this is my first time making a clothing item!! I'm having a ton of fun and I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all your patterns being free! I totally understand why people would want to sell their patterns but sometimes I just can't afford it and it's great to have such amazing free options
Just started making this a couple days ago and just finished the front panel. It feels so daunting to now have to go back and do it all again for the back 😅
No way!! I just started watching the show and im doing this sweater vest ( but not inspired by the show ) what a coincidence!! And yes it is a nice crochet project !
Beautiful tutorial!! I’m currently working on it and I see that at row 30 the total amount of stitches says but it should be just in case anyone else struggled a bit like I did lol ❤️❤️❤️
I just finished (if I feel like it I can keep working on it) another vest yesterday and decided to crochet this. It feels like it will be a perfect second vest for beginner crocheters.
This is super easy in the past I have struggled a lot and I use to break down and quit for a while and start again and then it would just repeat. But I decided to give crocheting another shot at first I tried to crochet a scrunchie didn’t go well but then I came across this tutorial I thought it would be super hard but long behold it is not.
I adore this pattern! I’m currently making it (but a green and pink version) and the written pattern is easy to follow and I’m also gonna make the same version from the video because the colors are beautiful!💗💗
!!! thank you so much for making this pattern! i started on it about 2 days ago, just finished the front panel and straps, but it already looks sooo cute! will definitely be making more.
I just finished this vest! It looks really nice and is a good fit and size (I made the S/M size), and the video instruction were easy to follow. However, I had to buy an extra ball of yarn to finish the ribbing, meaning I ended up using 2 yarns of the tan colour and 3 yarns for the brown colour, with some left over of each colour. Each yarn was 100 g. Hope this helps someone! :)
Thank you for this tutorial 😊 I'm using it as sort of a guide in helping me make my lil one a vest as it's quite chilly these days. Cool to see how you do ribbing directly on the piece. I've not done that before so am keen to try it 😊
This is a very nice tutorial, i have been making crochet for years but never made clothes before, this is my first and i just finished the front panel, i am using velvet yarn and it looks very cute!! wish me luck😍
Omg tysm I have been wanting to make something exactly like this but i was scared. I decided to just do it and prepare as much as I could. Then I found this! I haven't started but I'm so ready! Thank you!
Y’all I’m on the first panel and have already made so many errors and resizing it myself to make it fit that I’m just ´trusting the process’ atp and I hope it won’t come out ugly😭. This is the first project that got me struggling this way since I’ve starting crocheting 💀
She demonstrates how to do the first one then says to do 34 more, so it's 35 in total. Then you do 35 in the other color. I know this is super late so you probably already figured that out but I'm still replying in case anyone else sees your comment and has the same problem. :)
Thanks so much for this tutorial! Just coming towards the end of the first "side" in a L/XL size. I noticed for the straps there may be an incorrect number of stitches for row 5 of the first strap: [On website] Row 5: Ch 1 and turn your work. Hdc in next 11 (13, 15) sts, skip the next st, hdc 1 in the last st.
thank you for this pattern! i'm almost done w my sweater vest... unfortunately the back panel turned out WAY bigger than the front and I can't figure out why but I sewed them together and hopefully it won't be too obvious lol. time for ribbing now!
Finished the two panels and am so excited to be finished soon! When do you recommend blocking? Before sewing the panels together or after the project is done?
Hi! Thank you for this sweet pattern, I just wanted to ask, the written pattern says that you start with 70 ch, but in the video says otherwise, wich one is the right one? Thank you!
I am following the tutorial, and I arrived at rand 29. I do not understand: how can one have 52 stitches in the round 29, 62 in rand 30 without making an increase and 54 in rand 31 by making only 4 decreases. Thank you for your time
First of all, your work is beautiful, you’re very talented, and I wanna try to make this vest cause it’s just great. The problem is, when I was watching the tutorial, specifically the part when you’re doing the second strap of the front panel, the dark brown strap, you say that we have to count 16 stitches from the opposite end of our work, and attach yarn. But I got confused cause you attached yarn in the 17th stitch, and started to do half double crochets in that same stitch, therefore, the total numbers of stitch in that row is 17, not 16. So, do we have to do 16 stitches in total and attach yarn in the 16th stitch, or do we have to attach the yarn in the 17th stitch so we have 17 stitches in total? I hope you can help me with this, thank you! EDIT: I have another question, when you sew both panels, wouldn’t it be better to sew them with the right sides facing each other so that later when it’s inside out, there won’t be the sewings?
