You know I really appreciate the joining of the round motifs of the hot pad because it is so easy to match the single crochet stitches.

@createandcrochetwithpatricia
@createandcrochetwithpatricia 2 года назад
Oh dear! Well, the problem could be with your crochet tension. If it is too tight, then this can happen, try going up a half to one size for your crochet hook and here is a tutorial that might help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PxAVTN_T3mk.html You could also repeat round two (2dc in each st) for round three, and if you are making the hot pad, just move each round up one...three will become four, four will become five etc. You just need more stitches or looser tension for the work to lay flat. Good luck!

Great tutorial!! Could the hot pad be done with only one layer? Is having both layers just to look nice or is it to add extra heat protection?
@createandcrochetwithpatricia
@createandcrochetwithpatricia 2 года назад
The two layers are for added protection. You could do just one layer, but I would call that a 'warm pad'. So I wouldn't put anything hot on it, but it would be sufficient for things transferred from a hot pot to a bowl, glass or cup.

Hey there! I'm loving making this double hotpad. I'm not very far into it..but on row 3..you said there should be a total of 40 stitches. I'm getting 48? It's a row where it 2 DC in one st then 1 DC in the next. My count has been right until then.

Patricia, I am new to crocheting and this is a wonderful tutorial. I am going to make some for Christmas gifts! I know the hot pad needs to be made of 100% cotton, but you mentioned possibly using a synthetic yarn for the coasters. So I could use a 4 weight acrylic yarn?? Thanks again and Happy Holidays!
@createandcrochetwithpatricia
@createandcrochetwithpatricia 2 года назад
Yes, a number 4 weight acrylic yarn would be fine for the coasters. I'm glad you found crochet! It is a wonderful hobby and most of my crochet tutorials are beginner-friendly :)

What if I wanted to go one more round? Would it be the same as 4&5??
@createandcrochetwithpatricia
@createandcrochetwithpatricia 5 месяцев назад
You'd probably want to do 1dc for 3 sts (rather than for 2 sts), then 2dc in the 4th st. The more rounds you do, the less frequently you need the 2dc in one stitch. I hope that makes sense!

I used this pattern and counted my stitches but it doesn’t lay flat. What could I be doing wrong? It’s not a bowl. It’s almost like a wrinkle in it
@createandcrochetwithpatricia
If your stitch count is correct, then it is possible that your crochet tension might be a bit tight. You can try going up 1/2 to 1 size for the crochet hook and I also have a tutorial on proper crochet tension that might be helpful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PxAVTN_T3mk.html

Why is she doing it with the speed of light?
@createandcrochetwithpatricia
@createandcrochetwithpatricia 11 месяцев назад
That is so interesting...most people criticize me for going too slow! My intentions are to offer easy patterns that show every step. If you like the pattern and want to persist with my channel, you can go to settings (the gear icon below the video), choose "playback speed" and choose "0.75". This will slow the video down to a speed that may be more suited to you. I hope you find this helpful, if not, I'm sure you will find a channel more suited to your needs!

If I wanted a bigger hot pad, how would I have to continue? Is there like a pattern? So 1 1 2 double stitches and then the next round?
@createandcrochetwithpatricia
I don't have a pattern for a larger motif, but you have the right idea on repeating the previous round. Try repeating round 5 again for the sixth round, then as you add more rounds, you won't have to do an increase stitch (2 dc per stitch) as frequently. For example, do 1 dc 3 times (rather than 2 times as done in round 5), then 2 dc in the next stitch. You may actually have to do this already for round 6. The nice thing about crochet is you can just unravel your work and try again!
@jenellerodenbaugh3204

How can I make it larger?
@createandcrochetwithpatricia
@createandcrochetwithpatricia 2 месяца назад
I don't have pattern for a larger version of this motif, but you can try doing the next row with 1 dc in 3 sts, then 2 dc in the next st and see how that lays. After that you will have to play around with the number of individual dc sts between the increase st (2 dc's in one st). Basically, the larger the circle becomes, the more individual dc sts you need between the increase st for it to lay flat. If you don't have enough, the circle will be wavy and floppy, if there are not enough, it will curl up like a bowl (I think that's right...I'm having a dyslexic moment). But just play with changing up the stitch count for each consecutive row... you'll see what I mean.
@redrum8063
@redrum8063 3 месяца назад
I have tried this, and it just comes out not flat like yours. The stitch CT is right, so I don't know why it's not working.
@createandcrochetwithpatricia
@createandcrochetwithpatricia 3 месяца назад
It may have to do with your tension. If it is curling up like a bowl, then your tension is too tight, try going up half a size with your crochet hook. If it is floppy, then your tension is too loose, so go down in size. I have a tutorial on proper crochet tension that might be helpful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PxAVTN_T3mk.html
