Linda….how did you get the glass to stay in the frame without adding the back of the frame back on? Are the little clips strong enough to hold the glass in place without the added thickness of the backing?

Oh my goodness, thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. I made a couple of Christmas trees like this with resin, but I like to use it outside because of the fumes, so I was making them in the freezing cold lol. Going to definitely try with the modpodge! Thanks!

Rebecca, I too live in a cold region. I would like to know a little about your process. 1. After you poured the resin, where I’d you leave it to cure? 2. Do you know the temperature of the area you let your project cure? In cold weather I can pour my resin in my garage (65 degrees average) but I am concerned about bringing the item inside to cure. Anyway, any info woukd be appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you! I know I do . So a lot of the art that I do with resin can easily be done with Mod Podge especially if it is done on canvas. The tinier the glass is the better the Mod Podge will hold it together.

@syn707
@syn707 Год назад
This was very important for me. I only have the garage to work and the temperature in ithere during this time of year is not conducive for using resin. I thought I wouldn’t be able to make anything until next year. I can now use the Mod Podge then bring it inside to dry. I am so grateful you did this. What do you think of using Elmer’s Clear glue instead of the Mod Podge??
@crazyglasslady
@crazyglasslady Год назад
Regular Elmer glue will dry foggy. Clear Elmer glue dries clear but the glass becomes difficult to shape like with full strength Mod Podge it clumps together, and is hard to shape. I have used the clear Elmer's glue on the bottom to keep things from moving around then poured Mod Podge over. I am currently doing alot with those rhinestone crystals to hold the shape then I have put the clear Elmers glue over the glass to keep it from moving then putting mod Podge over But I believe the clear Elmers glue would hold it alone. Now Im not sure how evenly you could spread it on the rest of the canvas. Ill send you a pic of something I just made
@crazyglasslady
@crazyglasslady Год назад
Maybe I will release the video of it today so everyone can see. I bet alot of people cant use the resin in their house. Now I use Art resin , thats the brand name and there are not any dangerous fumes.
@syn707
@syn707 Год назад
@@crazyglasslady Hmmm. I’m headed to town in the next few. Maybe I’ll stop by Wal-Mart. I see that they sell it. It’s closer than Jo-Ann’s. I can put everything together in my garage then bring it inside. Thank you!!!
@syn707
@syn707 Год назад
@@crazyglasslady I have seen you use the clear for things many times. What I’m getting from your message is that the glue begins drying quickly and would be very difficult to work with ( ie. beads, correcting objects, etc) after pouring it on. Ok….bad idea! 🙉
@crazyglasslady
@crazyglasslady Год назад
@@syn707 Well the full strength glue or mod Podge just makes everything clump up but look at the new little gingerbread man I made and at the end I show the difference between the 1/2 strenght and full strength

I am so sorry I left that part out.When the tree is dry I replace the glass and run a bead of caulk around the perimeter on the back where the glass meets the frame. You can also put the adhesive down 1st around the perimeter where the glass panel would go and then place the glass on top.I show it in many of my other videos , but forgot to put it in this one. @crazyglasslady
@crazyglasslady 7 месяцев назад
Well Elmers glue does not dry clear. It would hold everything together but would not be the same as gloss Mod Podge. Clear Elmer's glue dries clear but it may peal up easily.
@CricketsBay
@CricketsBay 7 месяцев назад
No. Mod Podge is a water-based polymer (plastic) glue which is waterproof once dry. Elmer's glue is washes off with water after it's dry and peels off glass easily.