I absolutely can't wait to make this; I do have a question though. How much yarn was required for this? I don't want to buy too much, or not buy enough. Did it use up a full skein of each color, or did you use more than one?
Hi, thanks for the great tutorial. Just a question I hope you could help with. When starting to decrease for the armholes with only 54 stitches on a row, would you decrease 2 stitches at the beginning and end or just one, as I’m a bit worried it might get too small with 2 decreases? I’m still a beginner and this will be my first garment 😀
Hello! I know this is a somewhat older video now but I'm looking for some advice! I'm quite new to crochet so I thought I would be clever and just make this with one colour to get my head around doing a project this big. I'm about halfway through the front panel and just realised I might have shot myself in the foot for when it is time to do the straps woops. At this stage I'm just thinking of adding a second strand of yarn (in the same colour) towards the end so I can complete the straps in the same way as the instructions? Would this be the best option or is there a better way to get around this?
Can I do this with only one cake of yarn? I love the shape and I want to use the yarn I have because it transitions through different colors on one continuous string! Would it make a difference? Thank you sm!! ❤
So when sewing the two panels together, you put the “bad” side of each panel on the outside? (Facing away from each other) and then flip it inside out to do the ribbing? Just clarifying! :D
hello, im a guy and i made the front panel but it seems that it will come out too cropped, did i do something wrong or is it supposed to be short vertically? will the ribbing be long enough to make it full size or should i just scrap the project? thank you!
Hey! Thank you for the pattern and the video, it's a very pretty vest. I'd like to do it with a V shape neck, is it possible? Should I stop before the row 44 to start to make the 'straps'?
im having a hard time understanding, when you started the 26th row, at 6:35 , you cut off the yarn of the brown and the beige, but did you bind off the beige in any way? Because all I see is starting this row with the second colour while it’s still attached and then when you get to the middle, it has been cut to work it in the project another time…? Not sure if I’m really clear, but I don’t want to simply cut the yarn and accidentally unravel my entire project… :/
Hi there, I'm confused from the start😅, the video asked us to chain 71 n hdc 34 first n change to ur other colour n hdc 35 but if u plus it together it is equal to 69 not 70. Instead after I did 34 hdc first, my second colour has 36 hdc... May ik is there any mistakes?
So technically she meant to say you hdc in the second ch from your hook, and then make 34 hdc after, so it would be like 1 + 34 = 35, and then you should have 35 of each color
Hi there, I’m getting ready to sow the panels together but in your video you say to do the “wrong side” facing each other but in the pattern it says to do the “right side” facing each other…will it make a difference either way?
hi! I'm not entirely sure but usually you would sew it together with the right sides facing each other. if you sew it together inside out like this, the seams will be on the inside and the finished project will look better and cleaner
Should the panels be different lengths? I’m at the point where I should sew them together but if I connect them at the top of both straps the front panel is longer than the back
How did you sew the panels together? Did you use a hook or a needle, any recommendations, I'm just going to finish up the strap of my front panel but I'm not sure what I should do to connect them together. If you could tell me the way you joined them I would appreciate it.
Why does my color B is longuer than my color A? I count 71 chain and follow the tuto but when i compared both color side the side of the color B seems more longuer... idk if im doing it right I dont want to make a mistake.. can you help me ?
if i wanted to use this pattern as a base for a sweater and ADD sleeves, could i continue with the ribbing along the arm but make it long and not blo? or is that gonna make a weird bulge at the arm pit?
I know you commented this months ago but I am thinking the same. The written pattern on the blog and video don’t say to do the HDCs in the back loops only, but in the video it looks like she’s only doing it in the back loops and in super confused. Did you ever figure this out?
This is such a cute pattern! I'm doing it right now infact following the video and the website (I'm following size L).. but I'm facing an issue.. in my Row 1 for color A i did 42 hdc as told but when I change the color, I'm getting 44 hdc of color B.. which makes sense since there are 86 loops now but the pattern says 42 of A and 43 of B... am I doing anything wrong?? :,(
So I’m doing the pattern for the size large too, and if you follow the first part of that, she says to hdc in the 2nd chain from hook and then continue making 42 hdc, which means you have 1 + 42 = the first 43. You should have 43 hdc of each color (:
@@ClarissaCerteza4 hii when you followed the pattern for size L did your foundation chain of 87 measure out to the 21 inches? I’m currently following the L pattern with a size 3 yarn and a 5.5mm hook but when I chain 87 it only measured out to 18 inches. Thanks!
I'm making the S/M as an XS person and I'll try to remember to get back to you on how it fits. Might make the ribbing slightly smaller somehow but I'll get to that problem when I get to it lol
