I think that caling Hiller's content 'negative' is lazy.
@Therealkevin87

I like how CrossFit HQ specifically Dave and Don talk shit about Hiller, then say well I haven't actually watched his videos its just what I heard. Or I watched a 20 second clip taken out of context. Even Dave made a video telling Hiller to make a video with the positives then several weeks later admits to not watching it 🤡🤡🤡

Don McFaul is the least inspirational CEO of any company ever. Bland vision. Unexcited. Unexciting. CF is doomed.

It’s apparent that those who criticise Hiller, don’t watch his videos or the full videos at least! Then when pressed about it fail to see the many valuable and valid criticisms he makes!

You out did yourself on this video Pedro. This interview was amazing. An open conversation with Don about these hard subjects is what the CrossFit needs.

I hate corporate talk. I love Pedro. That’s all.
@Bern1808
@Bern1808 3 месяца назад
Pedro's questioning style is on point, always professional and respectful. However, when it comes to interviewing Don, it's like asking ChatGPT questions with instructions that it include as many cliches and generic business bullet points as possible. Don sticks hard to the bullet points. His style seems to be slip-and-roll, with very little punch (except for bashing Hiller).
@tbird7606

How would you like him to respond?
@Bern1808
@Bern1808 3 месяца назад
@@tbird7606 I appreciate honesty and direct answers. It's frustrating when someone in an interview avoids direct questions using slick, rhetorical techniques. Don never admits to a mistake or weakness; he always spins it to "an opportunity for a productive conversation toward future optimization in support of affiliates, blah, blah. Corporate word porn really grates on me. Once Don moves on from what's left of CrossFit, I can imagine him being very successful as a used car salesman, a spokesperson for a cryptocurrency, or even taking Karine Jean-Pierre's job if it becomes available. He has the skills for it.

@@Bern1808but that’s what people in his role get paid to do. Even in the military above a certain rank it’s the same. I was surprised how high USA retention was at 90 % I bet Frank won’t like that 😂 and I bet Europe is the same or higher.

Exactly, I cannot stand Don's non-committal on any of the real issues. To use old terminology he's such a fence sitter! The lack of ownership and accountability is tantamount to negligence. Not once did I hear him say "yes we got that wrong and we're fixing it like this". While Dave is a little overprotective of his chickens, he certainly does own his shortcomings or the errors he has made.

Don Faul is a US Naval Academy grad, a USMC infantry officer, etc. He's undoubtedly made a lot of money as a tech exec in Silicon Valley,. I'd wager he's independently wealthy. Yet, why does he come across as such a corporate stooge here?
@BananaDanceMan
@BananaDanceMan 3 месяца назад
he was a manager, not an exec. Far from independently wealthy. He is exactly as you described, a guy who takes orders and executes. Not an entrepreneurial bone in his body, definition of a corporate stooge.

Some people call it negative and some people dont. There will always be two sides of thinking to what people think if Hiller. I personally don't always like his videos...imo some are good and some arent. It would be great if he reaches out to people first before making videos to get the actual story but he admits he doesn't do that. Which is fine if that is what he wants to do.

Brilliant. Well done on how you approached the media aspect of it. Didn't dance around the subject, went into it in a mature and open minded way to allow the answer not to be closed and defensive. Excellent, you're the one to beat in the interview area for CrossFit.

My take is Faul should never do a podcast again. This is critical yikes. CRITICAL. The dude sounds like a lame duck puppet worried about feelings and money. Which I get cause now the people who run CF are worried about feelings or money. But man this is so far from the roots of CF. Oh well. Train the methodology and stay healthy is all ya really need to know. do it in an affiliate if possible.

"Subset, subset, subset." Also, for all the talk about alleged negativity, there's a lot of it coming from DF that can't be substantiated. At least Hiller corroborates his "alleged negativity" with evidence.

It would have been cool to hear Don actually answer a single question. Every single one he took the general topic and just rambled and was very defensive in a non aggressive hr safe way. Overall a super frustrating interview to listen to - coming from someone with experience in corp bis culture and isn’t normally bothered by “legally safe response” or translating corp speak back to human

Great questions Peter, unfortunately I couldn't listen past the 35 minute mark. I was getting flashbacks to zoom meetings listening to some corporate suit spout off endless business jargon without ever saying anything of substance. When you compare how other CF employees like Dave, Boz, Chuck or Chase speak about CF as a methodology & sport, Don really falls short.
