I was a driver for Airborne Express, this was on my route along with Parker, Big River, Quartzite, Blythe, and all points in between! It was the best job I ever had!!!
Thank you for the journey, due to ill health (been for a while) medication and age I can't travel, in fact I'm also limited in my own country (New Zealand) due to not being able to drive due to medication. So watching you (especially full-screen) takes me to a place I can't go in person. So thank the internet and you tube but most of all thank you for showing me a huge chunk of your country. Keep on trucking and I'll keep watching.
You've got my husband saying "cool" & "check it out" and then he laughs. 😄 He's been binging your channel! We really enjoy your explorations. Thank you! 😁
Many thanks for a great guided tour Russ, your commentary and drone sequences are always so informative. I suspect many of us watching from chilly northern climes would love to spend the winter down there!
Hello Russ! So good to see the Parker Strip and the Colorado River water level is looking good. We are members of Emerald Cove RV Resort have been for 16 years. Love that place. Yeah it's older but very enjoyable to stay at. Great people and the best food at the Tiki Bar and club house. We will be headed there in a few weeks. Thanks for whetting my appetite! Lol!
Me my Dad, Cousin and Uncle watched the Parker 400 Enduro motorcycle race in around 1970. The last time I was there. It's where I learned to ride a motorcycle. Very good memories! 👍
Never get tired of seeing that beautiful river so many great memories. We always saw the wild donkeys in the evening maybe because it was cooler. Another great video Russ thanks again.
Parker dam is the deepest dam in the world. I started going to the Parker strip in 1960. My folks leased a trailer at Echo Lodge on "A row" in the 70's. Great memories.
Russ, this is funny. I was in Parker today. Went to check out some of the places you suggested. Went up to the Dam, some of the floating bars on the river, Bill William's Refuge, BlueWater resort. As I drove on the 95 I wondered if I would come across you and your White Mother Ship (now that you have an E-Bike). Last night I stayed in the London Bridge area at one of the resorts. Had a nice dinner and great walk with my wife. The area is fantastic. Just got home to the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. I drove my EV and discovered Range Anxiety is a waste of time. They have chargers everywhere. I'm hoping to go to Oatman and feed the Burros before it starts to get really cold. Thank you for all the tips.
Thanks Russ! Enjoyed seeing The Mighty Colorada River and your memories of bringing Scooby 2 to swim in it! I wish you could get a Scooby 3 and create new memories! I wish we could have seen a burro or two though! Come back here again this year in 2024!❤️😀🇺🇸🚙🐎🐕🦺🐺
We are heading to Arizona next week and love all your informative videos of the different camping areas. Very pretty campground! Thanks for sharing!! 💙Terry and Terri
Nice to see clear skies we're up here up in Washington and it's really smokey from all the forest fires have a great day Russ we enjoy watching you be safe
Nice to see you back on the road. Enjoy your videos. southern Nevada, Arizona and Southern California have the mild winter weather to entice the snow birds who enjoy it.
🙋Hello Russ! Beautiful day to ride out to see Crossroads Campground. Offered some nice places to camp along the Colorado River. The sun sparkling across the top of the river, the tables, kindly welcome you in. Beautiful blue body of water. Nice place to enjoy riding a e-bike. The aerial view shows how enjoyable trails for ATVs are follow. Enjoy the rest of your evening Russ. Have a good week.
Hi, Russ. I enjoy your videos, always entertaining. You mentioned Burros, you drove by one on this video, around 18:14 on the video, and I think he was looking at you. 👍 Happy Trails!
There was a burrow on the driver's side of the road. Just before you said, there's the sand duns, the burrow was standing by the white blocks on the side of the road in the shade.
déjà vu is a feeling I have when watch your videos, I am glad I am not the only Old guy that talks to himself lol Maybe sometime you can go to the Pacific Northwest ???
Love your videos. So peaceful and relaxing. I miss being out on the road. Your videos make me feel like I am riding shotgun to all these wonderful places. Thanks Russ! 👍
That's a really nice drive. Nice campground. Exceptional drone footage, so clear. Such a neat train bridge. Good to see Parker dam, nice piece of history. 🙂👍
You past the government camp my family I use to live at. They put a fence and tore down the houses and Parker grade school. I use to go to that post office all the time. There use to be a little grocery store which we would go to.Spent hours on the river and crossed over the dam hundreds of times for 5 years. My dad use to be apower plant operator there. The hippies use to love this area.
