Awesome, recommendations, Dave! All bangers. I love that Girlfriends edition and Mystery Train is great. Bergman Island was a nice discovery for me last year. Fingers crossed for the sale this week!
Great recommendations. I’m a huge Jim Jarmusch having been wowed by Mystery Train all those years ago. I managed to pick up the Criterion release for about 30% off and it’s a great package. I’d also recommend Night on Earth if you haven’t seen it. I also love Girlfriends on Criterion. I love how ‘slow’ certain 70s films are shot allowing the scene to breath and actors space without so called modern jump cuts that seem to be the norm today. A modern director I do enjoy though is Kelly Reichardt with Certain Women on Criterion being a lovely release.
Thanks very much. Oh yes, I have Night on Earth too. It’s so good. Totally agree with your thought about slower films from the 1970s. Just love those types of films. I’m such a big fan of Kelly Reichardt too. Hope you have a great weekend.
