I don’t think anyone likes the plastic breech . It’s just about the same cost to buy the steel breech as to buy the gun . Kinda a shame . I think the beeman 2027 or Diana chaser is definitely the way to go if you do t want to keep dumping money into it
@KevinMillard68
@KevinMillard68 2 года назад
consider this tho the 2240 is the wolds most sold and most modable airgun there has ever been

The chaser is made in CHina I think, so I wonder how the parts availability will be in a few years from now.

I like the steel breach. I was going to replace my plastic one. But for 10 metres using the stock and the peep sight I was getting good accuracy with 10mm groups straight out of the box. The lack of recoil makes it easy. I am used to break barrels so it was nice not to have to concentrate on technique so much. Although trigger control it's still important. So I thought I would leave it alone for now and see if it maintains its accuracy. I have other rifles with optics for much longer distances that are accurate enough for my needs. So I am content. But I think your mods are fantastic.

thanks for the comment, as long as you have a good barre alignment and you can site you gun in proper and its gota good crown in it and the gun likes the pelltets and you have good trigger control thoes are the key things you need other hten alot of pratice to have good accuracy with any gun really. the steel breech offers alot of optimal advantages for sure but if you dont need them then you dont need to buy one i lke the idea of the new options for better rear sites and mountable optics and perfect barrel alignment and stability and such that the steel breech offers plus i hate platic and it is nicer when using longer then stock barrels to. we all like difference things i still have 1 2240 that other then the grips the rest is stock..

I'm kind of in the same boat with my 1377. Upgrading the breach is calling to me, but I use it mostly inside of 10m and entirely within 20m (I could probably count the number of shots longer than that on my fingers), and with a Picatinny rail that I designed and 3D printed that fits snug on the barrel, indexes on the lower tube and against the front of the breach mounting a red dot and some trigger work this thing is more accurate and repeatable than I am, which has kept me from messing with it so far.

Thanks, that answered my questions I had about the steel breech

I've read and always believed that a non springer powered gun such as a C02 powered gun has basically no kick as you described which the muzzle brake was made for.
@KevinMillard68
@KevinMillard68 2 года назад
some co2 guns do have a bit of kick for sure and i have shot many with out kick springers are well some kick some dont depend on the power of the springer gun the advanatge of spring powered is you can shoot them all year round with very litttle affect on power how ever PCP and pumpup guns are the best for all year round shooting even in the cold a a pumper is not affected and a PCP is supposed to be the same

love your grips :) , they make a nice plastic after market breech that looks just like the steel one but not as heavy honestly most would have a hard time telling the difference in looks and performance. I will post a video of it soon.

Hi kevys i have the plastic breech also i brought the magazine for the plastic breech which has not been installed as yet,the gun and scope was working fine on till it went in its case which has knocked out the aim ,so now the barrel moves side to side,how can i deal with this without buy steal breech please??
@KevinMillard68
@KevinMillard68 6 месяцев назад
your best bet is the steel breech and its got the rails on it as well so once dialed in it will hold and for more security use the barrel band as well with the steel breech .. i had the barrel mounts that are used when you only have the plastic breech they also get knocked out fast and all the the time the steel breech is the best way never gives me any problems at all.

So how does the aluminum breach that you see on ebay compare to the steel one? For that matter, what actually wears out on the plastic one? Is it something that is reinforced by something like the CleverCraft add on Picatinny rail which wraps around the barrel and the plastic breach? I understand how the steel breach is better, but I wonder about adding almost half a pound to the pistol (I currently don't have a stock on mine and use it as a pistol), as well as not being thrilled about loosing the rear site and why are all these things made with a dovetail in this day and age? The aluminum breach saves almost 5oz over the steel one and lets you keep the factory sights, has 2 stabilizing screws compared to the steel one's 1, although it still has the dovtail vs a rail and again, I don't know what wears on the plastic one and the aluminum breach may not solve that (aluminum is likely stronger than plastic but depending on what is wearing and the grade of aluminum used it could wear faster, if it is just the plastic stretching when exposed to pressure this might be a perfect improvement). The CleverCraft adds a proper rail that wraps around the barrel and the breach, likely a more stable mount for an optic than my 3D printed piece, and saves weight over the steel breach but I'm not sure if it does anything to prevent wear and tear.

the plastic on the plasic one is what wears out, as for the aluim to steel no idea man i only buy the crosman steel breeches I wont buy alum breeches and how ever i made a brass hexbreeb before and it was nice

Only part that could possibly wear is the Slide slot for the Bolt. And on My 2240... which is ~30 yrs old there is no wear.

Nice video! I’ve been loving my 2240XL first real air gun before my jump to the avenger! Curious can you make me a 2240 threaded muzzle break with a front sight pin? I’d love to plink open sights.

Why not just make some lead washers from used pellets to fix the transfer port sealing issues ? ? ?
@KevinMillard68
@KevinMillard68 Год назад
because it wont work very well if at all it would have to be really thin and to get the proper thickness would be more work then its worth
@barenekid9695
@barenekid9695 11 месяцев назад
I used a washer cut from thin Silicone sheet material similar to what Dentists use as 'dams' . It gets squeezed into sealing .. V well.

I stil have that set of grips I made , as for sights no idea what your talking about other then that there is the wiliams notch site the LPA rear site as well. and there was a 3rd breech as well foir steel breech that you coulsd use the stock plastic rear site with .. but that wa a short lived breech no one really bought it

Advertised as steel then says aluminum, which is it?
@KevinMillard68
@KevinMillard68 2 года назад
mine are all steel breechs if a magnet sticks its still if it dont hten it would be alium also steel is heavy alium is really light weight these are heavey so thats what i know, now if they have started to make them out of aluim in the last while i have no idea my self anything is possible
@terryglenweaver

@@KevinMillard68 Now why didn't I think of that? Oh yeah as a retired welder, and ex-chrome plating manager plus more... What you failed to understand; to run that test requires one to first purchase the part. And these sites are calling these parts steel... then perhaps coming forward with they are aluminum. Add to that, many sellers are falsely (on purpose) steering customers wrongly.
