SUPER SOLID GRANNY SQUARE - I’m so happy to bring you this super sold granny square today. A few years ago, someone asked me if there was a way of doing a solid granny square with absolutely NO holes. So I sat down and created one….only for it to be lost in a pile of yarn and forgotten about! So when I discovered it again a few weeks back, I thought to myself ‘I HAVE TO DO A TUTORIAL FOR THIS’ and that’s exactly what I did.
I have used Paintbox Simply Aran - Pansey Purple - bit.ly/PBSimplyAran

FAQs??
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How much yarn do I need?
Unfortunately, I will be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.
-What equipment do you use?

Life hack for my fellow adhd sufferers, if you have trouble keeping count as you stitch, use a stitch marker an place there’s a change up, you can get lost in the repetition without losing your place. And for beginners, if you don’t have stitch markers, or you’re like me and always lose the dang things, use bobby-pins or paper clips, they work just fine. 🖤

I was surprised how small the square turned out. I want to add another color and make it a bit larger. Were you happy with how yours turned out & would you be so kind as to offer any suggestions on how i can make this a bit larger🥰thank you so very much
@clairemckinstray5175
@clairemckinstray5175 2 года назад
@@lisal9633 hi Lisa, I ended up making a different blanket, if you want your square to be bigger, I would suggest using a thicker weight yarn and bigger hook or if it’s DK weight you have just keep adding more rounds to the square and you can change colours whenever you like, Just tie off the colour your using and start using the next colour, I would add your new colour into a different corner/stitch from where you end the previous colour as this will avoid possible too much thickness at the 1 corner when you weave in your ends 💖 hope that helps 😊

I have a naturally tighter weave so I was getting weird bumps in the corners of the first round where the triple treble was. Instead I just went up a hook size from 5mm to 6mm and did 3 double trebles for the corners of the first round like you would for all the other rounds. No more bumps! Well, minimal bumpage

Best square yet! Mines very thick and quite dry due to the wrong wool but it will make a great face scrubber in the morning. Best square shape yet. Brilliant Bella thankyou ✌️♥️🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Because this granny squares consists of so many stitches worked tightly together, it does have a tendency to curl up if too many rounds are worked. You may be better working lots of smaller squares and joining them together to make a blanket 😊

Hello, just a very simple question, but the answer is rather confusing, at least for me, as a beginner to crochet. Why do the terms double crochet, triple crochet have a different name in USA and UK? The finished item using either double or triple stitch, isn't it the same? Thank you for your time and help.
@bellacococrochet

It can be quite confusing. They are the same stitch its just that the UK and the US use different terminology so for instance a UK double is a US single (the same stitch just know by different names) :)

@cathymartin3379, You are so right, "... If you watch a lot of videos" 😂.. As a beginner, I do the following trick. When I found out that USA and UK use a different terminology, I first check the youtuber's country and then start watching the tutorial 😂 I must confess that the first video I watched (2 months ago) it was a disaster to understand what the heck was going on 😂

I was trying to follow along but it was so fast and my yarn was stiff and I 😭😭😭😭

It's a good tutorial though, don't get me wrong. I'm just frustrated because I'm a beginner

You have to remember that crochet is practice and patience so don't give up. If you feel yourself getting frustrated put your work down and go back later or even the next day. It will get easier and I wish you the best of luck with your crochet journey :)

Yes, you can keep on adding rounds until you reach the size you want 😊

My granny square is slanted, does anyone know why?
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet Год назад
It's normal for granny squares to slant slightly as we're working round and round in the same direction - blocking it should help but you can also flip your square over after each round 😊

Thank you 😊 I would double check the written instructions over on my blog here: blog.bellacococrochet.com/super-solid-granny-square/ to make sure you’re crocheting everything correctly.

Mine turned out looking half like a circle and half like a square after the first round. Couldn’t even start the second round. Had to unravel. 😢

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. If you pop along to my blog you can find the written instructions: blog.bellacococrochet.com/super-solid-granny-square/ You can use these in conjunction with the video tutorial to double check that you're working the first round correctly 😊

@@bellacococrochet not sure if I just did my stitches too tight or if my hook was too small. I just started crocheting less than a week ago.
