Crossing yet another ocean after the End of the GLYWO 500 - Sailing Greatcircle (ep. 344) 

You would almost forget that there was a life before sailing. We have been sailing a catamaran now close to fulltime since September 2015 when we collected our L39 from Les Sables and sailed her to above the arctic circle in amazing Norway. We’ve seen so many beautiful places and had loads of fun both sailing and at the destinations for about 65.000 miles now. We can only hope there’s plenty more to come ..

Sorry I wasn’t able to maintain the weekly schedule lately but it felt silly to cut them in two

First we will continue sailing along the Portuguese, Spanish and French coast and we hope to make a final decision on what’s next mid September on the Cannes boat show

We are always looking for an optimum between comfort, performance and sorry to say also looks. I don’t think we will look for something more performant than the 55 except for the fact that bigger might always be a bit faster but again with more comfort as well.

Most of the stuff we had was related to the mileage, some like the spi halyard and the rudder on Fiji caused by human error but there were also a couple of more recall kind of issues like the size of the rudders and upgrading the davits. And there was of course the tourist boat on Aruba that hit us while we were on anchor

🤣 we were thinking that we are really careful 🙈. The part at the bottom of the stay shouldn’t have broken of course so we are really interested to hear about the results from the investigation of this part by the supplier

Literally watched all of your films for the sail trimming and offshore. Very hard for a novice without years behind the helm to get the “sea time” but you can run through hrs of YT weather and people’s experience to try and catch up a little.. also good to see what boats will be good buys in 10/15yrs when the rest of us mortals can afford them 😂 but you two are serious sailors chapeau!

We are on our way to the Cannes Boat Show to show how the boat looks after 40.000 nm and 3 years. The hand over is end of September.

@CatGreatcircle we are loving it after our first ocean crossing. SxM to Horta to Punto Delgada to Lagos. We have a 8 yr old and a 13 yr old. They are loving it here after all the sailing some marina time.

We hope to find out in the next 3 months

Depending on the final choice of the new boat but we would very much like that. We hope to be able to make a decision before or at the Cannes boat show

@@CatGreatcircle honestly, for as much as you fly the drone, especially underway... many others have a much worse loss rate. That isn't too bad. There have been lots of great shots.

She was sold 5 years ago, the day we bought her. Discussing the next boat as we speak.

Yes in LGM they will apparently put a new carbon cross on. I don’t think performance wise there’s a big difference apart from the size of the sails but it REALLY looks good 😇
