How many guitars do I "need"? Zero. I learned and played a LOT from 10 to 28 years old. Then all were stolen. Life pivoted. Didn't play for the next 35 years. Started again nearly a year ago at 64 years old. Now have 6 guitars. None were bought for "tone". Three are nostalgia & family pieces. The other 3 are just guitars. I play at home, in "the room", for personal enjoyment. My 6 somewhat cover your list.
I thought I was gonna get it for the impulse response but to be honest, I think connvolution reverb makes only sense when doing it on a PC with full tweakability, quick loading in and stuff. I mean if I allready have to load in a reference from a pc, why not do the verb on a pc with a more professional alogrithm (e.g.Reverence in cubase)
That neck has been replaced, is not a Performer neck... Performer has jumbo frets, different logo style, teven he metal neck plate and the knobs has been replaced as well...
I have the Natural Casino. It's a MIC Epiphone. OK build, but the Chinese stock components are not great. Over a year i replaced everything. Yep, totally worth it. It now has its own voice, and its a keeper. I loved it so much that when the Made in USA Epiphone Casino came out, i bought one on the credit card! I still kept the other one thou as its not a 100 miles off. Yep, once you have them in the room you can see with the fit and finish and fine details, there still really good in there own right!
I just got one to review on my channel and it's a GREAT instrument. Our band does a lot of 90's and 2000's rock covers at our acoustic shows and I've got my pedalboard setup to be able to run the piezo output into my Fishman Aura Spectrum DI box then into one input of my fractal FM3 and then the electric output goes to another input of the FM3. I have it setup so I can toggle with a footswitch between the two and go from a really nice acoustic sound to an overdriven guitar using a Friedman amp model for lead work. This is the second import PRS SE I've gotten to review and it's 100% befitting of the price tag IMO. My old band's singer traded in his Taylor T5 when he played the SE hollow Piezo at a local music store.
I agree with you. This is maybe the best Asian guitar, it has a good sound, a really pretty look. But nickel frets, price and PRS brand sign are really weird.
Love my 2011 Deluxe HSS in Sunset metallic! Searched everywhere for one with a maple neck and got it for a steal on Reverb! LSR Roller nut is highly underrated! I like the N3's. With the stock humbucker I think they sound great.
My S2 McCarty 594 in Eriza Verde Smoke Burst is the first PRS I have had and I've been a die hard Gibson and Epiphone player for years. I still like the other 2 but they don't compare to the PRS. Mine has the 58/15 "S" LT pups. The "S" meaning import and I couldn't believe the PRS import pups sound better than Gibson USA pups, IMO. They are great. Mine is a 2022 model that was NOS so i got a deal om it from Chuck Levin's @ $1,400 over the Memorial Day Holiday. The newer S2's have the USA made 58/15's in them now I do believe. I don't see how they could be much better though. I mean these are already better than Gibsons.
I don't know from what planet you're from. But there are plenty of jazz boxes around at affordable prices. Try the Eastman AR322CE, D'Angelico Excel EXL-1, Epiphone Emperor Broadway, Guild Starfire II ST Dyasonic, Ibanez Pat Matheny, and PRSE SE Hollowbody. Should I go on? Hmm, maybe I'll do a show of my own that is researched instead of coming across like a cast member of SNL's "Wayne's World."
Hit the used market. The people at Gibson have lost their minds. The price will never go down. Instead, it has chosen to offer better-looking Epiphone guitars for $1500.00, which is still expensive for a guitar made in China.
I’m in Australia, not sure if it makes any difference, but just bought a Spark Cabinet, hooked it up to my Spark 40, and I have no noise. If I turn the cab up all the way I can hear some noise otherwise good.
I have the all black, only problem I have is the neck dive... :( Humbucker tones can be EQd to taste on your amp or use a JOYO Amp sim like the ACTONE or AMERICN SOUND. Both cheaper than new humbuckers.
Pretty much all of these points will be solved in a software update. However, you have one VERY solid point: the Eventide H90. For just a bit more than this price point, the H90 does WAY more and the reverbs AND delays on it are just as high quality as the Strymon. It’s an absolute beast! The only edge that Big Sky has is the ability to upload the impulses (IMO - this is the best feature).
Sold my 2 very high end and expensive Stratocasters. And, one of the fenders was way more expensive than the silver sky. I’m certainly not a “PRS snob “. But, I’m a working musician. I have about a five year old Sky and it is my number one go to solid body. I also have Heritage 535 for my hollow woody needs. Everyone is allowed their own opinions of course. Some opinions come from actual gigging experience and some opinions are just to create controversy. My Sky has better fit and finish than any of my Fenders had. The Silver Sky has been the most controversial and debated guitar in history I believe. I’m 75 and still gigging. I’ve seen many guitars in my years. And so, here is only my opinion…… if you want a good Fender, get a G&L. If you want a good Gibson, get a Heritage. If you want a good S type, get a Silver Sky. There, I said it. Again, only my opinion. My opinion comes with 55 plus years of experience under my belt.
I don't own A PRS SE Hollowbody II Piezo, but I do own a PRS SE Hollowbody II. I couldn't resist, it was less than half price. However, the guitar is much better than I would expect of a Chinese guitar. Actually I think you could put mine up against some Gibsons and it wouldn't be embarrassed. Is it my best guitar? No. My best guitar isn't American either, though. I have had Indonesian and Korean guitars that were well received, got great reviews... but they were not anywhere near this level. I do agree with the Piezo, for most users it really needs a built in or at least provided preamp, but having it as a separate output doesn't necessarily make that a gimmick. The guitar is probably just more suited to the studio than the stage. Some players have the luxury of multiple amps on stage too, they could take advantage of the second output. That said, I think for 95% of players, the Hollowbody 2 without the piezo is probably a better option. They're great guitars for what I paid, for the asking price they're at least competitive.
Agreed. Or one could just buy it with piezo capability, but then choose to use it most or all of the time as simply a “straight” Hollowbody PRS for that resonance alone. Like a Core Hollowbody model. Just because you have the piezo ability doesn’t mean it’s gotta be used on everything, right? I happen to think the hollow body magnetic tone (alone) is pretty cool, def different than my several other Core solidbodies. (But then I have the piezo as a secret weapon special sauce if I want, too.)
A lot of people use modelers etc so you can have your own patch for the acoustic. I do hate that it doesnt have a toggle switch for the piezo vs mag pick ups though. I think that makes it much less useful live which is really what a piezo type guitar is for. If im playing a song with an acoustic part and an electric part I want to flip a switch and stomp a button and have it switched 100 instantly. I dont want to turn 1 knob up then turn another knob down. If I ever bought one of these I think I would have to add a mini toggle.
AF105F ART CORE JAZZ IBANEZ FITTED WITH GB FLOATING PICK UP ON NECK NO PICKGUARD IS WHAT I USE. TO MY EAR THIS HAS A PROPER JAZZ TONE . THE PICKUP IS A WIDE RANGE FREQUENCY PROVIDING WARMPTH AND CLARITY.
