I like to troll a Dave Davis with a night crawler 18'' back on a #4 baitholder. A purple jig off any of the points will get you more Sacramento Perch than you want to clean.

I fish the Owen's above Crowley and I go down Benton Crossing RD and then drive along the 4x4 dirt roads and I'm pretty sure you could do the same to the lake. Google earth that road.

The spot groupings on the first trout you kept look more like a cutthroat than a rainbow.

The green Church off 395 is that Benton Crossing Road there's actually several turn-offs the barricades are set up so people cannot pull trailers in there you could go down further and it will take you closer to the inlet near Willy's Hot Springs this is all on Google Maps

If you use Google earth you can see the tire track of the car driving in, hopefully that can help you.

They also called the West Flats the Green Banks yes you could get there from the 395 you have to turn down a road at the green church at the bottom of the hill you drive about a mile-and-a-half to where you see Road barricades off the road that's where you turn in as You Follow the dirt road you have to stay to the left don't stay to the right that will take you to the West flats for the Green Banks it's a secret spot among many veteran fisherman if you use Google Maps it might pick up the dirt road

Your landing net is way too big for your size kayak I use a float tube and I have an arm's length landing net never fails me it's on a lanyard that stretches connected to the tube I don't use two pound test I use 426 possibly two pound test leader but the trout can get up to 8 lb in that lake or more I've caught five town and he will easily snap your 2 lb test

You're right, I've seen some very large trout pulled out of that lake! I'm going to try fly fishing the next time I'm up there!
