Kyle, you'll need REW, Umik-1, and MiniDSP to reap all the benefits of DIY sub. Receiver/Processor EQ is good, but it has its limitations in DIY. For instance, I can see a steep roll-off past 15Hz post calibration, which can be EQd in minidsp for sealed DIY subs. It's okay for now but you should plan for those in the future
I second what Karani said. However I don't think you'll need a MiniDSP you should first try to use the EQ built into the crown. You could also forgo the UMIK-1 mic, ARC is showing you where the peaks are already. I would perform a cuts around the 50hz range with the Crown and then run ARC again. One other tidbit, I bet you could use your ARC mic with REW. Love the progress tho man, can't wait for the next video! Keep up the awesome work.
@@twistacatz I highly doubt the EQ in crown goes below 20Hz. It would be great for ported subs but not sealed sub like this. Also, that arc graph is not as detailed as REW, because it's primarily meant for auto EQ. Yes, the arc mic can be used with rew. He should download rew and familiarize himself with that. If he sees things that need adjusting below 20Hz, minidsp is the way to go. DIYers mostly build sealed subs to maximize on subsonic frequencies, otherwise ported is the way to go.
There is nothing wrong with trying your own path as you have done. Get it working the best of your ability. The sound signature will be slightly different initially but I am sure you will be able to integrate them easily with ARC!
at a buffet, i personally sneak corndogs into the buffet so others can enjoy them. I hide 6 corndogs in my jacket pockets. it then, is a joy for me to see other patrons of the establishment eat my corndogs thinking they were part of the buf
Can’t wait to hear the subwoofer in action, the build looks great and if you want to get a glossy finish try polyurethane by min wax it goes on smooth but you will need to get scotch pads for light sanding between coats around 3 coats will get you a nice finish. I use it after I restored a Leslie organ speaker, I have really like the finish and I have used it a few times about 5 Leslie and some other things as well. Great job so far and I am excited to hear it.
You do not want to run those long speaker cables. Long balanced cables are fine - you don't want longer than 9ft of speaker cable and the shorter the better.
@@Kpaceguy Thank you. Before my back broke and left me in the place I am today I was trying to build a home stereo. Now I can't, but I enjoy watching guys like you work honestly and build something I like. Respect.🤛
Im working on building dual 18" ultimax subs in martycube enclosures but Im stuck on if I should get a Crown XTi 2000 or a Crown XLS2502. Which one would you recommend? Id love to hear your thoughts!
personally I'm not buying either of them because its not enough juice UNLESS you don't wire both subs together inside the box and run one sub per channel, then i'd get the 2502. If you don't mind having two wires coming from the sub then 2502. If you plan to wire internally in the box then go for something more powerful. If you're using the 4ohm version then wire them together and buy the 2502
The subs will be in individual boxes so I was planning on just wiring each sub to their own channel. Should I wire it differently though? This is my first time building anything like this so if you have some advice or recommendations , I’d love to hear it. Maybe a behringer NX6000D would be amp to power 2 18s? Lol that’s another thing, the biggest sub I’ve ever had is an SVS PB13 ultra! This 18” is going to be friggin wild
@@Kpaceguy ok fair enough, truthfull answer!. how far off would you say to your ears the home made rythmik is to the o.g?? Because honestly it looks bad ass mate👍
@@syeanotherday9233 it's crazy close actually! The drivers are built Similar and the box is built exactly the same. I tried to mimic the dsp rythmik uses in their amplifiers the best I could. I'll definitely do a full review/comparison video soon
@@Kpaceguy great👍, can't wait to hear that, you have done what looks like a real solid job on the build of it so I'm really hoping it's a stonking performer!. Time will tell I guess. 👍👍
