Hello, I think this is just too adorable & I wanna make for my grandkids. Maybe I'm the only one but I wish you would've done the WHOLE project up close. Some of us don't have young eye's 👀 anymore 🥰😉🤣
Mama, 1. She said this was her best seller (think about it!) and 2. I think she assumes you know how to crochet so if you listen, she's spelling it out for you. Let us know how it works out for you. It's a whole new world out there you know? Kids learn from each other and on YT. So when they do a video they do what they have seen.🤷♀️
If you can’t see it….put your glasses on. If you think it is to fast….go to settings and slow it down! It’s not rocket science….and this is coming from a 60 year old…thank you in advance 👏 👏 I think she did a great tutorial…as always 😊
@@marshabenedek5839 Hi Marsha you can also adjust the playback speed by clicking the gear icon. Anything less than 1 will be in slow motion. Hope that helps!
I just have to tell you that I’m so in love with this pattern. I hope you design tons of more hats in the future. That’s the great thing about crochet design. Each year, diff styles change and the great designers (like you) tune into those styles and adapt to them. I’m trying to make one for an older child, like 7 to 12 yrs old. I’m using I Love This Yarn (of course lol) and a 5.5mm Susan Bates inverted hook. All the same counts as the adult hat. Hoping it comes out a good size. I’ll tag ya on Instagram when I’m finished ☺️😉👍🏻👍🏻 Thnks again for being so generous and sharing this 😘 Sande from Jersey 😘
Hi. I very much enjoyed this video. I'm self-taught so I can't read patterns but I try. I'm glad you made this video though because I'm a visual learner 1st. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for the video. I followed along and made 1 in baby soft white wool and it came out perfectly. Halfway through i was thinking to myself how matching fingerless gloves would look great with this. What do you think?
I will try to remember that for future videos. I thought light gray was the perfect yarn color for videos. I think the video it'sself just needs brightened up.. you maybe able to brighten your device screen and that might help
Hi there from New Mexico. Glad I found your channel. You're a great teacher. I'm making this beanie as I commented. Thank you for sharing. It's looking beautiful. Can't wait to finish. Also glad to see I'm not the only one that crochets like this. Yahhhhh❤.
Omgosh thank YOU! Im so glad you like my channel. I try to write my patterns like im talking directly to someone .. idk if you've tried reading mine yet but it might be easier than some others you've tried. Everyone's writing style is different. There's a bunch of free ones on my blog if you just want to check them out!
Started this morning, and in between parenting and household duties, I just finished this hat! This is my favorite hat so far! Thank you for doing all the helpful tips about sizing, tension, and using different yarns! I just absolutely love this pattern! Now I'm off to see what else you've got pattern-wise! 💜
And for comment #3 lmao…. When working up the brim, here is yet another tip from a professional: Work 1 REGULAR sc in both the beginning and ending stitches of every row and only blsc in between. Not only will it be a lot easier to work your base round when beginning the main part of the hat, but it will look a lot neater as well. So (when working the brim), 1 regular sc {in both loops of the stitch}, then work 7 blsc, then end the row with another regular sc {in both loops of the stitch}. ☺️ Trust me, and you’re welcome.
I can’t wait to make this!! Thank you so much for sharing the free pattern. I watched your tutorial and it was excellent. You gave so much information that was helpful, even to someone like me who has been crocheting for years. You are adorable. Merry Christmas!
I'm a bit confused at 29:30 you say puff stitch puff stitch puff stitch decrease so two puff and a decrease. So is it two puffs and a decrease or three puffs and a decrease.
Honestly, this is the Calmest crochet video I have ever seen! Wow! You are fantastic, thank you so much for this pattern and your time and effort to make this👍👍
I'm enjoying this tutorial easy to follow. One thing only, I wish you could zoom in on your work so we could see exactly what you're doing. Thank you for your generosity in sharing this pattern with us.
I really enjoyed doing this. Good teacher. Nice music . Very relaxing. Mine is Caron Galaxy blue band with Denim blue the rest. I got it done in one day,, picking it up off and on . TY. Very nice of you.
