Get 2 used/cheaper WiFi6 routers like an RT-AX53U (although there are better ones, but they're usually $40), install OpenWRT and use a WiFi to Ethernet bridge with those. I've had really good success in the replace where I CANNOT run cables and my clients only had WiFi 5 or just generally shit connectivity. WiFi 6 router to router is a livesaver. My main routers get between 1.5-2Gbit between them

The Montech Air 903 Base has a 140mm fan in back that matches the two in front. For mine, I moved the rear fan to the front (requires adjusting positions of all three) and added one I had on hand in back. There's also the Max version that comes with all four fans; they're RGB, but easy to turn off.

Hello Daniel, after more than a year of watching all your videos meticulously multiple times, I finally built a gaming pc too, based on your most recent recommendations in this video (ended up going for a 7600 and 4070 ti super, Alan Wake 2 at 1440p was my goal here). After fifteen years of gaming on a console, I am extremely happy with my return to pc gaming. Thank you so much for the great content and your advice! I will continue to follow your channel. Great pc parts list! Provided that you don't care about upscaling or ray tracing, you can also get the 7900xt for about $690. About the same raw performance as the 4070 ti super and 20gb vram vs 16gb on the 4070 ti super. If you want to go for more value, you can go with the 7900gre. About 13% less raw performance than the 4070 ti super, but it offers what it does at a much more affordable $530. (16gb memory, 13% slower than the 4070 ti super, but it is 31% cheaper).

@williehrmann
@williehrmann Месяц назад
I've never doubted that. I bouoght mine straight when everybody was making "don't buy this GPU videos about it." It is literally the only true 1440p card besiders the 4080 / super NVidia offers while the 4090 is the only true 4k card. Everything else is a 1080p card with 1440p available in most 2 years old or older games if you wanna go DLSS balanced at least. For me a true resolution xy card has to put stable 60 fps with DLSS at quality in that resolution in every game maxed out to the absolute max. The 4070 ti super falls short in that only in alan wake at the moment, but we have Frame gen at least and the 4080 isn't better a bit. If you'd measure by that game only the 4090 is a true 1440p card.
@puffyips

I feel like saving money on PSU cost you more in the long run. I've paired my i5 2500k and Titan with Enermax 920W and today it is still alive and kicking, powering 5960X (200W+ TDP with OC) and RTX3070. Similarly my main workstation still runs on Corsair AX1500i and, unless standards drqstically change or a lightning finally fries it, it will last another decade. Quality PSUs lasts for multiple generations. Conversely my friends spent more on PSUs over the same period of time by going bare minimum, either by the virtue of needing more power for upgrade or PSU just giving up after being constantly abused at 95% rated capacity after a period.

Have paired it with a Sony M9 4K HDR600 144hz monitor and I run at high with frame generation on for a smooth experience in modern games, performance is good enough that I can add some light RT in games like Cyberpunk, but I must add that it’s important to choose an RX 7800 XT from a good board partner. I got the XFX Merc black edition, this comes with a factory OC that can be easily extended through AMD’s adrenaline software for this kind of performance.

I like to have a lot M.2 places SSD: Lexar NM790 4TB (I am in Germany, and they are priced well here, and I use a lot of storage) GPU: RX 7900 GRE (I play on 1440p, like to try Linux and the 4070 Super doesn't give me enough FPS with RT on to be interesting for me and I would overclock) Case: Lian Li Lancool 3 (have the Lancool 3 at the moment and I love it, so I don't think I could go with another one) PSU: Probably 850W+ just to be sure

Good point the 4070 Super likely does not give enough RT performance either way. I have the Lian Li case with Auros Master and the air flow is super great . If your only worried about gaming/lite productivity then likely a 7900* is the best value but according to recent bench marks the NVIDIA is still a must needed tool for 3d artists and other workflows in AI. Rasterization = AMD and NVIDIA = Ray Tracing. I'm just playing AC, Rfactor2, Fifa, and Iracing so the 7800X3d with 6800 worked for me. Linux runs on my Macbook in a virtual machine. :(
@cybernd6426
@cybernd6426 Месяц назад
@@RickBeacham yeah no the 4070 Super doesn't give enough performance for me on 1440p. At least according to the benchmarks of Daniel owen. And yeah I am aware that the 4070 Super is better for workloads, but I don't really use them, and if I do something for 3D rendering it is just an SLC file to something my 3D printer to understand. And that takes way less time than the print either way. Even with a RX 480 8GB And yeah the Lancool 3 is awesome. Needed to clean mine a few days ago, and how it is build just made it so much easier I actually play a lot of AAA and heavy games (although I now play more Indie games at the moment). But want FPS around 90, because 60 FPS doesn't feel great for me. Even in single player games. And that is hard enough to hit either way on 1440p. So I don't think RT will be important for me at this point. Especially not if I would play indie I also don't use Linux at the moment, but thinking of switching more and more. Especially now that most games I play, that didn't run before, work on Linux. Also tried it on my steam deck, and it is really cool that they now work. Which I didn't expect. But I would like to put it on another SSD before I switch, because I can't really use one of the ones already in my PC. And then just see how it works for 30 days

In my experience, Arctic's fans actually have a somewhat annoying whine when they're running at about 40% speed (at higher speed they become louder but less annoying). If you want silent across a wide range of speeds, a Noctua air cooler is probably a better choice (but comparatively more expensive - you'll be paying as much for a single Noctua fan as you would for three Arctic fans).
@cybernd6426
@cybernd6426 Месяц назад
@@RFC3514 I have 3 120mm and 3 140mm arctic 12P ARGB in my case and never had a problem with whine. So idk. But my problem is more when fans go higher and I hear the air moving. So I have good experience with them and personally don't think noctua would be worth the extra money. Especially, because testing from gamers nexus show that the arctic liquid freezer 3 is cooler at the same noise level than a noctua NH-D15
@RFC3514
@RFC3514 Месяц назад
@@cybernd6426 - As long as the processors aren't throttling, you gain nothing by making them a few degrees cooler (especially if you lose in terms of noise). I have a Noctua cooler in one of my old systems and (although it took me a long time to decide, because it was much more expensive than the alternatives), now I consider it one of my best purchases ever. Ten years later it's still working fine and it's absolutely silent. I bought the (Arctic) fans / cooler in my current case after reading reviews, but what most reviews don't tell you is what the noise sounds like (they just measure volume). I ended up changing my fan speed profile manually to try to stay below 30% and then rise quickly to 50%, to avoid the "whiny" part around 40%, but I still notice it.

In motherboard selection I recommended to look at the features and ports he wants and after that make sure it has a good review. Nearly every card in the current generation seems overpriced for the actual performance improvement over the previous generation. The 4070 Super should be a sub-$500 card. Also, a system based on the 5700X3D CPU would be pretty good value for money right now, though less upgradeable in the future.

Only thing I'd like to add is about the case. Often cases come with shit fans that will perform decently and be noisy, you can get a 5 pack Arctic F12 pwm for 25€ (5€ each) and I can tell you from personal experience they're quiet enough to never bother you untill you reach 60/70% of the speed (then they'll be audible, but not annoying) and the airflow will be better too. Never underestimate how much good airflow can change your components temps, and always keep in mind not only GPU and CPU need cooling, but also VRMs on your motherboard and all its integrated chips, storage and RAM too. Pretty excellent guide, nothing insanely pricy but also not a budget build, I'd say the best value for high end PC.
