Someone tried to tell me once that no one on Dimension 20 was good enough to be on Critical Role. I swiftly corrected that person. Emily Axford was the first person to make me cry over a DnD game. She's also consistently hilarious, and a tactical nightmare in combat. A truly Amazing player, just like everyone on Dimension 20.
I mean, it’s a patently absurd premise to begin with. Lou was in Calamity, Emily is tremendous in her own right, Alley has already been part of a one shot on CR, there are no members of D20 who wouldn’t be able to hold their own at The CR table.
I think it is harder to be good funny than it is to be good dramatic. To hit comedy beats and make it natural is much harder than trying to do a dramatic beat. Compare a Drama Actor doing jokes to a comedian doing serious roles. Leslie Neilsen was great, but there's likely more like Robin Williams in One Hour Photo or Jim Carey in 23 than the other way. Dimension 20 tells short, compact tales with well timed fun, Critical Role does epic Lord of the Rings dramatic sweeping tales with humor here and there too.
@@ThatoneGuy-zd4rl Eh, there's really nobody at the core Dimension 20 table who isn't a phenomenal role player and at this point, knows the rules well enough to sit at any table. Zac Oyama's angle really is more improv/comedy than "serious" role play, but even his characters are very well understated and capitalize on a handful of tools and angles very well.
Emily is such a tour de force in DnD, she knows the rules so well that she always finds new ways to be creative. And then she does this shit, part getting lucky and part knowing how to get advantage for better odds. She's a master
As someone who "studied really fucking hard", you'd assume Prism knows the names of her spells. Well, unless she knows too many of them. Which is another kind of frightening considering we're dealing with Emily.

Nah, the owner of that shop was named Tuyen Otwana. There's actually at least one othe reference to a Prism from CR that I can think of, one of Isharnai's titles was "The Prism Sage"
