Classic cars testing - then racing - at the CSCC Oulton Park 2024 race meeting feature in today's video.
On the Friday before race day I headed over to the circuit to see what cars would be testing prior to the CSCC races, and I was not to be disappointed. Quite a variety of cars were already there and in this video I take a close look at many of them, including various Jaguar Mk1 saloons, and chat to the owner of a superb TVR Grantura.
On Saturday - race day - my youthful assistant and I headed over to the race meeting itself, and what a great day we had ogling some fantastic looking and epic sounding cars, both saloons and sportscars.
All manner of cars took part, including Jaguars old and not-so-old, MGs (including The Smallest Cog and Richard Hammond with his MGB GT), TVRs, Austin-Healeys, a rare Opel Commodore coupe, Datsun 240Z, a pair of A40 Farinas, a multitude of Morgans, Hillman Imp, Triumph Vitesse, Lotuses and more.
One of the highlights was definitely seeing so many Jaguar 3.4 saloons (Mk1) competing with each other as part of the Mike Hawthorn Jaguar Challenge for pre-1961 Jaguars. Magic.
Comments, likes and subs welcomed as always, I'll include links to other similar meetings at the end of this one, or else just view the main videos page to find other uploads that might be of interest, most of which feature classic cars in some way or another.
Thanks for watching this Old Classic Car video of the 2024 CSCC (Classic Sports Car Club) racing at Oulton Park in Cheshire.

-10 points for not recognising Rick Wood after talking to Richard Hammond. Very handy with the Capri's is Mr Wood. Some of these days at Oulton are the best, no crowds and good access to see the cars. Another great video, much appreciated. 👍

Thanks for watching, yes I recognised Mr Wood (we've seen him in Capris, and a very quick Skyline iirc also at Oulton)

Thanks for this video, Rick. I would love to go to Oulton Park some day. Too bad it's on the opposite side of the pond. Over here, we frequent Lime Rock for various races when we can, and have been to Watkins Glen, Montreal, and Indianapolis for Formula One. Also a couple of Six Hours at Watkins Glen. This vid was very evocative of Lime Rock Vintage Racing days.

It's certainly a great setting to watch proper old cars in action, thanks for looking in

Thanks for the racing action! I've always found that recording a race to be challenging with so much going on. Wide angle? Telephoto? Will my autofocus keep up? It looked like a great day for recording as the overcast shows the colors better IMHO. Great job!

Thanks, it was a bit of a monster to put together with nearly 400 clips to splice together in the editor ...

👋 Hello. This video takes me back to the 1960s. Watching it reminds me of when my family went to Ardmore race track to watch some motorsport. Let's say the year is 1965. We saw racing Ford Cortinas just like the one in your video , sane colour everything. Small Minis , Jaguars , and some Australian Holdens and Ford Falcons. I would be sitting sipping on my bottle of Coca Cola through a straw and munching on some crisps that my parents had bought for me. Ha!. The cars would have there headlights turned inside out. I thought the front of the cars looked like they had women's breasts. Also looking at that Austin A40 reminds me of Stockcar racing here. In the 1960s the cars had cars such as an A40 body shell over the roll cages. And they were painted like the one in your video. You would have liked that. Stockcars started here in NZ in the mid 1950s. Terrific video . Thanks. From Carl.

I always thought that the XJS should have been fitted with four headlights as original equipment as the oval ones ruined the front view of the car.
