Cubase's new STOCK Orchestra shouldn't be FREE! Iconica Sketch playthrough! 

Never mind Iconica, what's most impressive here is Dom's ability to make orchestral instruments sound great played live. Dom you're a class act, and a cut above the rest.

It's very good that Cubase Pro 13 comes with a high-quality orchestra with common basic functions. Thank you Dom for showing it to us.

The sounds are impressive, great presentation Dom! Iconica Opus covers much more that Iconica Sketch provides but to get this included in Cubase is crazy!

In the early 80s I taught the Yamaha Electone Course and sold Yamaha organs. I had a musical awakening when I realized the best way to demonstrate the sounds on the organs was to play in the range and manner of the real instruments. You my friend, know that in your soul. This is an amazing presentation of what these instruments can do. Thank you.

I must say Dom, last year or so....your video showcasing Iconica Ensembles in a pop production inspired me so much I bought that package IMMEDIATELY. Great video, so huge thanks for that. Hey Dom! I love the arrangements you do! Could you maybe at some point make a tutorial for mixing great orchestras? Especially how to mix romantic pieces like the soundtrack from Joe Black❤ There are many tutorials how to mix orchestras, but there are barely ones for gentle orchestrations

It sounds great and a really good thing for people to get included with Cubase. I suspect it's good for Steinberg to include it too as they'll probably get a lot more sales of the big Iconica library as a result of people upgrading now they're paying attention to it rather than going straight to one of the big names in orchestral libraries.

Excellent playing and demonstration of the sounds! Especially impressed by the flutes, horns, and those celli. My one wish is that orchestra sounds like these had a way to lessen the room sound/reverb. They're incredible for everything big and epic but often when getting them to gel with real miced instruments the reverb is too much. I end up trying to use an envelope shaper or other tools to try and lessen the falloff a bit, but that can only do so much.

sounds amazing for built in. Definitely something I might use to pre-sketch out before going down the tweaking rabbit-hole of something like BBCSO - though some of those sounds are actually better for specific moments, like the brass rasp.

Hello Dom! You have a ton of great videos on Cubase. Thank you for sharing all that knowledge and passion. Have you ever thought about putting together a complete beginner through advanced Cubase downloadable video series outside of RU-vid and selling it. I would buy it and I bet many others would. I would love a video that shows how to create different types of templates. Especially an orchestral one. I own a copy of Cubase Pro 12 and want to upgrade to 13 but truth be told I haven’t opened Cubase Pro 12 that much because it’s intimidating to me and I don’t know where to start.

Fabulous demo Dom. Iconica Sketch is worth its weight in gold and it is free in CB 13! One could spend upwards of £400 getting something similar. This is the reason I will be upgrading to Cubase 13 Pro very shortly.

I love that I bought Iconica last year, only to have this released this year... Yeah the full version has a lot more, but this seems to have most of what I needed 😭

Finally, a library that gives an English horn. Missing in many high priced libraries.

How did you manage to change your cc1 controller for sketch? Can't seem to find an option for that. Great video!

Re-arranged a Christmas Song with this. And I found it real easy on the PC to compose with.

Steinberg make good instruments and effects when they create from scratch without taking inspiration from elsewhere, plugins like ICONICA Sketch, vocalchain, vocoder, voxcomp and blacvalve are very good in my opinion. They must make Cubase different from the rest of the DAWs, have a unique personality and always improve it. If Cubase will remain similar to other daws on the market, it will lose popularity along the way and then users, Steinberg must understand that their ideas are better than those of other producers.

Thanks for driving me mad for 5 minutes, couldn't remember where I had heard that theme before, then suddenly I remembered. It is the theme from The Crown - Hans Zimmer.

Hey dom, I've been watching a bunch of your videos and I want to get into making some music. Does this library come with the cheapest version of Cubase? If not, do you think it's worth getting the version that does if someone is new to using DAWs?

Its fun for sure ive played around with it in Cubase 13. Its crazy how steinberg threw that in there :) i still prefer my Spitfire BBC symphony Orchestra but for free (kinda...ya still gotta buy cubase 13) but sketch is fantastic :)

Hi Dom. I was really impressed with the sounds that you were getting out of this orchestra. However; I would like to know what is the name of the volume controller that you were using with your left hand for the violins and the rest of the string instruments? Can you give me some idea of the cost of those controllers? I have never used one of those before. I am not even sure if I am giving it the correct name but, it seems like you are controlling the dynamics of the string instruments with your left hand. I would appreciate you talking about that (gadget, controller or what ever it is called). I absolutely loved how you used it with this orchestra. You made it sound so realistic. As usual you make all of your videos so special and I love your enthusiasm when you are sharing your knowledge with all of the instruments and plug-ins you introduced to us. Thank you for sharing. Hi, this library is just for the people who uses cubase 13th or you can download freely as vst instruments and use it in a notation program, I have cubase artist 6 or 7, but I never use it, because I don't work on MIDI. By the way congratulations for the video.

Makes me wonder if it would be useful to map the aftertouch to the same CC as the modulation wheel. Then you get get swells without taking your hands off the keyboard. I'll have to try it and see if it is workable. But first I'll have to get the Cubase 13 upgrade!

Can this be used to sound like the Beatles stuff? whenever i watch videos on this sort of thing it always sound like Harry Potter or Pirates of the Caribbean , Don't get me wrong it sounds great but I'd love to see an example of it used in non dramatic movie stuff.

@DomSigalas - I am a Loyal Cubase 12 Pro user. My question is; why do you think Cubase is not spoke about more in the recording industry like FL Studio or Pro Tools is? Personally, I think Cubase has more to offer and is a bit more in depth than other DAW's.

Does anybody know if you can use the sustains/legatos etc. and record dynamic levels on the fly without a CC1 controller? I have a cheap keyboard without CC1 on it and it only plays the notes at their softest (ppp). I'm obviously able to change this after by writing in automation for modculation/CC1, but was wondering if anybody was familiar with this.

Quite nice. I am thorn ief I should pick this for the start ir if I should blow the bank with hollyfood fantasy... Umpf hollywood fantasy has such epic stuff, notably the choirs and percussions. But then I make mostly rock orchestra and need to get away from the pretty bad stock cubase sounds in hallion and this is a cheap option. Most important is woodwinds and by far brass for me... Which yes the raspy brass here sounds very good Also thought about buying fantasy brass and winds... But these percussions n choirs are dilicious Ahhhhh dont wanna break se bank

Hi Dom. One more question. When I upgrade to Cubase 13 I am understanding that Iconica Sketch is included in the upgrade to Cubase 13 but, do I also have to learn how to install Iconica separately from the upgrade? Please explain this to me. I am not sure if I understanding the inclusion of Iconica and the installation part of it. I was hoping that when I upgrade to Cubase 13 the Iconica Sketch would be installed automatically.
