was the last person to see the victim alive, actually was. It could well be someone else that they haven't yet found. Elementary my Dear Watson.
You are wrong and the detective might be correct...If you come upon a victim of an assault and he is alive but, dies as you stand there, YOU are the last person to see him alive!,but not the killer....
One of the best things to keep in mind having been abused by a narcissistic psychopath is that they recquire constant, powerful stimulation in their emotionally crippled, dull brains.Prison would be horrible for this, brilliant.
An excellent production/re-enactment of a brutal crime. I'm delighted to have recently found this channel. I've only watched 3 episodes so far and I am impressed by the close resemblance of the actor to the perpetrator; this is one of the many aspects which I find excellent about this series. THANK YOU redcard74 !!
The actor playing David Wynne Roberts would have made a brilliant lead role in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie as Freddy Mercury, and his acting is fantastic also.
I luv watching the British crime shows and even tho these are old cases their all new to me I'm from Columbus Ohio in the states. Thanks so much for taking the time to DL these great videos for us! I've watched crimewatch the other show but I luv this show. Hope everyone has a blessed day
@@oliprj8676 Loved the comedy with the cop asking him if he remembered a bushy tache & the guy saying they get loads of those in there-that look had been made popular in 1979/1980 by the biker dude from Village People & Freddie Mercury.
Hi, actually the mustache became popular amongst gay men in the early 1970s largely because of gold medalist Olympic swimmer Mark Spitz in the 1972 Olympics.
Don't remember these from when they were originally shown- hadn't even heard of the title, so I'm really enjoying these episodes. Thank you. As with countless viewers, I too, so appreciate the lack of suspense music and 'crime-watch-daily-USA-esqe puns ( "victim had been to the barbers, but sadly, his hair wasn't the only thing to be cut short that fateful day" ...that was yesterday's gem!
I remember this CW file very well from 1990. The inadequate killer , the murdered hotel owner & the Blackpool nightclub. Poor mrs Nixon , died for nothing.
Hi im new to the Channel i have hit the bell and liked the video.Greetings from Ireland.Over here in Ireland we get BBC also.I used to watch Crime watch it was an excellent programme.I did not realise it had ended in 2017 such a pitty. My heart goes out to all the famlies whos loved ones were murderd by vile people.May they RIP😥
Do the British EVER get excited? 😁 Very good documentary! So quiet. The dude acting as the guilty dude was freaky but did an excellent job. Thanks for posting! 😷✌
We aren't very woohoo about life generally 😁( from someone who works with 6 nationalities all new to the UK & finds the culture differences fascinating ).
The actor who plays David Wynne Roberts is superb. Don't understand why he only did this. I shouldn't joke due to the tragic subject matter, but the scene at the gay bar is hilarious.
Noted an interesting anachronism - they clearly recreated the 'behind the scenes' aspect of when they aired Roberts' face on the January 1986 Crimewatch for this Crimewatch File, as Sue Cook is seen in her 1990 hairstyle, and you can see Jacqui Hames (who didn't join the show until early 1990) in the background with David Hatcher at 27:26.
He got a whole life tariff for this one and will die in custody. The programme didn't really make that clear at the end and it's obvious from some comments here many don't realise that he will never be released.
@@johndearden7931 As others have said it's a difficult one with youths. Do you condemn a 14 year old to spending the rest of their days in prison, or do you try and find the root cause of their anger and give them one more chance. I have a 14 year-old daughter, she's just a baby really. I can't imagine her going to prison for life.
@@Wally-H I fully understand what you are saying. I think 80% of us are capable of killing someone in certain circumstances. Each case has to be looked at but in this one I think he should have got longer the first time. PS. Right now I am writing a book and screenplay about a serial killer.
I was 9 years old when i saw this and likely my parents let me stay up. Gave me nightmares for weeks. I've never forgotten about it. Thank you for publishing it. I can now seek some closure. It was the car scene. Eugh.
The last person to see someone alive is nearly always the murderer unless poison is involved. It's very different from the last known person to see someone alive.
hlat9318, mustaches became popular in the early 1970s amongst gay men in large part because of U.S. swimmer Mark Spitz at the 1972 Olympics who became a popular sex symbol.
@@Nixter1974007 22 year minimum I think which expired some time ago but his parole requests, latest one this year, have been denied. He’s in an open prison apparently.
this guy is the worst of the worst he seems to blame everyone else but himself why did they release he is a very dangerous men why she was an innocent victim so very sad
10:46 ´´In the vast majority of cases the last person to see the victim alive is the murderer´´ I think you will find that statement is valid in ALL cases of murder. Unless of course the murderer is sightless.
He looks like John oats who plays the guitar in the 80s pop song which goes like this >>Watch out boy she'll chew you up (Oh here she comes) She's a maneater (Oh here she comes)… Ha ha ha ha ha
