I just made it last night for family...it was a great hit. The ratio of the ingredients is perfect--i recommend sticking to all the measurements given.
Kosher salt? Sorry if I didn't see in previous comments. This is the best and easiest recipe I have seen for grilled wings. Will be trying this weekend and let you know. Awesome, informative, and quick video!!!
We used fresh whole wings today and split them after cooking. I did not add oil to bag and just hit them with canola cooking spray. No Fire Marshall Bill moments. Also used Vortex on Weber.
Thanks man. The tossing in oil bit is more to get the salt and pepper to stick to the wings. If you try it out you will notices that the first toss leaves you with a bit of flour on the outside and if you left it like that you wouldn't have any seasoning. The oil on the second toss binds the rub to the first thin layer of flour so you get all that favour covering the wing. Hope that explains it a bit for you . cheers.
@@PostalBarbecue when you say cooking oil, are using vegetable oil or olive oil? Because technically you cook with both. Just need a little clarity. Anyways great video
@@BigCal-3000 given the date on this video it likely was either olive oil or avocado oil. Either way, it's not really going to change up the flavour or the cook. enjoy
I’ve been waiting for this video! I just bought a slow n sear, so now I know what I’m cooking first with it! Great video as always, and the wings looked amazing.
Just did this exactly but used a Vortex instead of piling coals to one side. But I was still cooking indirect, just more intense heat so it cut the time in half. Mine look right, but they don’t have the crunch. Sigh. That’s the one thing I was looking for and it still evades me. You think by using the Vortex and not cooking longer is what made mine not crispy?
Your smoked crispy wing recipe is the first one that caught my attention. So good, it actually made me subscribe to your channel. Can't wait for your next great grill out recipe. Grace
Roasted shallot and garlic blue chz. They sounded and looked amazing, but no boue chz threw me for a loop. I despise store bought blue chz, but if you make a quick one at home ... I mainly use gorgonzola, roasted shallots, roasted garlic, a little bit of lemon, mayo, sour cream, and a touch of heavy cream and black pepper...it might change your life.
If I just use some seasoning I have no flour or anything. Dont have access to it and can’t get anything other than the pre made seasoning I have due to Covid in my area will they still cook the same? First time grilling wings
It would be a bit harder to do but essentially you would do it by cracking the lid slightly to get the temperature up a bit hotter.. You are looking for anywhere between 375-425 for this cook. If you try it in the PBC tag me in a photo!
Tried these today but was left with a really sour taste in the mouth. I used bicarbonate of soda as that’s what baking powder is over here in the UK I think, but maybe I’ve got them mixed up?
Try putting the oil on first, then the coating. It might be easier to put the chicken in a bowl, then put on the oil, then the coating, and toss in the bowl. Good luck!