Another fab video. this is on my to do list. My daughter in laws are going to love these. Thank you for all the added information, I have been crocheting, (self taught just like you) for over 20 yrs and learning so much from you regarding the choices we make buying our wool. Also learnt a new stitch with the camel stitch from your other video. Thank you xx
I absolutely love your videos and I love this pattern but the brim at 50 is really too small for my head so if I needed to make it to 55 or 60 I don’t know what the remaining stitch count would be when we start working on the body of the hat. Do I just follow your instructions even though my brim is longer?
I have made my 50 rows that measure 14” but there is no way this thing will stretch around my head. It is stretching, but not to the 23” that it needs to go to. And my turning chains are not tight.
Hi. Do you know how I can make this larger or to increase more length? I made it for my adult boss using a bigger hook than suggested, but it is still every small on her and she is a petite woman. It fits more like a bald cap on her as it was so short; it would fit better on a child. Can you help? Thanks!
Thanks for saying that you count your rows diagonally - I do the same because otherwise I end up losing count, too 😆. Loving your crochet projects; just waiting to see how many times I need to make this before I can do your puff stitches as quickly as you do!!
Omg I’m n South America Peru 🇵🇪 I love the Bennie I’m gonna make one now they don’t have anything like the here so I think I can make some money lol they really don’t pay here lol
Hi .... You are an amazing instructor. I have not made this cute bun hat but hope to as soon as my garden season slows down. It is beautiful and I love the stitch pattern. Thank you for taking the time to share your work.
I am wanting to make these but I can’t find your pattern. Can you help me. I would love the pattern so I can make for my granddaughters and great granddaughters for Christmas.
Well, I was careful with my chain ups, but I guess I was too relaxed because my 50 rows is way longer than 14 inches, and I used a 5mm hook. I really don't want to start over, but not sure I have a choice 😢 anyone else have this happen? Suggestions??
Sounds like your tension was too loose. You could just pull out however many rows are extra in length and continue from there but your number of puff stitches will change per row.
I watched this video on your blog last night and it was so easy to follow!! Thank you so much for such an easy to food video! I wanted a closed beanie though and couldnt quite understand how to close it properly from the instructions you provided on the blog. I ended up with huge gaps near the top of the beanie. Not sure if that was a tension issue though. Did you ever create the video with the instructions on how to close the beanie?
You are so welcome! I havent but there are a bunch of baby sizes on this channel where I show how to close. Its the same instructions the numbers are just a little different.
@@ACraftyConcept I did see those but haven't watched them. I will take a look. Thanks so much again, I have subscribed to your channel and your blog and absolutely love the stuff you put out and how well you explain everything!!
I hope you see this, love the pattern thank you for sharing but girl i HAVE to know, where did you get those cubby shelves behind you? Did they come with the house? Did you make them yourself? Is it something you bought and hung up or what? If you bought it, where? If you made it, with what and how please?🤗 Lol i love it so much and need something like that for all my crafting stuff😍 Thanks in advance😘🤟🏼
Hi Lisa sorry for the late reply! My husband build them for me. he build me new ones in our new house too! I share about them a lot on instagram instagram.com/acraftyconcept
This was my first hat. It was so much fun and actually came out great. Any tip for the row of 55 single crochet before you start the puff stitch as far as where to place that gets it the closest to the start? Or is it just willy nilly?
Love this tutorial! I have a bigger size head. I did my brim to my size head I have 72 rows, i am so confused as to how to do the increase with this count! HELP!
Hi! You will need to SC 72+5 around before starting your puff stitches. You may need to add one more row of puffs before you start the decreases, depends on how tall your puff stitches are.
Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial! I have been looking for the perfect pattern for years! You are so easy to follow and calming to listen to throughout. Blessings to you! ❤
I made my first Messy Bun hat using your pattern. Thank You! However, you may want to zoom in more. Visual was not very clear, also considering the yarn color choice.
