thanks for the vid! thought I would mention that the manual for the SPC says to zigzag the bungee from top to bottom, so you end up with an x shape or figure eight. this gives you more elastic tension against stretching, without having to pretension the cord as much. added bonus it makes it even more of a bitch to thread👍
Another tool that helped me out greatly is a lacing tool I used to use in my baseball days for my glove. Its made for leather laces and works great to weave the cord through PALS.
My favorite tool for working with molle is tte hook removal/fish scaler tool found on certain Victorinox swiss army knives. The notch at the end is the shit for helping push stubborn and tight molle straps and for attaching and removing repair buckles.
Hey thanks for the video I’ve got the same carrier. And currently getting mine where I want it as comfortable as possible. I ended up dropping my cummerbund lower like yours and now it’s sitting nice! And I got the trap armor for this from Crye as well. I got the side plates I just upgraded my steel plates that I had from spartan armor to the ultra lightweight ceramics they have level three and they are like 3 1/2 pounds each but I’m trying to build this as minimal as possible that’s exactly why I went with the Airlite carrier to begin with
Just a thought. I'm a normal sized human being (44ish inch chest) and yes I have to thread the Medium sized cumberbund to the very edge of the alternate side, but I've noticed it adds a great measure of stability. I say this with a slick side and steel front and back setup but maybe this was a design feature for the Structural Plate Carrier
@@EODFish Maybe. Little update with fitting experiments: Threading the "top" cumberbund looser than the bottom allows for a more tapered/conformed fit to the lats. But again, this is with slick sides and steel plates (yoga mats cut to shape for "trauma" padding) on the front and back.
@@marcotaggart4572 I don't want to be insulting to you, you've bought one of the best plate Carriers made.. please put ceramic armor in it. Lots of studies showing steel spalls and subsequently kills people, or at least maimes the wearer. I obviously don't know your financial situation, but Hesco L210s are great and pretty inexpensive for life saving equipment.
@@James-WM Ceramic is better than steel only because of weight in my opinion. Steel plates can take multiple rounds from various calibers and still maintain their coating the mitigate "fragmentation".
If you can, I highly recommend not ordering directly from Crye. I had to pay the shipping for an RMA on a defect on the SPC that they first sent me so that they would send me a brand new one.
My cumberbund has to rest like where urs is at too with the maximum overlap, very vital information is missing like how you fished the cords thru the slits every way in doing it seems wrong and the cumberbund won’t retract back to my body when it stretches out from me taking a deep breathe or bending over and pushing my gut out to push the cumberbund.. it’ll stay in the loose position and not retract. Please help Im hating my spc right now haha
@@Andres-nm7rh yea I had to do it a really funky way tho but it works just barley haha that spc cumberbund is actually really nice I like the stiffness it’s just WAY to big I’m 160 5”11 and it barley fits me, If I was any smaller I don’t think I could of made it work.
Great info and I see from the comments people shouldn't be going too small on the cummerbund. I'm older and fatter than I used to be, although working to get in better shape. I've seen chest size mentioned but isn't waist size more relevant for the cummerbund? I'm a 40 for pants size, assuming I'd need a large? thanks very much
@@EODFish ha ha yeah i know, but unless you're fairly slim your stomach will still have an impact on cummerbund size. Surprised on how little info there is on size, based on my chest size I'd be at least a large according to Crye's sizing guide but that apparently is useless?
Just to reinforce that you are correct with your setup, I emailed Crye about sizing and they said the Cummerbund is supposed to overlap. Looks like a lot of others on YT don’t realise that.
@@EODFish my manual literally says to loop the ends together with no overlap. Also I'm a 33 inch chest and a medium airlite structural cummerbund is so big it doesn't work, it overlaps past full.
What’s your chest size? I ordered a medium cummerbund and medium bags. I have a 42” chest and I’m worried the medium cbund will be too big even if it’s threaded all the way through the back.
About a 42”. You will be fine, I’m pretty certain that they intended on a good deal of overlap on the cummerbund. It essentially becomes one piece when overlapped and provides more structure.
Damn, no matter what I do, I can't get my spc cummerbund to expand and contract with my breath. It's either squeezing me to death and I can't breathe, or it's too loose and sloshing around
I'm switching to an SPC from a JPC2.0 so that I can leave one setup at work without carrying it back and forth. What is your thought on the mbitr radio pouch? I've always worn my company issue radio on the left side, on the outside of my left side plate on the cummerbund with the JPC. Now that (a year later) Crye fulfilled my SPC order, I'm not too keen on moving my side plates away from the edge of my front plate to accomodate comms. What are your thoughts on keeping one's radio on the outside of the cummerbund to facilitate 6x6 plates resting against the frong plate?
Any recommendations on finding a good drag handle to mount on the rear plate bag? I’ve looked around for a molle mounted handle which seems to be the only way to mount one on this carrier but there doesn’t seem to be many options.
I actually haven’t ordered one yet. I did call crye today they said my size would be in next month so I’m gonna go that route. I was going off the size on crye webs site is that a problem?
Could you tell me how thick the material that is inside the cbund is .Im doing a custom for someone because crye is shutdown because of the virus. I’m trying to find out how thick the tegris is. Which layer tegris does crye use.
EOD Fish if you get a chance could you maybe take a couple of pennies and compare it .a penny is 1 mm and a nickle is 2 mm i believe. Or maybe a penny and a dime or something .If its close that will be fine .id really appreciate it.
