I’m a SAHM who loves to crochet 🧶✨ I named my small business Cat Cake because that is how my baby says “cupcake” and it’s fun and silly just like the things I crochet 😄
I’m learning the ropes of running a small business and juggling raising a toddler while trying to finish whatever I currently have on the hook. While I still love making things for my baby or family, I am also trying to focus on having an inventory to bring to markets - which can be hard when you have a gremlin who constantly steals everything you make 😅 I’m here to learn, grow and get inspired by other creators out there 🌙✨
We just watched Totoro as a family for the first time this weekend! I wasn't crazy about it but my kids sure were, especially my younger two. They were asking me to watch it again the next day, haha. The fruit frogs are so cute!
I love that these are creators that i have not seen before. Thanks for the awesome post. Your Ami eyes are so unique you could have that portion of the market on LOCK! You found some really good patterns ! Thanks for sharing
I use dry poly fil when I make stuffies with worsted weight yarn, especially dolls that I want to hold their shape. Now that I'm more plushies I use the original poly fil. I even use the dark poly fil. Each has their own purpose. Thanks for sharing these patterns!
Those seals are soooo cute!! I love the little mod to make it no sew. That’s something I’d deff do !! The flower mushroom reminds me of an eggplant I’d make the hat in purple Lolol. Love the video as always 🫶🏽
I think that's the same fiber fill that Michael's sells as part of their house brand, it comes in green packaging and it's just awful and had some kind of a sticky feeling to it 🤢 when you said it's hard to pierce it with darning needle I knew it was similar to that one, NEVER AGAIN!
@@zbornak00 LOL I meant to cut out at least 3 of those “I don’t feel like there’s too much of a difference” 😂😂😂 I can never put out a video that doesn’t have at least one messed up editing part
@@zbornak00 I haven’t tried the dot ones yet but they look so cute!! I haven’t seen them in person around here. Yesss I’m hoping for some more pastel posh colors, and hopefully a bright red 🤞
The Totoro movie wrecks me every time, man 💔 I’ve only put it on once for my daughter and I just can’t watch it without sobbing 😭 Those eyes 💕 love the butterfly detail
What type of polyfil do you usually use? I honestly have never considered that different brands may be different and I thought those were all just normal polyfil problems 😅
@@TheTopKnotchCrochet I usually only get the “original poly-fil premium polyester fiberfill” and I’ve never had that compacting problem but this bag was “crafters choice dry polyester packing fiber fill” and it’s so sticky!!
OMG! the little shop of horror's plant was amazing... I did a Mario plant and had a hard time with the wire I used. It kept pulling the wire down. What kind of wire did you use?
Hello! Love watching your videos. Question: How many other crocheters have been at the markets you’ve done? I signed up for my first market back at the end of April for a mid-July market. I just found out there are AT LEAST 3 other crocheters there, possibly more. Is this normal? It’s a one day event in a smallish town
Out of the 6 events I have done, 4 of the shows have had other crochet vendors. The most has been 3 other sellers but we all do different things, some only make wearables but stuffies are so popular now that usually that’s what the other vendors have. From talking to other crochet vendors online, it’s super common to do a market with other crochet vendors there. Unless you get lucky and find a juried show, I would always expect to see at least one other one. I try not to do the super popular patterns so my booth is more unique, but even if do make leggy frogs and octos, you can put your own twist on them by choosing different yarns, eyes or colors! I also go out of my way to introduce myself, check out their work and make conversation with the other crochet vendors. Good luck at your show!
Hii idk if u remember me but I had a ripped snake at the Gridley red suspenders day thing and u gave me yarn and I thought you were so nice I just wanted to say I love your work and to keep it up 😁✨️
I do remember you! I felt so bad I only had darning needles and they were too big to fix your poor snake 😢 I hope you were able to mend him! Thank you so much for the nice comment, I had a really great time that day, I hope I do another event in Gridley soon 😁
Yay!! Love to see your videos. The safety eyes are unique! I like how you experiment with them (not just sparkle but little leaves/seaweed as well!) I wonder if a laundry bag would prevent the scratches on the eyes. Further testing required for science 😂❤
Hey Quinn! Always love your content. I have a tip for washing the plushies so the eyes won't scratch or at least won't scratch as much. I'd wash them in a pillow case. The Audrey II was so awesome! Also, really liked the test patterns you did. Everything looked great!
@@CatCakeCrochet great! I have a ton of bernat i dont use anymore. Just kills my hands. Also, i have some brand new Alegria Mary Janes, i was going to donate but if they fit, i can send them, too. I'm a 65 y/o fellow crocheter, so no worries! Not a stalker!! 🤣🤣
Wooow those bronze to gold eyes are gorgeous 👁️👄👁️ I’m team cotton yarn over here so I super appreciate the Audrey II plant 🪴 I just feel that if you want to make a more structured and detailed amigurumi you’ve got to use cotton or acrylic yarn 🧶 Chenille yarn certainly has its place, of course, but it just doesn’t quite cut it for some projects :) Hahaha yes you can definitely be a person who winks at the camera 😉