So I’d did 50 rows for band and it measured 17.5 inches.I was using a 5.50 hook . So I pulled it out to measure 14 inches so I have 42 rows so should I increase up to the 55 total for the single crochet on the beginning row after the band? I guess I’m too relaxed at crocheting? I’m new to crochet but I’m a seasoned knitter.
So I've finished and for my single crochet at the last row I'm not getting 24, it's 29/30. Now I feel defeated like I did something wrong after so much work😞
It's a gorgeous hat, and I love your tutorial. But I did something wrong. The hatband didn't stretch as much as yours did. Maybe because I'm a lefty???
Hello! I am brand spanking new to crochet so please ignore me if this is a stupid question 😅 I am following along here and am using a super bulky yarn, and am noticing I have way more than 14 inches when I have 50 rows. Do I need yo have a smaller weight yarn to do this pattern?
Hi Septa! Welcome to crochet! Yes you need a number 4 weight yarn for this pattern. Some patterns you can make with bigger yarn and just get a bigger piece, like I did with this Gracie Doll www.acraftyconcept.com/giant-gracie-doll/, But for a pattern that needs to "fit" its best for beginners to stick with the suggested yarn. Once you get more comfortable and familiar with crochet you might learn how to adjust a pattern for different yarns on your own! Ill take a mental note that we need a chunky Claire beanie ;)
What do you do if your band isn’t 14in? Can you just keep adding rows till it gets there? It does it have to be 50rows for when you start doing your decreasing rounds?
Sorry I made this today and tried it on and it looks ridiculous it's nothing like the fit in the picture it's even to tight for my kids. Very hard to follow as well such ashame as it looks amazing
Im sorry you feel that way. This is probably my best explained video since i've made so many of these beanies. If you found this one hard to follow I may not be the crochet designer for you. But there are lots of amazing folks out there with messy bun beanie patterns! I hope you find one you love :) Best of luck!
I tried to keep up, but as a beginner, I could not see what stitch you were going in when you started each new row and my rows kept decreasing. Please explain exactly which stitch when you turn that you go into and how many stitches should be in each row. Thank you
I had to slow down and zoom in, too. The most difficult was the turn and than do the increase... i couldn't really see whitch stitches i had to stitch into 😅 but so far it looks good, not that clean but okay for the first time. Thank you
I love how easy and beautiful the hat is. I will make it and will try to upload the picture. But, could you tell me where you get the beautiful little tag you swed on the front of the hat? I would love to make some so I can give the gift with a personal touch:)
Thankyou! One thing I've done a couple but my bottom band stretches and then stays big 🙊 Im following it all and it also doesn't seem to puff out after the bottom band it's just kind of all the same size and stretched 🤦🏼♀️ any help 🖤
When you were doing this pattern, you were going a little too fast and it was difficult to follow. I pulled it apart in frustration and went to find something easier to follow. 😊
I have a blog post showing where I used different yarns to see how they'd work up. Some were too big and some were too small. Its an oldie but goodie on my blog. if you search "yarn experiment" you'll find it.
For some reason my count keeps being off every time. I did the ten chain the SC second row ch 1 then go in back loop this is when my count somehow gets messed up? Advice please
In case anyone with tight tension reads this, I had to use an L before I met gauge. I have an average sized head I think but J and K hooks were still too tight.
Is there a link for this beanie without the hole for the bun? I looked but couldn't find it. Love this pattern and can't wait to make it. Want to make it without hole too!
Your a good teacher, however wish you would do this again with lighter colored yarn, and much slower for us beginners, can’t see where you added 5 stitches into. Please re- a video for us to follow along with 😬🙏 please
I hated the puff stitch until I saw you doing yours so effortlessly. I started doing mine as fast as I could and it was so easy when you just go for it!! Thanks for such a cute pattern... I've made 5 so far and love them!
This pattern doesnt come in a toddler size. There's a closed version for toddlers here on my channel you could modify to be a bun version though ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sWJXA2AHMjw.html
Hi Rose. The closed version is photographed in the blog post. There isn’t a video but there is a video for the toddler version. It would be pretty easy to watch that video then follow the pattern for the bigger size :)
