Come with me while I sell my crochet at the 3rd event I have attended. This was the 🌻Wildflower and Nature Festival🌿
in Oroville California and it was so much fun! I wish I had gotten some footage of the amazing flowers blooming 🪻
I learned a lot from this experience and I hope to continue this journey and attend the festival again next year! (Just hope to be a bit more prepared next time)
I don’t make commission off any links; I just genuinely enjoy some of the things mentioned in this video:
🦋 DB Designs - polymer clay jewelry: db-designs-105302.square.site/
🧤 Cheap compression gloves:

⏳ Sandbags:

Did you notice I learned how to add real music to videos??? Hopefully my editing skills are getting better as well!

You have a lot of changes occurring in your life. A toddler brings a lot more physical chaos to a home than a baby, and requires a lot more mental energy as a parent. It is super important that the other parent also gets to develop a strong relationship with your child on their terms, and the only way for that to occur is to let them be together without you. (I hope that’s helpful.) Also, you are modeling for her how to be a happy and fulfilled woman, by taking time for your creativity and business. Finally, to those folks who feel the need to criticize you in the comments - this is your channel, you get to do what you want. They can go make their own channel. I love your work. ❤

Thank you so much, you are absolutely right about my daughter spending time with her daddy. It’s hard to fight that primal urge telling you your baby needs you all the time though! I appreciate your kind words, it was very nice of you to say those things and I really do want to be a good role model for my daughter. Wish you all the best

That little mom ramble at the end made me tear up. Gosh mom guilt is so real. Even right now as I type this I feel mom guilt because my daughter is independently playing right now and I’m market prepping. And i totally understand the chaos of a house when you are in the thick of market prepping…my house is always a mess leading up to a market. And I try to be gentle with myself, but it’s hard…and I see how much my husband takes on so I can run my small business, but I wish I could just clone copy myself sometimes so he can relax, I can take care of my daughter,, and I can also take care of the house. Not to mention all the admin/behind the scenes work it takes to run a business. It’s crazy…and I say all this, but having a small business is so rewarding , and I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE A VLOG of you putting together the jungle gym for your daughter. How rewarding that will be. You got this ! You are doing amazing, in ALL aspects of your life!

This is the most relatable market/mom video I’ve seen. Mom guilt is real. I love being a SAHM but there are times that I get jealous that my husband gets to go to work and be around other people. On the flip side, he misses out on a lot at home. Just think, someday soon you’ll get to bring your daughter along with you! My youngest is 8 and she loves helping me with my markets. You did AMAZING at your show and you’re right, we crave more recognition. You’re an awesome MOMprenuer!!

Guuuurl, you almost made me cry with you. Im a stay at home mom too to a 3 year old and it definitely is a challenge to manage time. Yet, I am so proud of your accomplishment!! You did amazing and its definitely a learning curve. Don't sell yourself short on your items. Increase your prices by $2-5 more because it is precious time you take from your child, family, and home. I really enjoy your videos && you're q wonderful mother and wife ❤

You will gradually get to know how much stock you need and how frequently you can do a market it seems like these were too close together to be able to make much in between. Hopefully, you will soon have one tote you restock after each market with floral bags, usual bags, business card display, etc. you can have your list, but also things already gathered. Each event is a learning experience. Give yourself some grace and be proud of what you have achieved so far. I’m impressed that so many of your items sold. You must be doing a great job of knowing your customers and interacting with them. I’m really enjoying your vlogs. I’m a knitter with a little crochet experience. Didn’t expect to enjoy this so much. You’re great to watch. Hugs and keep on trucking! Deb

Mom guilt is so tough! I have a 3 year old and a 6 month old. I brought them both with me to my first show of 2024, outside in the mud and cold wind. It was awful. I do not recommend. 0/10. Lol but it's because I felt so bad leaving them! Since then, my perspective has changed. There are positive parenting things about being a small biz owner/crochet artist. Our kids get to see it work hard, pursue our interests, and develop skills. They see us better ourselves every day. What a great model to follow, right? :) At least that's what I tell myself. Hope that helps! You're doing a great job! Also, the fact that this was so hard on you just proves how much you love her and prioritize her. 💜

Omg that perfectionist syndrome and being frustrated with reality vs. what was envisioned is so relatable to me. BUT…. Being on the outside looking in this time, let me just say wow! Please give yourself permission to be proud of your achievements at this market. Selling out that fast? Amazing. Just goes to show the quality and individuality of your product. Also, I used to do markets (not with crochet but with handmade and fair trade goods) and all of the lessons you learnt at this market I had to learn from experience too - you are not the only one!! Congratulations on your successful market! As an idea, as your stall gets low on inventory, don't be afraid to change it up, like take down a table and bring the back table at the front and spread out your lovely flowers and make them the star of the show. Also, the flower bags, when you said you forgot them again I definitely laughed - the dreaded curse of the flower bags!! Okay lastly, mum guilt is hard. It can feel like no matter what you do you feel guilty. It is really okay to have feelings about it, have a good cry, to reflect on your choices and choices of how you're spending your time and make changes etc. I'm not going to say hey you're the perfect mum - sometimes I have realised that I made mistakes in how I've used time or how I'm balancing things - it is easy to go to extremes and over time you'll find better balance that work for you. I have twin 10 year olds and I'm 47, and I can only speak for myself, but I think that it is really important that you do things for yourself, and specifically a business/job/career is such a good idea for so many reasons - anything can happen and being able to support yourself and your daughter with your skills and experience might save you in the future and give you independence and choices which it might seem like that will sooo never be you, but for so many of us, it will be. It is also awesome for your daughter to spend lots of alone time with her dad, and to spend periods of time which give him the chance to flex parenting muscles - making snacks, doing naps, organising meals etc., them knowing how to do that stuff is so important also even if they don't do it all the time. I would say too, my kids are 10, and they love seeing me work, and they now love being part of my crochet journey - my girl helps me make up a whiteboard with our market prep goals, my son also crochets and wants to make things to sell, they both helped the last booth I had and they've also helped their Pop with his market stalls. It is so good for them to see and learn these things! Seeing you do something you love and enjoy and are good at will become a core memory for your daughter. Ps. I can tell you've hit on a real genuine issue from the long responses from commenters as I scroll down - it's clear you are not alone and we are all learning as we go too! Again, congrats on your successful market and let's gooooo with your prep for your next one!! You got this!!
@CatCakeCrochet

