Yeah. Most reasons are for the sense of loneliness and dread, including how Cry of Fear is an accurate portrayal of mental illness, especially with depression.

Me even tho i never played it trough cuz of the backtracking but it has a BIG meaning for me cuz of the story and cuz its relateble

yeah same here, I played it in the perfect time in my life where I related to Simon so much because of health issues. Such a special, sad game. It's also genuinely terrifying. Triple A horror titles wish they were as scary as Cry of Fear.
