FAQs??
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How much yarn do I need?

I just don’t understand row 2. If i start with the first stitch into that very first stitch and skip it leaves me 1 lonely stitch in the very end of that row (i’m doing my first 2row). That is incorrect so what am I doing wrong?
@bellacococrochet

You might find it helpful to look at the written instructions for this stitch which can be found here: bellacococrochet.com/double-linen-moss-stitch/ 😊 Also make sure that you're working your first stitch into the correct place which is directly underneath the chain.

I’m also having the same problem with the video instructions. When I went to look at the written instructions, it just says to do the starting chain in multiples of 2 and no mention of adding 1 for the turning chain like in the video. I’m guessing that it just needs to be multiples of two only, without the need for the turning chain added. It worked for me once I omitted the turning chain on the foundation chain.

@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 4 года назад
As the double moss stitch is really textured I think it would look nice with a more simple, plain border. Perhaps a round of treble crochets finished with crab stitch, or even some rounds of double crochet. Then if you'd like to give it more interest you could add some picots 🙂 I'm using British crochet terms 🙂

I love this stich but when I'm doing it, it shrinks so much, dont know if im doing it wrong or if its that way
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 2 года назад
This is quite a dense stitch so it's not unusual for it to feel like it's shrinking, in comparison to the length of the chain you started with. You can size up your crochet hook if you want to add a bit more drape 😊

Could you do a single crochet foundation stitch for your 1st row?
@cherylingram-williams2355
@cherylingram-williams2355 5 лет назад
She's using English terms not American... when she says double crochet, she means American single crochet... treble crochet means American double crochet... hope this helps
@susangetzschman4029
@susangetzschman4029 5 лет назад
@@cherylingram-williams2355 I do understand that. I am asking if instead of doing a set number of foundation chains, and turning doing the first row, why not just do a sc foundation stitch, or a dc foundation stitch, etc. It actually includes doing the foundation row and the first row included.
@bushmistress
@bushmistress 5 лет назад
@@susangetzschman4029 Ahhh must admit for the level of tutorial it sounds quite advanced work to be thinking of such stuff imo here. I don't know how to do that myself. Not a criticism, but if I preferred I'd probably give it a try to see what happened, it's fun to experiment sometimes and a learning curve for less experienced such as myself. I must try these rows myself sometime :)
@vegangelist
@vegangelist 4 года назад
Susan Getzschman absolutely, you can work a foundation sc row for this. Any place that calls for a foundation chain plus a row of sc can be replaced with a row of foundation sc.

It keeps getting larger without me wanting it too :/ idk why this always happens in every square I try to do for the Harry Styles cardigan
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 3 года назад
If your squares are getting larger then it's probable that you're working an extra stitch somewhere. It's really important to keep count of the stitches; before you start each row you can count each stitch and use stitch markers to help you recognise them as you go along 😊

My edges always end up curvy and Not straight, what do i did i do wrong?
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 3 года назад
Its not unusual for the edges of this stitch to be slightly wavy and not perfectly straight - you can fix this by working a row of double crochets (UK terms) down the sides which will make it look much straighter and neater 😊

I don't know why but mine is getting broader with every extra row :(( Help! What am I doing wrong?!
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 3 года назад
It sounds like you could be working an extra stitch somewhere with each row; if you start off with a small sample swatch it's easier to keep track of how many stitches you have until you get the hang of the pattern. You can also take a look at the written instructions over on my blog here: bellacococrochet.com/double-linen-moss-stitch/ 😊
@thesullivankid2425
@thesullivankid2425 Год назад
Has anyone actually successfully completed a project with this pattern? Followed everything exactly, and edges do not come out nice. You can even tell in the sample swatch in the picture that the one Edge is not very straight or neat. I spent way too many hours the last few days starting a project, then working sample swatches multiple times. And it's just not working well. Everything is fine but the edges. All my Stitch counts come out perfect and what you're supposed to be working into at the beginning and end of each row comes out great. It just doesn't lay nice on the edges at all
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet Год назад
I'm sorry to hear you're not happy with how your work is turning out - sometimes with crochet it helps to work a border of double crochet stitches (UK terms) which can make things look really neat and tidy. I also recommend blocking your work if you haven't done so already, as this can really work wonders! 😊
@thesullivankid2425
@thesullivankid2425 Год назад
@@bellacococrochet thank you for your reply. From what I can tell, it seems that the DC on the end of each row is too tall for the rows.... making the edges taller or longer than the rest of the piece. If some of those stitches could be replaced with chains or even slip stitches perhaps it would work better. I fiddled with it some and seemed to help but not fix entirely. And ran out of time and patience when my goal is not to design a pattern but to follow a pattern and get a nice project worked up! Thank you though, overall I do enjoy your videos, just seems like this one isn't quite working out
