Vax: (in the afterlife seeing Grog lie catatonic on the ground after pulling from the deck) DINGUS!

Void causes Skype to conk out. Totally canon.

Grog, outside at midnight, lying on the ground. Catatonic. Holding his deck in his hands.

I love how quickly Taliesin hides his arm, like he just immediately reacts to Sam saying he lost it. Taliesin is the epitome of "Yes, and."

Fun fact: Pike's Nat 20 Perception check was the last roll of Campaign 1.

You can even hear vax yelling "dingus" from beyond the grave.

"ok if nobody has any unfinished business-" percy: "i dRAW A CARD"

I like the morbid idea that Grog just keeps pulling cards till he gets "Wish" and brings Vax back, but at that point the entire group has been destroyed or driven apart.

At the beginning of the campaign he in coma by a intellect devour, at the end campaign in coma by his own hand. Wow

It's hilarious til you just think "Aw. He wanted to get Wish so bad for Vax"

You can hear Liam off stage "You DINGUS!" *that iconic Liam laughter*

I love Liam screaming from off-set with the crew at 4:34, "DINGUS!!!" and I immediately imagine Vax'ildan, in his new ghostly form, just screaming that at Grog from next to the Raven Queen, shocking her for a moment. She wonders why he would speak so out of turn, sees what he commented on and just goes, "...oh dear..."

The timing of that. "Sorry guys, sorry Pike..." "Hello?"

Ashley's timing is impeccable. Losing internet right as grog gets sucked away, then coming back right as he's apologizing directly to her. How does that even happen.

"This is not going to be an earthshattering experience" *Percy loses an arm, a cleric of the Raven Queen dies, the party finds and kills a Corrupted Empyrean*

Matt: "Let me see what you have." Travis: "Void." Laura: "NO!"

And now, over a year later... It is canon: Percy *did* lose an arm xD

That tiny adorable "Hello?"

Ashley comes back and says “Hello?” and Taliesin looks around like “God? God, is that you?”

"I'm sorry." - Grog "Are you?" - Percy "No." - Grog Funniest thing.

"Oohhh, it got me a chair."

The best part was "alright, anything else to end the evening?" "I pull another card" "NOOOOOOO"

I love how, immediately after loosing one of their front line fighters, they loose the only other front line fighter and have to go on a high danger quest with no tank.

Ashley be like "What the Hell?!? I've been gone for 5 minutes!"

Laura being forced into an adventure to save the person she lied to about the deck is a great punishment

When they said percy lost a arm it should've flashed back to victor "Learn from my mistakes"

It's fitting that the last card Grog picks is a really bad card.

The card that Grog pulled was so extremely cursed that it was able to crashed Skype. 😂

The fact that Matt didn't necessarily have to play out the whole Percy losing an arm thing because Sam said he was making it up, but still did it makes it even more awesome!

1:44 is that actual pain in Laura's voice? I think she thought she would loose grog after, what is it, 3 years.

My two favourite things about this moment, first is that it is the one card that could have prolonged the campaign. And two, the looks on Matt’s face as he read the card effect; it went from “What does it do” to “Hmm” to “oh no” to “oh my fricken god no!”

Ashleys timing was sensational

I really hoped he would draw the 'Skull' card. Grog in a final battle against an Avatar of death would've been an epic ending. I do belive Grog would make the Avatar of Death into Death-Avatar-Stew, but it would've been fun to watch.

Grog pulling that card finally! So good! It could of been so much worse imagine If he pulled "Ruin" like in the royal rumble and emptied the bag of holding he carry's can just imagine the look Laura would give him.

It would've been badass if Matt saved Grog's reappearance for their second campaign!

This was the video that got me into DnD. I remember hearing about DnD all my life, and about a year ago I heard about this concept called "The Deck of Many Things". So, in order to have a first-hand idea of what it entailed, I searched for it on RU-vid. First couple of videos were lengthy lore explanations. Then there was this video playlist with a compilation of Grog's dealings with the Deck. As soon as I watched this, I was hooked. I immediately went to watch "The Search for Grog", and then started M9. Now I just started Vox Machina (currently on ep. 09). But come on! Grog pulling THE VOID on the literally the final few minutes of the LAST EPISODE of the first campaign? Ashley rolling a natural 20 to see this happening - only to immediately LOSE HER CONNECTION AS SOON AS MATT WAS ABOUT TO ASK FOR HER REACTION????? All leading up to GROG WAKING UP LAST MINUTE ON PANDAEMONIUM and then immediately deliver the killing blows to the Empyrean WITH TWO CONSECUTIVE NATURAL 20S???????? Truly, these 8 were chosen by the gods of tabletop to usher in a new era of DnD. No other explanation would be adequate.

This was such a great epilogue for Grog. It's literally perfect for his character. I love the image of the screen shrinking to a red pin point for two seconds and then returning to a group of angry faces.

The adventure that spawned from this moment is probably the best thing to have ever happened on this show!

I like the idea of just passing out cards to random towns people with the promise that they won't look at it until the stroke of midnight with all of them gathered in the towns square. With Grog just watching from a very great distance munching on a wooly barstool.

I'm conflicted by what happened here - but in the end, I'm totally fine with it all. After all, it's their game and went a way they were all happy with. Not to mention, the chance of a Vox Machina One Shot retrieving the soul... awesome... But - What a fantastic concept for the next campaign it would have been! The body of Grog Strongjaw, hero of Emon, lying in wait for new heroes to discover his soul and wake him once more to save the world!

This small random jinx created one of the best moments in CR history with Travis two nat 20's during the Search For Grog. Best timeline.
