Quick and easy and the family loves them! So many variations, add garlic, Parmesan cheese, Italian parsley. Let me know what your favourite flavourings are. 😊
Hello Flo, I am deaf (hearing impaired - not total loss of course) and struggled to hear how long you said to place the potatoes under the broiler for? If it would not be too much effort, would it be possible to have your future videos include captions vs the auto generated captions it sometimes works, but more often it does not.
Plopp R I am trying to find time to better support you all and have not had the capacity to write everything out or do more. But for this particular recipe, it's about 10 mins under the broiler with the door ajar. Always keep an eye on whatever your broiling. May take less or more time. Hope that's helpful. Thanks for your patience!
Thanks, if you would like I could help out somewhat? I don't mind doing captions on the occasional video (I will caption each recipe I cook, and I have cooked a lot of your food) I've become somewhat obsessed cooking food now with all your pressure cooker videos.
im getting an Instant Pot for Mothers Day...shhhhhh, I'm not supposed to know. so I've been searching the web looking for ppl who have recipes for it and you popped up. thank you so much, i look for forward to trying your recipes asap. HAPPY MOMMY DAY!
Ok, let me be honest here. The recipes are great and all but.... my main reason for watching them all is the interaction between the two of you. So laid back and right out of most American kitchens. Keep up the good work.
I didnt learn how to cook with my parents, so now that i left the house, i bought an Instant Pot and you're my saver. :) Thank you for all your videos, they're so easy to watch! Never stop pls, you have a lot to show me!
Just made these last night with baby gold potatoes, salt, pepper and Mrs. Dash garlic and herb seasoning. Everyone loved them! Thank you for the recipe!
Your varied content has added so much value to my cooking budget. I'm learning cooking for one on a limited budget need not be tedious and boring. Can't thank you enough Flo!
I made these today, omgoodness, so daggum good. I added minced garlic to the butter before I melted it, loovee. Also make sure whatever yer using to smash em is bigger than the potato itself for a nice controlled maintain-it's-shape smash. Thank you so much for your videos and your time, you've inspired me on more than one occasion.
I love this recipe, I find myself making them a lot when it’s my turn to cook dinner for my family. I never thought to use the instapot thought, it’s a great idea! Side note I love the homemade feeling of this channel it’s very refreshing to see 💙
I just got an Instant Pot two days ago. Second day in a row that I’ve made these potatoes. First day, I cut up regular Idaho ones. They were very good, but today I bought a small, colorful potato medley, and there is a definite improvement with the whole potatoes in terms of consistency. I’m going to try your ribs and your pot roast this week. Just watched the how to clean the Instant Pot, and it was very helpful. I’m not impressed with the written materials that come with the Instant Pot, and your videos have demonstrated how to use it deliciously. Thank you!
I just got an Instant Pot, and this was the first recipe I tried. Delicious! I’m stuffed! I’ll definitely make those again. I’m also going to try some variations inspired by this recipe. I’ll try it with Brussel sprouts instead of potatoes, and olive oil in place of butter. I’ll also try the same with asparagus and olive oil.
Hi Flo, this video made me finally pull the trigger and buy my first Instant Pot today. I have been using old school pressure cookers for years but after watching your videos you have made me a convert. This recipe is the first thing I have made, and it will now be my go to side dish from now on. Thanks for all you do!!!
+muttlee1 That’s great! I learned on an old school pressure cooker back in high school. Scared me so much I never wanted to use one again. So glad you enjoyed the potatoes!
These potatoes are amazing i took your suggestion and added minced garlic and they are the best most amazing potatoes i have ever had my kids and hubby love them as well thanks for sharing
Just found this presentation and am over the moon! Ditto your Smashed Cheesy Potato Bites. Potatoes should ALWAYS be prepared and served with their skins in place, cuz that's where the flavor resides -- or at minimum, that's where a critical element of the flavor resides. Well done!
I don't normally comment on RU-vid videos but this one was just so good that I had to come back and let you know how useful this was! And I love your personalities. Thanks for sharing - the smashed potatoes were delicious!
