No one compares to Simeon when it is about to present us VST instruments because he is a real piano player. Personally that makes a huge difference and it allows to make a much better decision about whether or not the library will be something that I want to purchase. PS: thank you your previous presentation I purchased Andrew's library 'Cinevox' and I am having a blast with it in my next project :)

So true 👍!!! Definitely much better demo'd by a player, than synth noodler! Yes I bought Cinevox as more my type of vocal library with mix of real & AI gen vocals 😎👍🎹🎵🍻

I must absolutely 100% totally agree with you Guy!! When you’re actually an experienced pianist with years of development, it’s so much easier to use these stunning sound libraries and create quality music, which is a testament to both you and the technology your using properly! There’s so many less than average ‘musicians’ - actually non-musicians who call themselves “Producers” 😂? Like, ‘really?’ They drop in looped audio and pre-made midi phrases that people like us can just play, because we’re ’REAL’ musicians with actual TALENT who have been studying, learning, perfecting and working on our performance craft for simply decades. All the ‘so called’ musicians and producers better watch out, as they’ll be replaced with AI music, but us guys who have the musical training and advanced knowledge will survive and rise above!!!!

Hello my dear friend, yes, this was a fun experience. I think those songs in that Gilligan’s Island episode have stuck with me for years. “Neither a borrower or a lender be, do not forget, stay out of debt!”, so classic. It was a shame that Mr. Hecuba would not take them off the island 🏝️😂 Thanks as always for your kindness and encouragement!

WOW, Simeon. Missed you live by a bit! Great showcase! Your playing is outstanding as always! I'm in the process of cleaning up my effect plugins and it's amazing what you can do with some of those using just one preset and trying out different effects. Opens up a whole new sonic world!

Hey Simeon! What are your performance setup for iconica sketch? i remember that iconica ensembles you had to optimize max preload to run perfectly.

Hello my friend. In this case performance was less of a concern as Steinberg has worked to fine tune this particular title. The only thing I remember doing in this case was bump my voice count up to 512 😎 I do forget how things were setup before and sometimes only check if I run into some specific issue, in this case everything ran smoothly.

When you stated that your sketch was done in one instance of Halion/Sonic, how is that accomplished in terms of workflow? - Thanks

If you look around the 24:00 minute mark you can see in the one instance of HALion Sonic I have multiple instruments loaded. This makes it easy to setup preset templates, layers, splits, many possibilities without having to load multiple instances of the instrument. In this case I address the parts using different MIDI tracks assigned to the respective MIDI channel. It helps to keep things a little more manageable having to deal with only one virtual instrument. You can also send the parts to different audio outputs and route effect sends from within HALion Sonic itself. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

Hi, i remember i once watched your garritan cfx VST, can i ask how it compares to the other VSTs you've reviewed. Sound quality of the end product is my primary concern. Things like Low noise floor and great details across all frequencies.

The Garritan CFX is really a wonderful virtual piano. It does have some miles on it due to how long ago it was released. It does have a somewhat noticeable noise floor, but hey it's Abbey Road ;^). You can overcome some of it with adjusting mic levels and eq. I would recommend the FULL version for the extra mics and such. it is one of the few virtual pianos that have a true Una Corda (soft pedal) layer which is very nice. I would say they did a beautiful job overall capturing this. Thanks for watching.

@@PraiseTracks thanks for the reply, yes I'll be purchasing the full version of course. Interesting to learn how to reduce the noise floor to a minimum with mic settings. I'd appreciate a few tips of the top of your head if u remember of course) if not. All good, I think I won't find a better sounding vst than full version of garritan anyway. I really want them high res samples since I do have a pretty good hi-fi system ( very good dac, pricey and well built tube amp, neutral sounding speakers - it was a long journey too 😂)

Sorry. Yes, you have adjustments for the reverb send levels and much more inside of the HALion / HALion Sonic engine. There of course is the original room sound that adds it’s own ambience and since it was recorded it is like trying to unbake a cake. I hope that helps. Joyfully yours.

Erik, it is not included in the FREE HALion Sonic 7 Player but it is included with HALion Sonic 7 Collection and HALion 7.

In a way. They have reduced the total instrument size in such a way to maintain what I think is surprising quality. Sketch also features a newly imagined mix profile that differs from Ensembles. Sketch is a great option where you need a lean orchestral collection and is perfect for mobile compositions when using a laptop. Thanks for watching.

Thanks Simeon, I'm trying to decide if I should buy ensembles for £257 or just upgrade from Cub 12 to 13 for £85. Think I'll wait to see if Ensembles goes on sale for black Friday@@PraiseTracks