The river and the weather are the beauty of that area , The landscaping not so much. Most people are there for the temps. And great to go out and tear up the ground on a ATV.
i sure miss my puppy , but she had a good life she has been everywhere -found her as a baby living under a slab by the airport -- mother left her as she was FULL of worms got her veted and lived to be about 15 .my girl Pearl .
YOU REALLY NEED TO COME TO NORTH IDAHO AND CANADA. DO THE SELKIRK LOOP. 20 MINUTE FREE FERRY RIDE ACROSS KOOTNAY LAKE AND LOTS OF RIVERS AND DAMS. MOUNTAINS AND REALLY BEAUTIFUL SCENERY
That looks so inviting. Nice tour around and with the drone really get to see way out there! I’m guessing not every radio was tuned to David Bowie’s Let’s Dance … otherwise I’d hope you get a few days stay out there!
Crossroads Campgroung looks a lot like the campground south of Bombay Beach along the Salton Sea on US Rte 111 in Southern California. I stopped there twice in 2017 and 2018 in July and it was gawdawful HOT. I was literally alone in the campground but the Ranger made me pay full price for a site with no commodities. California is expensive and the personnel is rude towards visitors. Anyway I love your videos ! CHEERS ! RICHARD
Big Bend Resort has a restaurant on the water; it's behind the store that's usually closed. It's a breakfast and lunch spot and was closed for several years. Decent Pizza...
i used to stop at crossroads , but last few times it was near impossible due to numbers of people waiting ( first come/first served)........i've NEVER seen it as empty as you found it.... what month was this filmed ? ? ? ......... .i LOVED it when i was there 5-7 yrs. ago, but i'd quit going due to freustration ..........if you see this , let me know , please
Yeah that great big canal that goes from just above Parker dam headed towards California actually it's going to lake Matthews the canal has been dry long time remember last time you were there it was dry all the canals coming off of the Colorado River in California a very very low especially the one that goes to Indio Coachella valley canal
Interesting. I compare this to what I saw there in 1967-68, over 50 years ago. Parker and the AZ strip up to the dam are 10 times the size in population and built environments. However, the northern stretch of the California side you drove through in this video looks pretty much the same as it did 50 years ago, semi-rural.
Just wondering what time of the day and what day of the month, week you visited. Great informative video and always enlightening. Thank you! Oh and do you have any plans to make it to Tucson, AZ? Would love to see your perspective. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
For cross roads campground... did the sign say "no dogs allowed". I was thinking to staying there a few nights this coming Feb. but I have a dog. Thank you
Gosh I just love ur vedios, I'm leaving Conway, mo. Monday I stop in Armrillo over nite, then I'm staying in New Mexico until I save more gas money then hitting Flagstaff, I'm wking my way to were ur at.quartsite, never nbeen there any tips...Thx joe osiel
Is the railroad bridge still in service, Russ? What railroad company? Since there is no industry around there, is the only employment tied to recreation (or government)? Is Lake Havasu becoming more popular than Lake Mead?
I kno you like the scenery there Russ. But I prefer more greenery, trees an the like. Once you get away from the river there, it looks like Mars. Right now in southern West Virginia the Fall folage is in full glory and breath taking.....just not a fan of what's coming next.
Not many tortoises left because of the off-roaders. They took a bunch of burros off the reservations on both sides because they were getting hit by cars and had to be put down.
Looks so barren and desolet...NO trees.....no..not pretty. Very disappointed. Great video but not sure that country is my cup of tea. You have to PAY to boondock. AT LEAST WATER AND A FEW TREES
Watching your videos from San Francisco Bay Area two miles from the coast fog and packed traffic, it’s funny seeing a road with a few cars on it , after watching your videos I’m learning all the roads and lookouts like above Parker dam been there , keep showing new places out there , get that ebike out on a dirt road , yea , talk soon