Love the idea of steaming them in the instant pot AND putting them under the broiler!!. I make a version of these often, but I've always boiled the potatoes, drained them, rolled them in olive oil, then smashed them, seasoned them, and then put them in a 450 degree oven until crispy. Your way sounds much faster!! I do like the olive oil roll first, and then I season them with salt, fresh ground pepper, chopped fresh parsley, and a little finely minced fresh rosemary. These are a favorite of my family. I can't wait to try them in the instant pot and under the broiler!!!
Hi Flo, I made it last week. Sprinkled some garlic powder on top of the melted butter. My daughter & I relished it. Thanks very much for the easy quick recipe.Love & best wishes from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤️
I love how you two work together and your recipes are right on. I tried making ribs with someone else's recipe and it was a mess. They called for 25 min and it was just too long and the meat fell off the bones, lliterally so it was like pulled pork. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge
My husband and I do not like onions or garlic. Thank you for showing this recipe for smashed potatoes. Finally, something we can do in Instant Pot and like it too. Thanks.
You guys are most welcome, Flo! I love that your husband does the tasting afterward! You both are so cute and I am so glad to have found your channel! These potatoes look fantastic and as always, LOVE the sound affects-very appetizing!
I just pressure cooked some little red potatoes and they came out great, so I thought I'd try to 'up it to the next level' and did a search here on youtube. And here I am. Thanks for the upgrade.
Great recipe Flo Lum. I use a small good grips potato masher to smash them, there is something about pressing down on the potatos from the top that is easier and more satisfying.
i have never heard of these.. we are part irish and love our taters... i definitely will be making thee.. thank you.. although a few years after posting.. ppl are still finding you and subscribing.. as did I.. again.. thank you
My family is a group of potato lovers and this recipe seems to be less labor-intensive than mashed potatoes. It seems sort of charming and artisan, as well. All-in-all, I think we can dig it, Flo! My mouth is watering already. Blessings! Thanks for sharing.
Dear Flo, you and your husband are enjoyable to watch and learn from. I have been watching all of your video's in the past month. Today I tried the one pot pasta recipe and it was delicious. I don''t have an Instant pot, but the MOA/Camry multicooker deluxe. All of your recipe's are still applicable on this device. And I am looking forward to learn more from your Instant pot skills. Keep doing what you do best, and that's being yourself. Greetings from The Netherlands. And Congratulations hitting that 20k subscribers!
I am going to move out to a smaller house, smaller kitchen. So that's when the multi/pressure cooker comes in handy. Do you know if it's possible to make Lasagna with the instant pot? That's one of my favorite dishes
+Amresh Jokhoe The only problem I see is that you can only make one in a small pan that can fit inside your pressure cooker. I usually make large pans. Will have to decrease my recipe. Lasagna is on my list of recipes to film. 😊
I don't see any problems then. I only have to feed my own mouth :P But I do have to take a trip to Ikea, because my cooker didn't come with a racket or a smaller pot. Looking forward to your recipe
Amresh Jokhoe Ah, some people use a spring form pan to make their lasagnas which I think is a good option. Then you can open it up to display the different layers for company. 😊
Hi. I like this recipe. It's a good way of using the really small potatoes that we sometime get left with. Now that the stores are grading the size for bags, its difficult to think of different ways to make use of them. Great !
Amazing! I love smashed potatoes. FYI...when I come over for dinner, you can use all of the garlic and butter that you want! 🤣 On a serious note... 20K to 202K subscribers. My goodness, you guys are real stars. 😊👍 ~Sharon
Yum, I plan on making these potatoes in the next few days. You and your channel influenced me to purchase an Instant Pot last summer. Never have I had so much fun with a kitchen appliance. I also gave Instant Pots to my daughter and daughter in law for Christmas and they love their IPs, too. So thank you for the videos and congratulations on hitting 20,000 subscribers! 👍🏻
+Victoria Dugan Thanks, Victoria! The IP definitely makes life a little simpler and more efficient. Glad you enjoy the videos. Appreciate the support and encouragement! ❤️
Just started watching videos about the IP, now I'm a new subscriber. You are one of my favs. You and your hubby are so cute. Nice of him to be your cameraman!
