Here is a video on my 1972 cub cadet 86. Got this one February of 2023 from wilkes-barre Pennsylvania without an engine. I then put an engine in it from another 86, got that running and now it’s a great little machine!
My old landlord had an 86 and he spent five months trying to get it running with no luck, he finally gave up and told me I could have it. I took it to the house and ran some sandpaper between the points and it fired right up.
That’s why I love the older ones, so easy to work on. I picked up an old wheel horse with a Kohler a few months ago, was sitting about 5 years, spent all of maybe 2 minutes doing the points and it started right up and ran great even with old fuel in it
For this one I got a set that was off a 149, if your looking for a set I would check eBay…. If you’re on Facebook there’s a few cub cadet groups on there, you could make a post and I’m sure there’s a few people who have one they could ship to you
