Our day begins with a visit to the stunning Tan Dinh Church, followed by an immersive exploration of the historic Củ Chi Tunnels. After experiencing the vibrant streets of Ho Chi Minh City on day one and the tranquil waters of the Mekong Delta on day two, today we delve underground to uncover the secrets of the Củ Chi Tunnels.
First, I reached the narrow tunnel entrance and descend into the depths of history. Covering the hatch, I emerged with a profound appreciation for the resilience and ingenuity of the Viet Cong soldiers. The tunnels range in depth, with some extending 30 meters and others reaching 100 meters. I braved the 30-meter tunnel, crawling like a baby through the increasingly narrow passages - it was physically exhausting but incredibly enlightening.
After resurfacing, I explored the various deadly traps demonstrated by our guide, showcasing the clever tactics used by the Viet Cong. Next, I visited the shooting range, where an array of bullets and firearms were on display. (Note: there is an additional cost for shooting the firearms).
I then learned about the ingenious bamboo water piping, followed by a detailed presentation of a miniature model of the Củ Chi Tunnels. The model provided a comprehensive overview of this intricate underground network.
Finally, I concluded our adventure with a culinary treat - trying the beloved Vietnamese dish, Phở (Pho).
