We may have solved our charging problem by purchasing a Ctek battery charger. This model is the Ctek MXS 10 and from what I have found out the Ctek battery charger is one of the best charger/maintainers out there. They also supply own brand chargers to over 40 different manufacturers. #ctek #ctekbatterychargers #rangerover

Best forum for FF’s 👍 Ask on their about doing the turbo hose, there’s probably a sticky/DIY on there.

Had the 5 amp model for coming up on 8 years. Got stuck in a mode - button does not seem to do anything. Still really happy with it. The modular nature makes a nice ecosystem that is definitely worth throwing money at. They will earn their keep so fast - just a single battery saved and it's paid for. Only negative thing is they won't output 12v for fiddling around testing relays etc - but this can be solvef by having an old battery as a buffer. Excellent value for money indeed!

MXS 7 and MXS 10 has the supply mode for that. They outputs 13.6v and with the rated amps. Also the new CS One and Pro25 has supply mode feature.

I have the Ctek for my motorbike 🏍. It's a few years old and is smaller, from memory it is only approx 1amp but it is a good bit of kit. The additional connector with the terminal rings is probably for a motorbike as they are normally well hidden these days and not always under the seat and the terminals and lead make it a really easy solution. That does look awesome with the 13pin charger as well. I like that a lot. Very clever. You are definitely sorted on the charging side of things. Good luck getting your TD6 back

I had a ZX12R and the battery on that was hidden away in the frame. At the time I used an optimate trickle charger on a similar lead.

C trek is good kit I own a few, though one did fail recently it was about 5years old. Only thing that is missing for me is a small display showing charging voltage.

The new CS One or CS Free does that.. has a small display and can also show on smartphone. Theyre quite expensive but..

Any update videos about this charger and charging your batteries? Its an old model now but.. i currently have the MXS 5.0 and it will be a small upgrade for me with the MXS 10. The new CS One and CS Free are too expensive for me. MXS 10 isnt that cheap either but.. ive got twice the charging power and also a supply mode too :) The silicon bumper looks great on. The charger looks proffessional with it on. I know there is a version MXS 10EC that comes with super long cables and the bumper.

It’s still working well, has rescued a couple of batteries, so for me it’s well worth it.

Ben, do you know if you can connect to the large supply cable to the fuse board in the rear offside of the L322? Cheers, Steve.

I would imagine so, the fat red wire in the boot comes from the battery. That’s where I connected the 12v solar panel on my old TD6, never had a flat battery after that and had no problems.

I have a used Range Rover Evoque 34K miles, the C-TEK 7002 worked very well overnight bringing the large battery to battery maintenance mode. The Evoque owners manual say to remove the battery for charging, don't think I want to remove the large battery...
@Bensgarage
@Bensgarage 2 года назад
No, it’s too big too mess about with. If your worried about the car electrics then just disconnect the battery leads and charge the battery while it’s still in the car. Personally I wouldn’t bother, as these ctek chargers are pretty good (intelligent).
@CACTUS48

@@Bensgarage It would be an effort to disconnect the Range Rover Evoque battery terminals, each post has a multiple power connections...

Hey i have LR495 and had a flat battery. M wondering can we charge the battery still terminals connected to car or we have to take the battery out or disconnect the terminals?
@Bensgarage
@Bensgarage 3 года назад
If your using an intelligent charger it should be ok, but if your charger just whacks voltage in then I would at least disconnect the battery terminals.

Liked the review Ben. Don’t know if anyone on here can help, but I have a. 2018 Discovery sport and was considering buying the charge Ben reviewed but 2 things are making me wonder if I should. I noticed that CTEK now produce a charger for the cars with stop start, I would buy the charger reviewed if it made no difference. The second put off is the owners manual that says you can’t charge the battery yourself go to an authorised dealer. Not having used the vehicle as much as usual I keep getting the start the engine warning and have to go on unnecessary long runs in it. I have no problem charging but would appreciate any advice. TIA Dave

I would imagine that the stop/start version is because the stop/start cars use a different battery. Not sure of the difference but I noticed there were options when I fitted a new battery to my TDV8. And the part about not charging the battery yourself! If it were me I would charge it at home, unless the mechanics at Land Rover are going to do something to stop extra power surges from potentially damaging ecu's. I would get in contact with Ctek and see what they say.

Start and stop are usually using AGM batterys, i think mostly of Cteks chargers has a AGM mode which charges them with 14.7v

Hey Ben I bought the ctek for my Range Rover been charging for 7 hours still in number two? How can I tell if it’s charging do the lights change colour?
@Bensgarage
@Bensgarage 3 года назад
Yes the lights progress along as it’s doing it’s thing. Depending on the state of the battery depends how long it takes.
@orfeous
@orfeous Год назад
If the battery are low on charge it can take several hours to charge. It can have several variables why it takes time. What capacity the battery has, temperature, condition of the battery. etc.. Step 1 and 2 does usually skips through quite fast.. step 3 can take a long time if the battery is low on charge. Step 4 is when the battery has reached about 80% SOC.

1. Why do ctek, make for 40 manufacturers? 2. You mean they make it for third party companies and it doesn't have cteks name on it but the third party name?
@Bensgarage
@Bensgarage 3 года назад
Some high end cars come with a trickle charger (not sure if it’s an option). So the charger that comes with that brand of car has the car manufacturers brand on it but is made by ctek.
