Just seeing those Haynes manuals evoke anxiety and memories of repairs from years ago. The grainy pictures, misprints and lack of detailed information, really didn't contribute to the job at hand. Grateful to have folks like yourself posting content on here to decipher it for us.

Right on Death, I grew up using those paper manuals, and yes these Haynes do omit a lot of info. But I bought this one because it was only $5, and it gave me a nice nostalgia feeling to my first days of driving. lol And, thanks for the kind words. My goal is to "Under promise, and Over deliver". -Chuck

This comment isn’t showing up in the comment section, and I can only see the notification. But it’s so flattering, I had to copy & paste it myself. lol; Butlers Channel: Chuck, you’re the “AAA Web Side Assistance” of the Panther Community saving everyone time, and money with valuable information. What’s missing from the PCV story is the dealer didn’t even have it in stock.

Good video Chuck. I didn’t know that some pcv valves came with a heater. I’ll watch for that. Just thinking about it now with a blower and a catch can setup I don’t want any pcv I don’t think? I’m deleting egr too. No inspections here.
@PanzerPlatform

Right on C-Raud, Neither did I. I've only heard of heated Oxygen Sensors before. I know right, no inspections? Rip that sucker right out. Although you may get tired of wiping away the mess of running an open breather set up. Deleting the EGR system may have some negative consequences too, but I'm sure you know the pros & cons. -Chuck

Good counsel about the PCV valve, not only that part but likely others that if "incorrect" but functional may trigger the 'check engine' light. My 04 CVPI was from the cops in a striped State but I'm now in a grey State, will have to be thoughtful when the time comes to replace certain parts. Local Ford dealer is pretty competent. OEM or equivalent always is preferable in the long term.

Hi Chuck! Thanks for the informative video. I have a 2010 Lincoln Town Car from California. I purchased a PCV valve today and was sold the heated $75 one. Upon further inspection I saw my car was equipped with the non heated one. I was puzzled. Your video cleared that up. It is good to know that there are indeed two different PCV valves for a 2010 Ford 4.6L.

@@PanzerPlatform Excellent, thanks Chuck! Also thought I’d run this question in the thread for you and our fellow Panther Platform enthusiasts. I’m getting a chattering sound that sounds like a worn timing chain when I fire the car up. When the engine reaches operating temperature and I go up steep hills I hear what sounds like a loose rocker arm. It is intermittent. I changed the oil, and added some Rislone which works with both conventional and synthetic oil to help clear out the oil passages in the upper head. The car has 137,000 miles on it and I don’t know if the timing chains have been changed. Thanks for reading and I welcome any thoughts and input from you and our fellow readers. Thanks so much! -Mitch

@@MitchPolzakMusic Yo Mitch, Questions like yours are what is so helpful to all the guys in the Panther Car Community. Chances are there are a bunch more people with the same exact issue, and they also want help figuring out how to diagnose it. In order to help the most people, and so everyone can benefit from the information, that’s why I do the “Viewer Question” & “Guess The Malfunction” videos. I don’t have all the answers for all the years, and models of Panther Cars. But chances are someone has your exact model, and year, and they have first hand experience diagnosing the cause. The best way I've found is to make a short 1 minute video showing, describing, and explaining your malfunction. Here is a perfect example how to do it; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rTugE6sGmrM.html Let me know if you upload the video to your channel. I will download it, and post it on my channel. Most likely you will get some help in the comment section from someone who has already fixed the issue. Please film your video in the daytime, and in widescreen 1080p, (no vertical video). Here is an example of all the helpful comments you will get; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G0jSA6qzCcE.html -Chuck

Two Portuguese pilots are tasked with landing their commercial jet airliner at an unfamiliar airport. Upon landing they almost wear out the tires, and brakes, and cause a small fire that is quickly put out by ground crews. After the ordeal the captain says to the co-pilot; “I hate this airport, this is the shortest runway I’ve ever seen” The co-pilot says; “Yeah, but look how wide” -Chuck

Great information. Question though... what do you do if the underhood or door sticker is missing or incorrect? A lot of the police departments "frankenstein" their vehicles. For example, my 2010 Charger has a front driver door off of a 2008 - so the door sticker is wrong.
@PanzerPlatform
@PanzerPlatform 3 года назад
Right on Dub-Dandy, This question deserve an entire video to itself, and I purposely chose to omit it from this video for length. This is why it’s important to have Auto Body repairs performed by “qualified, authorized, and certified” Repair Facilities. When something like a hood, or driver door gets the replaced that has a VECI, or FMVS Label, (Vehicle Emission Control Information - Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Label). The Repair Facility should / is supposed to take a high resolution photograph of the label, and send it to a different company that is specialized in making a replacement labels. Many companies exist now a days, but here is one. www.vinslabels.com/replacement-vin-labels-vin-stickers-veci-tire-pressure.html - Unfortunately, once the original label is discarded along with the body panel it’s almost impossible to get a correct replacement label. Mechanics, and Emission Inspection Technicians are faced with this problem every day, and that’s where their education, training, and experience comes in. They may use every resource available to properly identify, an engine, or vehicle. This is especially important when working on a specialty constructed vehicle like a Recreational Vehicle. RV’s often use a custom built chassis, with a “crate engine” that is many years older than the chassis build date. That’s because they buy the engines in bulk, years ahead of time, before the chassis is even built. Example: The 8th digit of the VIN number indicates what engine was installed by the manufacturer. The 10th digit of the VIN number indicates “Vehicle Model Year”. In my home state, Mechanics, and Emission Inspection Technicians must have Dealer Level Service Manuals & Literature for every vehicle they work on, (it can be a hardcopy like a book, or online). If they do not have accurate reference material for a specific vehicle, they are not supposed to work on that vehicle, and may direct the customer to one that is. Whew, I’m tired. Lol -Chuck

@@PanzerPlatform Thanks Chuck and Handy Dad, you gentlemen just inspired me to search for and take photos and print out as many labels as I can find. Especially if in the future the car is repainted and the label is obliterated in the process. Require the shop to protect it with masking tape or whatever is recommended.

I have a 05 crown Vic with one of those expensive heated PCV valves, yes the PCM is monitoring if the connector is plugged or not. I tried to replace mine with the mechanical one (without the electrical connector) and the check engine light came after only few miles.
