Our church has dropped major coin on audio, lighting, and yet the volunteer talent there has been playing and improving for over 10-15 years. Schedule is every 3 weeks. It'd be nice to get paid without having to leave my family to play at another church.

The one thing any musician who has a desire to make this profession a career is really learned to truly except the word NO !!!!. and also do not worry about offending people who don’t want to pay you for your craft by telling he or she NO also regardless the genre of music..Personally I do not play for fun …if I want to do that then I can stay home and do that, but doesn’t mean I don’t likef having fun while I’m performing.. learning the material, traveling to and from rehearsals and performances cost and it also requires a great deal time and dedication …What the Pastor get’s paid ( or not but I highly doubt it ) isn’t a concern of yours and all and most members of the Chior that isn’t paid has nothing to do with you either as far as compensation for your services, however the question sometimes is get paid what and how much…well at that point you’re on serve. Have your business game on point

Volunteed since I was 17 years old as a bass player not worth it anymore last music director I played for was such an ass called me out in front of the whole band how embarrassing now I got a paying job at a music studio it’s like a breath of fresh air they treat me so nice like a real human being so much for humility and compassion from the music director you either make the cut or not and I had plenty of experience we just didn’t get along after that encounter I will never ever talk to him such an ass
