This is the official petition where we demand a whole fucking season of these videos with you and your sister roasting pretentious people houses. I mean it. I want to watch it every saturday morning for the next six months at least.
here’s the thing: those quirky pieces can be a fun little dash of personality when used sparingly. but when EVERY. SINGLE. THING. in your home is quirky and random it reads just as bland and soulless as the lobby of a hotel. like, this house is the physical representation of “if everyone is special then no one is”
I really thought they did it themselves, in that case, I think it's not bad. But they had a designer... they should know there needs to be a focal point of a space. I don't know where to look. Nothing pops...
This episode is fire. Your sister is an absolute gift. She's like capers. She adds the bitterness that enhances the whole dish. Keep her for these critiques. You are perfect together.
Caper!! 👌🏻 she can say what we want to say without any consequences because she truly has no skin in the game! Caroline has the burden of being informative, educational and professional. Elizabeth can just put it out there with a giant OH PLEASE gimme a break 🙏🏻😂🙏🏻
GREAT critique per usual! Brilliant both of you. Loved every response and the positive and negative works! they - the couple in the AD home tour - are both emm kay ultrud - spell it with the letters it sounds like to find documentaries about it. see the butterflies in their bedroom - monarch pro gram ing - look that up too but spell the work programming. Also, one of the their "homage to books" is called "So You've Been Pubically Shamed". This is all part of the emm kay ultruh fame game they do to shills. House is a full detest. is there a lower level from detest.? the couple sadly fake. he seemed more authentic than she does. She's a programmed performer. disney which is owned and created for and by peeedoooz. look that up too. oh the monkeeez drinking vodka and smoking and the bird smoking wallpaper what a horrible message to be surrounded by. i'm surprised you liked that, Caroline. But, i know you were trying to be positive. the denegration of nature, the natural world by having such a theme in their bathroom just eveil in my opinion. smoking and alcohol is poison. why would they find it beautiful to surround yourself with animals in nature poisoning themselves? i find it frightening and it shows how out of touch as you said as well from themselves they are. it's all pretense and really toxic pretense. the bit out of the corn "stool" they are shilling for also - just ew. so sad kitsch attempts at some new fangled 60's "post modern" nonsense to sell some new "artist" in the AD ad. it's called "AD" for a reason. all the homes are advertising for the products in the homes. which is fine except when it's disturbingly nonsensical. anyhooo, now i want chocolate too! loove your eating popcorn or whatever! you both ROCK! look forward to more of Elizabeth on your shows and her BOOK!! Yazzz!!
They’re Ohio cool. As a person living in a big city I’ve often come across these folks living in places like Sacramento, where they are big fish in small ponds. They’re so much cooler than everyone around them that they get big egos in comparison. They wouldn’t be cool in a big city though
I really hate the proliferation of cheap looking fake moss glued to objects throughout their house. It makes me feel like Joanne Fabrics was having a sale and they raided the store.
@@kenyabrunson4985I’d like to quote my sister who’s a biologist and has taught me many useful, interesting and downright bizarr things - raindeer moss isn’t a moss, it is a LICHEN!
I loved having Elizabeth join you. She had a pure look of disgust the whole time and you were so understanding like “ but they are trying thier best” 😂 the dynamic was so fun
When Elizabeth said she was holding back I was like, LET THAT GIRL OFF THE CHAIN 😂 I wanna hear alllllll the unfiltered remarks and her laser-point accurate assessments of both the spaces and the people. Her calling out the "omage to books" not just being a shelf of books was a great moment.
“If you need a corn stool to be interesting, you’re not interesting.” Nailed it, Liz 😆 I’m not incredibly interesting but I’m certainly not claiming or pretending to be via a bitten cob.
I'm pretty sure they didn't renovate any bathrooms or kitchen. They just moved in and painted and put up wallpaper. Which is why it just feels generic and forced
Gotta say, Elizabeth really shines in the rude reviews video concept. I think she needs to be a reoccurring guest. I also love watching Caroline scramble to balance out Elizabeth’s negativity. 😂 this is the best!
okay hear me out: the corn stool makes a ton of sense in an Ohio home. corn is like THE common joke of trade in the Midwest, and Josh has lived there almost his whole life. (but as for Emma, nah, she didn't need it.)
The vibe of their homes is like, edgy pediatrician's office meets ikea, but make it upscale: absolutely terrible design 😂😂 would love to see you and your sister roast more of these AD celebrity homes ❤❤
I just have a regular ol' bookcase, but from now on I will be calling it my "homage to books." Your sister makes the perfect addition to your reviews. Loved it!