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I love the phrase “flexing parenting muscles” and you are totally right, making the snacks, doing the nap routine - those are things my husband doesn’t do often and it’s good for him and my daughter to experience that. I love that your family is so involved and helpful with your business! That must make it so much more rewarding knowing they helped you with your success. The making a core memory part really got me, I really want my daughter to think of her mom as hardworking and creative. Thank you again, wish you luck with all things

Watched this in two parts, but just wanted to tell you, you're doing amazing. We're on the same boat, again I have an autistic 5yr old and my husband works two jobs so we rarely see him during the week, and although he is so supportive and helps around the house when he can, it's like you said, they bust their butt all week and shouldn't have to pick up after us. I was just telling my hubby about my frustrations too, of not being able to get everything done, he said he doesn't mind a little mess. Even with that though I decided that I'm going to set aside a couple of hours a day to prep food and tidy. Then take a whole morning off while my child is in school to do any deep cleaning or catching up that needs to be done. Idk if that's technically going to work but I hope it at least helps to know you're not on your own.

And that you don’t get burnt out, it’s hard always being in Mom mode, or Cleaning mode, Chef mode, Wife mode, sometimes we need to just sit in a dark room and scroll on our phones with our brains turned off. It sounds like you and your husband do all you can to take care of your kiddo and that’s amazing.

You should be so proud of yourself because you're making beautiful handmade items and have a wonderful looking set-up...and you're a mum of a little one! I do have some suggestions for when your items are selling and leaving gaps. Keep adjusting your booth displays to more evenly spread out the remaining items. Rethink your display baskets and shelves to display the remaining items in an eye catching way. For example, you still had a bunch of coasters and headbands and it could be eye catching to line those colourful coasters up along the front of your table and maybe splay out the headbands across the table. I'd turn the stand with the car hangers so they weren't bunched at the back of it. Basically just keep rotating your displayed items to fill gaps and show off everything you have left, like moving some of your flower displays across to one of the other tables. Hope that all makes sense (and it is not criticism but just ideas to keep your set-up looking awesome as things sell). I really enjoy watching your videos. Donna from South Australia 🇦🇺

Mom guilt is the worst. It’s not even rational half the time. When I get overwhelmed with market prepping and stuff surrounding the market I always go right to me feeling like I need to stop and give up and just focus on being a mom. My husband gives me a lot of reassurance but it’s hard. My house gets a mess. My craft room gets a mess. My time management and ADHD cause things to be so much more difficult than they need to be and I end up spending more energy stressing than actually getting anything done. Also when it comes to mistakes you learned at market.. we’ve all been there. Our phones have died. Forgot sandbags. Didn’t think about what we need I.e clothing snacks and such. Feeling bummed before a market bc you feel like it’s gonna be a flop. It’s not as simple as creating and selling for anyone let alone parents. Your passions are relevant. You’re allowed to have a life outside of parenthood. You will ultimately be a better mom if you’re allowed to do things for yourself that make you happy. Come up with a time management plan and get yourself into that routine. You got this mama ! Congrats on a successful market ✨🤍

I have a towel rack thing too (I think) and I put my review car charms on there with “S” hooks. I get the mom guilt thing. I have an autistic 5yr old and the guilt gets me too. I just try and work mostly when he’s asleep or at school/therapy.

Where do you get your wire and what size I ordered mine at Amazon 3 different times but they are so flimsy I use the barbecue sticks but you can't bend it thank you your flowers are so pretty

I get them on Amazon and I really like them! If you go to my market prep/thrifting video I have them linked in the bio but I will add it to this videos bio in a few mins too. I like being about to bend the heads different directions, and for the poppies I cut the floral stems by 1/4 and then bent them slightly in different directions so they were a little wavy

I Love your videos...but instead of saying your booth looks bad you should be happy it seems empty because of everything you've sold. You're very negative in this market video and sorry but not your best. No matter what if you're sharing your experience at markets...you should be more positive. Happy crocheting...Love ya anyway.💕

The things I shared in this video were my real in the moment reactions and I am sorry if they come off as negative but if you watched to the end of the video I do go over how I am using it as a positive learning experience. I can’t be positive all the time, but I can try to be as honest and real as I can be and hopefully others who are new at markets can find it helpful by learning from my mistakes. Thank you for taking the time to comment

I watch Bailey from Goo Goo Goods, she does markets and has twin boys who are very young and she does a lot of prep during nap times. It might be interesting to see her journey as she also is very focused on her children and working around them. I'll link her youtube here but so long as your child has your total focus when she asks for it, you will be fine. Children and pets get upset if they want your focus and can't get it. LOL it is funny that sometimes while people are talking to the camera their pets will walk right in front or do other things to distract them and it totally comes down to "focusing on the camera and not them" www.youtube.com/@googoogoods

I watch Bailey too! I mention her as my inspiration in my very first video lol. I love that she shares what didn’t work as well as what does in her markets. I love that you also included pets, Frankie really does get mad when he wants attention lol and he probably pooped in the sandbox in retaliation of something I did
