The very first Crimewatch File, presented by Sue Cook from 10th August 1988.
I do some other Crimewatch files however most of them have been uploaded by MR James who has an excellent crime channel

Happy new year to everyone, I aim in the new year to upload some new episodes and as usual thank you for all the kind comments. Many other users do not allow comments but I do, however, can we please keep the comments pleasant, a very small number of users are posting racist comments which is a shame.
Once again can I promote the Crimewatch Facebook page set up by Andy Gibson which has around 60 members, there are some great comments and discussions there so please join.
Great to see now so much Crimewatch on youtube I make it over 150 shows and over 20 Crimewatch files and other similar shows. I hope over the next few weeks to upload more shows!

Superb first programme in this stellar series! So much intricate detail to fllow, and excellent police work. In the days when they didn't insult the intelligence of viewers as in today's repetitive and infantile scripts.

Peter Gwynn (21 min approx) was also in charge of Operation Turkey, which took place in Woolwich in 1987 and was the subject of one of the "Flying Squad" documentaries (which is also available on RU-vid, uploaded by TMEYEUK).

@@Aaron-um6jj same here. Cars all look the same now. Back then, you could tell what make and model of car it was, just by looking at it. You could tell a Ford Escort, Sierra, Fiesta or a Vauxhall Cavalier, Astra, Nova etc just by the shape of it.

After serving his sentence, David Croke went straight back to a life of crime. In 2002 he was employed by a businessman to put the frighteners on a man who was suing him. Something went wrong and Croke ended up murdering the man. he was jailed in 2002 for this and hanged himself in his cell in 2010.

@Edward Burgess I worked on hoogs place in Uckfield. He owns half of Brighton. Proper dodgy geezer. But he's a muppet. No morals whatsoever. The skinny old runt couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. I really wouldn't be surprised if he disappeared without a trace, or was found with his nut blown clean off his scrawny shoulders one day.

thanks for uploading I can't get enough of these reconstructions I think in this one the police are too sentimental with Barrett this is a guy who is described as looking the business in endearing terms when there's an innocent guy face down handcuffed in the back of a van and orchestrating having a family handcuffed and tied up overnight it must have been terrifying and they hoped he would get a lighter sentence a lot of his information wasn't admissible in court anyways

Thanks to darren nichols... the supergrass in the essex boys murder case where three men were shot in a range rover, two men have been locked up for over 20 years on the words of darren, there is no evidence to say they did it, they still protest they're not guilty to this day if they would have admitted their guilt they would have been free by now ! If you ask me there is nothing worse than a person who lives a life of crime and then turns on everyone he called a friend by grassing on them, not only that he has ruined his childrens life by basically putting a price on his name.

There used to be a super grass wing at HMP Bedford , it was certainly there un 1982 . Apparently it was only big enough for about 4 prisoners , though normal prisoners didn't get anywhere near the Wing which was located behind the gymnasium . It was closed down due to fears that the grasses were vulnerable to possible sniper attack from the multi storey carpark about 200 -250 metres away across Tavistock street .

Those "gangster's girls", like Dolly, who go from one crim to another like that, actually live off the proceeds of the crimes, yet face no prosecution whatsoever when the lads go down for it. In those days, they continued on on the outside, not charged with anything at all, and with all of the profit and proceeds from the crime(s) still at their own disposal.

These lads were crazy to include a supergrass in their team. Even had they been successful in the armed robbery attempt, at any and every moment, from that time onwards, the grass might well inform on them all. (!) .....add to that their likelihood to inform on any other crimes, people, and things that they know about once in their inner circle. I'm certainly not encouraging, nor do I condone, armed robbery (especially as a career choice), but, surely the lads knew better than, with full awareness, include a known supergrass among their ranks. That, to me, eludes all understanding.

Croke killed himself in prison in 2007. He was convicted of a murder which he committed in 2002 in collaboration with Robert Knapp, a cellmate during his time inside for this job, on the instigation of the property tycoon Nicholas van Hoogstraten, of a rival to Hoogstraten's property empire.