If you cook potatoes (or rice) and refrigerate it for 24 hours, a portion of the starch converts to resistant starch so there are fewer carbs in the food. The rs feeds good flora in your gut. Normally, for about a cup of rice, you add about 1 tablespoon of coconut oil to help the process.
Love you and all your videos, Flo! Would've never gotten into Instant Pot without your videos. Can't wait to to try this smashed potato recipe. Sounds and looks delish!
Great video as usual. I'm off to Costco for some potatoes. The broiler browning struck a cord with me for some reason - and makes perfect sense. We're having a shop party soon and this will be my contribution, as this is the perfect side dish for most anything. Oh, and I think people like your channel because you are sincere, easy to follow, try new techniques, use the Instant Pot (you're the reason I have one now), and clearly enjoy cooking. Plus, Dude's camera work is fantastic. Keep up the great work Flo and Dude.
Mark Fannin Thank you so much, Mark! If it weren't for kind souls like you, there would be no channel. I am so grateful for your continuous encouragement and support! Hope your potatoes are a hit!
Another great video Flo and Dude....and congratulations on 20k subscribers...you both do such a great job...this recipe looks awesome and I can't wait to try it...As always, thank you!
I love your channel! I have learned a lot from watching. I am going to start making my own sauces and marinades myself now. I love how you cook a lot of the same types of meats and veggies that about everyone cooks, but yours is varied so much! Keep up the great work 'cause I think were all loving it!!
I always look forward to your videos and my husband loves the end product! We absolutely LOVE the teriyaki sauce recipe (on any AND everything), pork/chicken adobo, and the company worthy bouillabaisse. (For every video, I felt like we had to undo a notch in the belt...so now we wear stretchy, pull up pants!) Congratulations on reaching 20,000 subscribers!
I just subscribed to your channel a few days ago, and love your video's. I just bought an Instant pot a few weeks ago and you have given me inspiration on cooking with this new appliance.
your beautiful, post quick great tasting recipes, and explain things very clearly. You should not be suprised people love your videos. Keep up the great work.
I had to subscribe. This is the first video I've viewed of yours so far. I really enjoy Dude's teasing and both of your Fun sense of humor! Great job guys!
Love the smashed potato idea.. OH that reminds me I saw your video on the perfect rice...I have had my pressure cooker for about 3 yrs and I never could get it quite right..Now I can. Thanks!
Flo, you deserve even more subs because you bring such great recipes and are a great teacher. I like how laid back you are and find your videos calm me a little. I want to try you Korean short rib recipe but have not yet. As soon as I find some short ribs I will be making them. I love this potato recipe and will probably use garlic and parm cheese. Just wanted you to know how much I appreciate what you do even though I do not comment often. Thank you so much!!----Tressa Daigle
You deserve every sub you have. You are the best! I am watching the video for the second time so I can make these potatoes tonight for my family. We are having steak and they are going to go great with dinner. Thank you so much for the recipe!!---Tressa Daigle
You filming already? I enjoy your videos, they are informative and you have natural camera appeal. I am very interested in pip cooking for the convenience of multiple dishes and time and clean up are reduced.
That really looks delicious...I'm definitely going to try this recipe. I found your channel as I was searching out any and all sous vide recipes (my Anova sous vide wand arrives tomorrow from Amazon), so I was glad to discover that you like your pressure cooker as much as like mine. Keep up the good work, Flo.
I just received my Smart Pot for my Birthday! I gave your link to my boyfriend to purchase it, so hope that helps you. Going to try these potatoes tomorrow. He loves potatoes. I'm also going to try the recipe in the manual for steel cut oats. My plan is to freeze that in small Mason jars for a quick breakfast, along with the yogurt I'm planning to make in the smart pot. I have an electric pressure cooker from Aldi that got me going on these devices, but the liner is thin and meager. It did it's job of teaching me how to use them, so an upgrade was in order. I may give the old unit to a friend who needs to learn how great these are and give her the link to your channel so she can get onboard. I am thinking when I get my RV, this is going to be the choice for cooking.
FANTASTIC! excellent recipe AND I also tried your foolproof roast you suggested to serve with the smashed potatoes - now both are on the list of family favourites. Thank you again.
