Yes, i took all nine different cups that i had my Gluhwein in, home with me as souvenirs....i have boots, a snowman, and other Christmas themed mugs, that hand on the wall, above the mantel in our diningroom! The 2 Christmas market cruises were my 2 favorite River cruises. Vickie from SE Pa USA

It's true. You get bored of castles. I live in the vally (a few miles north of Rüdesheim) and the last time I visited a castle was 2011/12. I think. @22:50 Reibekuchen/Kartoffelpuffer. We loved the Rudeshein coffee on our river cruise. My father is German and, as a vhild, we'd have pork roast, potato pancakes, sauerkraut, and homemade applesauce for many winter Sunday dinner.

10:13 You are not totally wrong with "deutsche Suppe", David! Some restaurants and pubs here in Germany make a joke and describe beer as "Kaltes Schaumsüppchen von Hopfen und Malz auf Bierdeckel" - cold frothy soup of hops and malt on a beermat.

This episode is so funny to me. Mexican churros in Germany being used to dip into chocolate, a chocolate banana that was first developed on Balboa Island in California, and bread bowls originally used in San Francisco for clam chowder as a way to use up the sourdough from Boudin's. How the heck do the two of you stay so slender??

We were on AmaMagna ship this year. Was amazing. Ama Waterways has the best crew and food. You should try AmaMagna because it is differwnt than any other river ship.

The potatoes pancake is called Latka . It is one of the foods to celebrate Hanukkah. Most eat it with apple sauce or sourcream. I'm not Jewish myself but have them every year to celebrate the 8 nights of oil.

Thanks for taking us along. We "did" the Rhine several years ago in November on Viking and I recall getting back to the warm ship after a cold excursion. By the way, watching you indulge doesn't make me fat, although maybe it does.
