What is it about Grandpa's? Even Joseph has a special bond with his Grandpa...I have never seen Joseph cuddle like that, especially with his sweet little head buried in Grandpa's chest...💖💖

One of the characteristics that I love about the Umbrella Cockatoo is that they are a cuddly bird. We have had our Umbrella Cockatoo from 6 months old and is now 24 years old. I name him Angel because of his white and yellow coloring with the blue ring around the dark brown eye reminded me of the angels of the Bible. Watching your Joseph is just like watching our Angel. The characteristics are identical. Personally I think they should have called these birds love birds, because they are so loving and cuddly.
Hi Joseph and Joseph's parents! ❤ I have an idea/suggestion that I think is very important and crucial: As parrot owners, you guys should do an informative video on the pros and cons and level of commitment etc of owning a parrot or cockatoo. Tell people about the parrot and their diet and behaviour etc, how long it takes to gain trust and how important patience is with parrots etc, just everything. The reason I say this is because a lot of people watching these wonderful videos of Joseph's good and cute and funny moments don't know what goes on behind the scenes and how much hard work it is to keep a parrot safe and happy. Based on lovely videos people buy a parrot but have no knowledge or patience for them and when the parrots don't quickly act or talk like what they saw in the videos, they quickly give up and sell them again (or get angry at them). And being sold from home to home and back to a rescue shelter is all too common for parrots it's heartbreaking and messes them up mentally (it's like a child having to move from one family to another their whole lives)! The way to prevent people from doing this and quickly selling them again or harming them due to lack of patience and love etc is to educate people about the parrots and prepare them before they buy or rescue one. Of course you'd have to prepare all the important notes you have to talk about but please it would be so great if you guys could do such a video talking about the key points to keep in mind about getting a parrot. Mention the hard work and the strict diet (what's toxic, what's bad) and exercise they need everyday, and not keeping dogs or cats with them (their saliva is toxic to birds and dogs and cats are predators by nature whereas birds are prey by nature so it's extremely risky), the level of commitment you need (which is a life commitment) and more patience than ever, keeping doors and windows closed when they're out of the cage, the rewards you get from taking good care of your parrot, how to keep the environment clean and their toys and how big the cage should be and what to put in there and how to listen to their needs and not take things they do personally etc etc the list is big but easy and incredibly important. You can also direct them to support groups on Facebook and also advise them to call an avian vet in their area to ask all the questions they need. You'd be doing Joseph and all of his avian kind a great service by educating people! And you'd be saving the lives of many parrots because you educated their future parents! ❤ Thank you for your wonderful videos and sharing his beautiful moments with us! x
Thank you freja, as we are both super busy with working and else... it is kind of hard to plan for a complete educational video but we definitely keep this in mind and if we get a chance we might do like once a week of educational type. Beautiful. Birds do love head scratches - something they do to each other naturally. Birds preen each other, so if they don't have a bird companion, which is most natural, then the human must be that companion.
He is so precious and clearly loves his grandpa. You guys are so gentle with him and he is so disciplined. I watched one video of a guy who had one like him and I swear the bird was possessed made me wonder if the owner was too. It was creepy. Joseph is just so sweet and loving you guys are so blessed.
Hello! I called in last week to chat on RU-vid with your family and I have and announcement to make. I am making the leap in acquiring a little friend for companionship, I have watched and followed several owners for about two years now and my love and will has only grown stronger. I particularly Love your family with Joseph and Max and Harley as I watch you guys the most. So I ordered a large cage just to push myself over the edge and start the process of building a space in my home where a Cockatoo could live happily and feel warm at it's knew home. In the coming days and weeks I would like to really communicate with you guys and get vital information as well as build a friendly relationship. Pernilla Hansson that's very true, any licensed avian vet will tell you never to touch birds anywhere other than their heads and neck because other places cause arousal and they will get stressed and hormonal and some more bite-y and frustrated because of it. It's fun for us to touch them in places other than their heads and neck, and we may even think they want it cause they act cuddly (unfortunately birds are not like our furry pets), but it's cruel to them because they get aroused and they have no female/male to act on those feelings and hormones. Those places should be left to only be touched by an avian partner if they have one (if someone has a male and a female).
