This is an overhaul of this Crusader 454. The engine was overheated due to restrictions in the raw cooling system and a broken bolt in on the raw water pump bracket. The engine broke #1 piston and luckily it didn't ruin anyting else too drastic. We bored it .030 over and installed new Eagle connecting rods in the process. Boat is a 33' Tiara port side . I think the boat is a 1991. This engine was originally a Gen 4 and it was replaced with a Gen 6 previously in it's life.

Amazing how quiet those engines are, both at idle and 3500 rpms. Looking at the bore during the teardown the scoring looked horrific. Great that you could clean it up without sleeving the block. Nice repair.

Another top job. Nicely done. Didnt think that bore would clean up with a 30thou overbore. Looked a lot worse.

Hi, I just found your videos, and I'm reuiblding the same exact engine. Cylinders #1 and #2 are getting way to hot, but I'm not sure why. Have y'all had any experience with that same thing? Any recommendations?

Sounds like detonation. What is the tip RPM? Boat propped correctly?

When you bore .030 over do you bore just the effected cylinder ? Or do you do them all the holes?

All of them 99% of the time.

They won't service anyone's boat if you don't live in the city of Lakeland fyi.. I even asked the guy could I bring it to shop and he said no. Very rude. Not sure why they have a public RU-vid page.

Correct. We don't have enough help currently to properly support out of town work. We like to sea trial our engines and that's hard to do when they aren't close to us. We wern't rude. We are honest and spoke the truth.
