Finally got a chance to catch up on videos. A cool refreshing bath looks so marvelous. It’s been over 100° here for a week. My back garden friends come by every day for a dip in the bath. 😎
Of course we watch the whole video. It's our chance to visit Canada and watch your family of creatures....The bathing birds had me wondering where your tap water comes from. 🐸
Hi Kullike and Dennis. The birdies are really enjoying their baths. It's hot here too. I have 2 bird baths with a community of birds flapping around together, starlings and crows. So awesome to see. I feel the bird bath water for temperature because it's so hot. The water goes hot too. I can tell when they don't want to go in coz it's very warm. I change it couple of times a day esp when it goes mirky and warm. Birds are so smart. Soon as I change the water, they are back in. I have no idea how they know the water is fresh and cool. I think they know more than we realize. Yeah the mosquitos. I'm going up north this week for the whole summer. I can imagine the mosquitos. Soon it will be too hot for them to be out during the day. They are usually out in the morning and after 4:30 p.m. And when it rains. . It gives me a chance to sit out on the deck in the afternoon without those pesky mosquitoes. Gonna watch out for wasps and horse/deer flies. The deer flies have a nasty bite if they get a chance. We haven't seen Sonny Boy recently I don't think. Enjoy your week guys.❤
Yeah, we know all about the bugs. Yesterday was overcast and the mosquitos were everywhere. This morning it is sunny and warm with hardly any mosquitos. Want to go for a quad ride later today and the sun will keep the mosquitos away but not those darn flies. Sunny boy is doing fine but either in house or in his little catio on the steps.
My son has been feeding the crows outside. I got a small wading pool for the birds....then I have a smaller stanless steel dog pan I fill two to three times per day for drinking water. I was wondering...should I get them a dishpan instead of the wading pool for something to use as a bath or should I try to find something to put in the pool that they can land on? It isn't that big....maybe 3.5 feet across and maybe 8 to 10 inches deep. We live mid east coast of the US and we are under a mandatory water conservation....I know the wildlife is looking for water so I try to keep something for the birds and the squirrels. Hopefully, we may see some remenants of Hurricane Beryl, but so far, it is not looking good.
Maybe try to put something in the pool for landing on. Also would not put the water that deep. We have our tubs about 4 or 5 inches, so they stand in it.
