Its like the most cool popular kid in high school checking up on the least popular kid and just being there for them with no judgment and just friendship.
Poor Switek! Crockett is definitely a man of few words, but the way he holds Switek after he breaks down is very well done. The freeze frame with him holding Switek and not saying anything is very moving.
I know there were complaints at the time that the show focused too much on Crockett over even Tubbs (and they weren't entirely unwarranted). But I liked how when the story focused on another main character and they were in trouble, Crockett was there for them, just like they'd been there for him. By this time in the series, Crockett's already been through the Burnett storyline and a lot of other crazy stuff, so his not judging Switek is a pretty big deal. He gets what Switek is going through and he's nothing but supportive.
Is it possible to put the masterful action-shooting scene in the mall, with Stan, from the episode "Down for the Count" (season 3), including the moment when, at the end of the shooting, Stan remembers in flashback the last goodbye of his dead friend, holding him in his arms for the last time, under an emotive music of Jan Hammer ?
Only way to get "Evan" now is buy the DVD. Reason it can't be found online is there has been a disagreement between Universal and Peter Gabriel's record label over the use of his song, Biko, in the original episode.
If now they cant bring back retired all Detectives Crockett, Switek & Tubbs but for the love of Miami Vice give a chance make a storyline about Billy Crocket as Vice Detective. That boy has a strong character like Sonny!
This and when Larry died is the only times I cried for "Vice". They dropped a lot of storylines in Vice, but this was a good one. And fine acted. I do not know how many times they did this shot, but they got this one in one shot. No cuts. The last season played right because it shows the reality of the job. First season was short hair, some funny lines, spit and vinegar characters, but by 5th season, hair longer, tired out look, just dealing. BUT...they missed so many good directions to go. Oh well...I write it in my mind at times.
