I have the exact same setup on a cub GT50. Works reasonably well for keeping a gravel driveway cleaned up and graded. Wouldn't try much more than that with it. Mainly because the adjustment is limited compared to a full size tractor and hitch. But if you just want a little light grading it's perfect. I leave the sleeve hitch on all the time as well. Never get around to taking the deck off. Weight doesn't seem to matter.
I just bought the mounting plate and converted it to use a heavy linear actuator.it has a one k lift just have to be careful of down pressure but otherwise it works great.
I got a GT50 Cub Cadet this year and love it. Thanks for showing this and confirming that the sleeve hitch is required for hook up to the Brinly Box Scrapper. I was going to go without it also until I saw your video. I'll add this to my collection of attachments that include a cub snow bower, cub hauler, Brinly moldboard plow( buying now), plus the belly 50inch blades to cut 7 acres of lawn.
That hitch you put on your tractor is a sleeve hitch, not a 3 point. That box scrape is a scrape, not a plow. The one thing you are correct about is the new Cub Cadets are made by many troubles daily, MTD for short.They have been worth anything for tractor work since International sold out.
uhm thank you for your video... I was informed on your setup; I started giving up on seeing how it works at about 5 min. I learned things and thank you for sharing but dang I wanted to see how it works!
It is very useful i have used it often. I plan to use it over next few days. I have used it on driveway many times and also leveling ground out in my yard as well. Just have to take it slow so i dont tear mower up in process. But cheaper then renting a bobcat to do work.
@@johnagsmith2364 thank you for your reply. does it work on hard ground to refresh it if you wet it down or do after rain? I was also wondering what model your lawn tractor is, I am going this weekend to look at a 2013 cub cadet 1054 but not sure how robust they are.
@@glen3257 sorry so slow, i dont always get notifications of messages. Mine is a XT1 think 2016 model. Hard ground it takes a lot of time to do much on my gravel driveway it works just fine..

Great review John! I have the same cub you have but i have not bought one of these sleeve hitches because my back tires are 20" and the warning I have seen say the back tires must be at least 23". Could you tell me what size your back tires are?
Sorry just saw comment, I had look and mine are 20" x 8 not sure why the size matters. Maybe had to do with clearance but I have used mine with no problems. Good luck
I found on Cubs' website that only the XT2 & 3 should be used to pull a box scraper. I looked into it further and found that some XT2's come with the K46 transmission that is standard on the XT1. My LT50 has a 725cc 24HP Kohler, again shared with some 2's and in some cases providing more power than other options. So why the bloody hell does it matter? ... Confused? ... Do you feel that your box scraper is causing unnecessary wear to your machine?
I have had no problems with using it. I use it mostly to smooth out driveway and dirt around house. I think i used it dozen times so far. And to be fair i damaged the box scraper bent it couple time catching on larger rocks. I'm sure in time it could effect drive train but cheaper to replace that then my back doing same work.
Helpful video. I have an XT1 42 inch LT. Is yours an Xt1 50 or another model. The OEM hitch mentioned below is not supposed to work on an XT1 42 LT so I'd like to know if yours is the same model. Love the idea of doing some gardening with it!
mine is xt1 50" I know it mentioned not for ground engagement equipment. But I don't get to aggressive with it. I mostly used rear scraper for repair to driveway and level out areas of my yard.
Supposedly this sleeve hitch doesn't work on an XT1 LOL...its only supposedly able to be used on an XT2 or XT3 garden tractor HAHA!!! Still haven't got one. I bought a tractor instead.

It is a box scraper sold by northern tools. And I describe at end they sell the plow version basically the same thing. Just not side parts and front scraper.
