As you know, I've been all over the world as a solo on cruise ships. 61 countries now. Soon to be 64. I agree, a cruise is the safest way to travel as a solo. The ship has your back on their excursions. You won't miss the ship & if there are any problems you are connected to the ship's help. I wouldn't have done Istanbul, or Tunisia, or several other places alone without a ship tour. Also love the choice of participating with others, or not. But what I really enjoy is meeting friends I've cruised with before & especially new people. Ship staff included!
@@wendyzappone7442 Nice to meet you too Wendy. I’ve got lots of Princess cruises booked for 2025 & I’m on A&G’s Star group cruise & their Solar Eclipse cruise in 2026👋
I have been solo traveling for over 40 years. I have only been solo cruising for a little over 3 years. I love the flexibility of being solo. I also love the extra layer of protection that both cruising shore excursions provide. When I went to Panama last year, a friend commented that I was brave to go alone. I reminded her that a cruise ship is a controlled environment, and shore excursions are another level of security. I have completed nine solo cruises in the last three years, and I went to some places I otherwise would not have ventured.
We are on the other side and face the Temple of Olympian Zeus. The street traffic is actually mesmerizing. And we look forward to breakfast on the rooftop with the view of the Acropolis!
I agree Allison re traveling solo on a cruise ~ I feel safe! Though I enjoy cruising with my husband too, cruising solo (for me) is lovely respite care. Absolutely feel safe traveling solo!👌🏻 @LetsGoTravelTips
We left Le Havre yesterday. Our next two ports Bilbo and Vigo have been cancelled. The Regal added Cork for Wednesday. Our stop in Portugal on Sunday is still scheduled. The rest of the crossing to Galveston has not been affected. Thanks to Hurricane Kirk. Mother nature can be fickle
A neighbor is planning to fly to Jordan in a week. What a mess. I have always wanted to see Petra, but I doubt I'll ever feel safe traveling in that general area. At 70, I do not think it will get better in my lifetime.
We stayed in Athens recently at The Royal Olympic Hotel on Athanasiou Diakou across the road from the Temple of Kronos and Rhea thoroughly recommend it Alison hope you make time for shopping in Plaka 😊
Did you consider staying in Europe after your Azamara cruise and just flying to meet your husband in Athens later? Four transatlantic flights in such a short time must be very expensive and exhausting.
We are going to Hawaii and the South Pacific with friends. I am the ONLY one who wants to snorkel non Stop, so I will have to take shore excursions alone. I hope it is ok.
What I would really like is “Whats the Athens Gate Hote😢 like”. Not your one night stay. Looking at. 2027 cruise and want to make the best of our trip.
We stayed here last March and were so pleased we stayed here again. Here is our review from that trip: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YUM6BXwl2wU.html We will likely update everyone about it in the coming days again. Thanks for watching.
My husband is not a traveler so I may have to go solid at some point in time however I am an introvert and the thought of traveling alone gives me high anxiety.
I felt that way also but after trying it once I was hooked. Presently on the Majestic having a wonderful time and enjoying meeting new people for as short or long as comfortable.
I traveled alone on 8 land tours after my husband died. I was extremely anxious before the first one but it got easier with every trip. I have not tried going solo on a cruise yet. You do have to pay a single supplement on both land or sea trips so it will cost more. But you can do more than you believe you can !!
Hi Allison! I am doing a similar cruise one year from now. I have booked a hotel in Athens for 2 nights pre-cruise. Do you recommend 3 nights or more? This will be my first time in Athens. Thanks!
Depends on how much you want to do and how intense you are. You can definitely see enough highlights in the 2 nights as a sampler, letting you then plan for more in-depth if you ever return.