My room has become MUCH more luxurious since I turned a row of books into "an homage to books". I'm getting classier and more up my own a$$ by the second! 🎩 Well, cheerio.
Me too! “Homage to books” it is. Actually I think we could apply this to many different areas of home decor. I think my toothbrush holder will henceforth be known as my “Homage to oral health”
it's like a kids play house. It's like one of those movies where the kids wish they didn't have parents anymore and the parents disappear and the kids go wild until eventually regret sinks in...
@@Caroline_WinklerAs a woman who has had children your crop tops take me back to a better time & place when I used to have a waist instead of a watermelon ❤ ~ 😮 All of us vicarious dressers approve 😅
I never expected to get a disorder diagnosed here, but here I am with misophonia. Dogs licking, people tapping, etc drive me BONKERS beyond belief. Maybe now I can work past it since I know what it is.
27:16 Caroline: I think they seem sweet Elizabeth: *contorts face* They seem annoying, would you wanna hang out with them? Caroline: *polite laughing* N-No but that's not the point. Do you think they wanna hang out with you? Elizabeth: I hope not I CHOKED lmfaskjfahjkSdoddjiad
Omfg 😂😭 this describes my entire identity crisis my whole life. All my friends think im so blunt, but in the context of my family Liz actually used to make fun of me for being a kiss-ass peace maker. It’s all relative 😭
But also is most likely a hard-core perfectionist that leads to being hyper-critical. Perfectionism that is a way of thinking leads to being very negative. A very harsh lens that is esp towards self and can cause depression. Edit Forgot to say I'm in recovery for it.
I kind of like bad taste sometimes, it's better than cookie cutter bland interiors, I think good taste is subjective, I think it's sweet that the first couple have tried so super hard, even if it doesn't work in some ways, their taste will evolve and change over time as they develop.
Okay, this is now officially my favorite first-thing Saturday morning RU-vid channel. I like when you bring you siblings on and how they make you seem "normal."
‘They’re doing their best’ ‘Their best is shit’ 😂😂 this was hilarious ‘we love beverages’ ‘an homage to some books’ . The filtered water station outside the bedroom where they had saved hundreds of plastic bottles - thankfully I turn on the tap for my drinking water. I feel a little mean but I must admit I so agreed with Elizabeth on this home 🤷♀️
It was atrocious I saw this malarkey and thought “please please Caroline PLEASE” So thank you 🙏🏻 I remember thinking “these people are tedious and insufferable” They were just SO SPECIAL in their own heads and I just thought alllll this crap is going to be thrown out in the next five years. And yes, the stupid corn stool redundancy 🤢 And the kitchen stools?!? Wtf, so COMFY Comfy my ass The pretentiousness was excruciating I’m with Elizabeth on this…that “our friends are authors” make my skin crawl the way misophoniacs can’t handle you eating popcorn.
@@bonesonstones1 I understand it seems “mean” but I can assure you these people do not care. They’re not oppressed minorities, they’re young and insanely wealthy people with questionable taste. It’s all in good fun.
@kate carew I don't think it's fun to be unnecessarily cruel to anyone, much less on a video about home decor. Bullying is a shitty thing to do, especially anonymously on the internet.
Their cute tortoiseshell kitty was the most attractive and most dignified part of that house. Their "room where they rest" had the EXACT SAME pattern on the drapes, ceiling wallpaper, and pillows. It made me queasy.
The matching pattern reminds me of the billiard room at Graceland, a relatively small basement space entirely covered entirely in garish 70s patchwork print fabric, including the ceiling. It felt like the room was collapsing in on me during that portion of the tour.
Can we PLEASE get more home reviews from you and your sister? I absolutely hated this house and I loved Elizabeth’s rudeness lol I wanna be her friend. We all do. She probably would block all of us 😂
Liz kills me, "A lot of our friends are authors or writers." ... "Yeah, I bet they are." hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. She's always fun times on your videos... Your whole family are actually entertaining.
Strongly agree about adding the purple tile in the bathroom and how the bedroom was the most put-together part of the tour. Neither really in my taste, but you were spot on. I felt like the house lacked cohesion. In one room (kitchen), no focus because it was too empty. In the next (cathedral room) no focus because too many things were competing with each other. Some parts of the house were whimsical while others went entirely another way. I'm still not sure I understand their taste. I'm not one of those people who thinks everything has to be unique, or that there's anything wrong with looking the same funky mass-produced item that someone else liked enough to also buy (like the corn stool). But, I would prefer if those things were put together in a way that makes sense for the home. Sometimes I see stuff I think is super cool, but it's not something I'd want to own. I don't think these guys have figured out yet that you don't have to own everything you think is cool to look at. You have to realize that a lot of things are a novelty, but that novelty wears off quick.
