//FAQs??
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How much yarn do I need?
Unfortunately, I will be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.

I just wanted to say thank you. I came home from a doctor appointment several years ago, feeling encouraged and I went online and watched your video on how to crochet granny squares. You taught me to crochet and helped me donate more blankets for the homeless. Due to multiple sclerosis and arthritis I had not been able to knit like I once did. For some reason crocheting is easier on my hands.

@@cynthiarobinson3048 Thank you for the suggestion. I will look into them. I have found some relief in using rubber coated (ergonomic or soft touch?) crochet hooks.
@cynthiarobinson3048

@@lindamakowski7387 I use those too... rebuilding my supply of hooks... I inherited all of my grandmothers supplies & have a tennis ball can nearly full of hooks.😅... I found some interchangeable foam cylanders and they are a very strong foam with a softer outer core to make it gentler on the hands but they work well too. I need a pair of pliers to change the hooks out thats how tightly they fit. Rebuilding the supply is my goal... and will donate those I can't use any longer.

@@cynthiarobinson3048 My paternal Grandmother taught me knit when I was young and I still have the knitting needles she gave me. Her favorite color was purple and I always put a little purple in everything I crochet and knit, in honor of her. Such good memories.

@@bellacococrochet I made a pair of slippers yesterday and used your technique. The edges came out PERFECT. Sadly I did not take a picture but will make another pair and share the finished rectangle before assembling. I am already changing the pattern to include a top portion to go above the ankle using a potion from anothrr pattern... currently they stop at the ankle. Love this one though because you attache leather pieces to the soles and up the seem at the backside - heel of the slipper. So cute!😊❤

Thank you so much for this video! It has helped me so much. I do have one question, what happens on the very last row of the crochet project? The “loose loop” that gets fixed when the next row joins the loop together more tightly. What happens when you are all done and the top row of your project has this loose loop due to the turn?

I'm currently working on an afghan that is half-double cr, slip st, half dbl, slip st. Throughout. A very pretty pattern, but I'm wondering when I end a row with a slip st. , ch 2. How I would use this technique when my next row begins with a half dbl crochet?
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet Год назад
In that case I think I would skip the chain two, and then proceed to work your two double crochets stacked on top of each other (single crochets in the US) as shown in the video, and then continue in pattern. Hope I've understood you correctly and that that makes sense 😊

Thank you 😊 If your pattern calls for two half trebles in the first stitch, you can make your first half treble a standing stitch as shown in the video. You might also want to check out my alternative method for straight edges here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YA46KLsg9LM.html 😊

Since you are eliminating the turning chain stitches, does that mean that you should leave the extra "plus" chains added to b the starting chain?

If you’re using this method from the beginning into the foundation chain then yes, you can leave the extra chains for turning 😊

Another brilliant tutorial Sarah-Jayne. Thank you. I hope it’s not a really daft question 🫣 but….. would you just add a stitch onto which ever project your working on to be able to do this?
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet Год назад
Thank you so much! 😊 Not a daft question at all - you can use this technique whenever you need to join a new yarn or colour to a project, so you would do this instead of attaching your yarn with a slip stitch and then chaining. The standing stitch would take the place of the chain stitches.