This was comedic gold and also your sister is TOTALLY the Kourtney of the family but tell her it’s not a bad thing! Sarcastic, deadpan, into the deeper things in life and over everybody’s shit. Loved this so much 😂😂
Pls bring Elizabeth along to every Rude Review episode. Her energy is amazing. I spent like 3 minutes laughing at her “if I ever say ‘we’ you know I was lobotomized” and she’s just top notch rude but like she doesn’t seem to care enough to hold back so it’s amazing. Also the thing she said about having to buy a stool to be interesting was also so funny. I feel like Debby and Josh were trying to sell us their house as if it was the most thought out quirky and unique but Elizabeth just saw right through their bull-. Like just flat out “I hate that” but she was so funny. Ps: the blueberries were not loud at all lmao but tbh I didn’t mind the popcorn last video
"I want to applaud them for doing something different..." Liz... ..."no." When I tell you at that moment, I died. She was just so real, and I felt like I was on the couch with you two just lending my bitchy viewpoint.
Unpopular opinion: I liked the murals. Well, not the actual murals (too much of a stoner/skater vibe for me) but the fact that they did them. 1) the murals are a bold choice that they really went for 2) they hired a friend/artist to do them which makes them unique and supporting independent artists is excellent rich people behavior and 3) they helped with the roughing in which makes a fun memory and the best pieces in most people's homes are the ones that have special stories tied to them We in the peanut gallery might not like the murals, but the couple do and they turned out to be the only actually interesting part of this "fascinating" house.
If you have never read "What your house tells about you" by Virginia Frankel (published 1973 - totally vintage and retro but totally on point) then you absolutely HAVE TO track down a copy and read it. Best decorating psychology book I've ever read that isn't pretentious, and I have never come across anything like it, which surprises me.
@@Caroline_Winkler - Please! Rita Ora's AD ep is impossible not to like (or love). Also Kirsten Dunst's (for the first sentence alone!). Then, jump right into Gwyneths's to re-sour the palate, or not. I would pay for this, but only if you both eat popcorn.
@jcriverside I haven't seen Gwenyth's but did hear she has a fire place with mantle in pretty much every room because she wanted a truly English country home esthetic in L.A, including the entrance foyer.
Elisabeth performed the task of being rude. Caroline explained why the interior style was: they tried hard. Very entertaining. Thanks. :) You made me laugh.
Leave requests for later episodes of RUDE REVIEW here! Does not need to be limited to home tours - can be a movie, show, or anything fun to review. If you do request a home review, I prefer to cover some you haven't seen covered yet on YT! Rude Review won't always be home tours, BUTTT if you love home reviews as much as I do, check out DANIEL TITCHENER, PAIGE WASSEL, and MIRIAM MANZO's home reviews - they're my favorites!
I actually really like the corn stool BUT only in Emma Chamberlains house. Her home reflects the things I’ve heard her talk about in videos and whatnot. Like she actually had a hand in designing it. “It looks like a laboratory.” 🤣 Their house just feels so unintentional and disconnected, goodness gracious. Great video as always Caroline!
I'm a huge fan of your channel/you and one of the main reasons is that you are a careful person who chooses their words deliberately. I think that is underrated and it is where you shine. Just my opinion. Looking forward to your next video!
Haha that question was very much sarcastic / mocking. I’m well aware that sister has a deeper vocabulary than Websters’ dictionary, don’t worry. She knows I’m mocking and spends no time responding to it ❤
minute 8.12--19 has been carrying me though chemo, this time around with so so so much laughter. I usually watch impractical jokers, but after 4 years, I've seen them all. Much love from Johns Hopkins!
I appreciate the fact that Liz remained true to herself because she said everything that we were thinking.😂 Also, I felt the popcorn in the last video added a bit of sass that I love, but that's just me. Everything is better with a snack!
Please let your sister roast the next one even harder! Your gift is the critique, no need to be positive or nice. I didn’t even make it past them opening the door before I also hated this AD tour, but I’m glad I got to watch it here with you 😂 Keep this content coming!
The faux moss on the mantle is making me itch. Like, how do you dust that?? Also, please include Elizabeth in all these rude reviews. Her tantrum over having to say something positive is all of us.
i remember being that young couple trying to make a cool home but not having a clue how. And frankly, I still don't have a clue. Am just more clear about what I like and what I don't these days. It takes guts to put themselves out there like they did. And it takes guts to put yourself out there like you do. You were quite sweet about them. You are also very entertaining and come across as someone with a big heart. Your sister is hilarious. I've dragged my sisters into my videos too. It's so much fun. Loved it all! ❤
I rewatched your video -- coz it's just too funny on a rewatch. The celebrities cringey actions and commentary on their own home was absolutely gold the second time around. Plus we get to enjoy your brilliant chemistry together --- this video felt like a sketch comedy :)) Best moments: "This is not a corn, it's a stool" -- thanks, we almost got confused. How she opens the door biting her lip and carrying a mug. They did the tour with a mug in their hands -- like lol what's that about? I love that your sister tried to be nice asking, "do they have small children?" in the sun room. And your reaction to her yet unspoken savage comment was hilarious. "homage to books" instead of just books on a bookshelf --- cracked me up. appreciate your sister's dedication not lying about anything positive. I also enjoyed that you were trying to see the design from their perspective; it really made your dynamic work. More of these please.
I actually really like their house. I guess my aesthetic is weworks. The only thing that annoyed me was Debbie Ryan trying so hard to seem cool. From the outfit, to the way she spoke, to her stance with her fingers in her pocket, to her constantly carrying around a coffee mug she never drank from. Ahhh... It drove me crazy. It was so insincere, so I couldn't take some of the elements in her home seriously because I was like, does she even like this, or does she what me to think she likes this?
I liked the house a lot too. Sure there were basic parts, but at least that made it not overwhelming. I don't understand the need critique everything across the board.
A different perspective: I think they are awkward introverts that smoked too much before the video. Also being on architectural digest is huge, I would be terrified 😂
I hate to say it but that’s just Debbie Ryan. I would say this is the most normal I’ve seen her 😂 but it is cringey and I couldn’t finish the AD video because of the way they came off.
@@anitachamberlain3391 ....how. I'm genuinely baffled. This looked heinous and incoherent from start to finish and I'm not a hard person to please in terms of design.
Elizabeth is SO RUDE AND NEGATIVE making her the perfect co-host for this series!!! 😂 I hope she joins you on every episode of Rude Review. Love it. She's hilarious!
Oh my God! Two normal people, doing normal things. I had no idea this existed on the Internet anymore. More Elizabeth, please! And more rudeness. F*** fake positivity! This was hilarious!
For one horrified second I thought there were actual ducklings in the cold plunge🤣 Just a yellow rubber duckie. Elizabeth's statement/threat( "going to put that information to good use one day") regarding Caroline's visceral dislike of velvet, is giving all kinds of sibling bastardry. What devious plan is she cooking up!
I'm glad y'all can't see my house. Because I surround myself with things that make me happy to look at. My first house that I bought when I was 24 did not have a lot of room for heavy remodel. On my second house, I've probably customized it to the point the average person or you would hate it. My belief is that a home should be a combination of functionality and what makes you glad to look at every day. The only negative thing I'd have to say about the preferences for their house is that no one that actually uses their kitchen should have a white kitchen top. Good luck keeping that white granite/marble counter looking clean.
I'm sure your house is lovely! I think everyone should be surrounded by things that make them happy. I believe the critique from Caroline and Elizabeth here is that in this home, all the 'quirky' objects and design feel disingenuine and thrown in just to make them look 'different', rather than unique objects a person has collected over their life.
Elizabeth was spot on! 😂! The flower/mushroom wallpaper in the “sunroom”/“cathedral room”. The sterile kitchen. The random artwork and “friends books”. The smoking and drinking monkey wall paper. I just couldn’t get behind this design…and I think Elizabeth wasn’t trying to sugar coat her review…which is the the whole point of the post! Also…if someone is upset at the sound of someone else eating a naturally crunchy food…you really shouldn’t care.
I absolutely feel the same after watching. a few different videos. I'm not sure why Caroline sets so such store re Paige Wassail. I've diligently watched a number of different videos of hers and conclude that you Caroline should have more faith in your own natural skills and abilities. You have a gift so accept it, and nurture it by improving it wherever you can. Bet your Sister champion's you too. She is a smart person who always has your best interests at heart. Thank you for your show.
