My 8 and 10 yr old daughters walk a quarter mile at 6am to 4 way stop because the Forman for the bus garage says it's not possible to turn around in my cul de sac. I saved your video to educate them. Thanks much!
Many districts have policies restricting school buses from accessing cul de sacs. Too often, vehicles are parked in the cul de sac. When this happens, getting a bus out of the cul de sac becomes challenging and in some instances, impassable for the bus. For this reason, many busses are routed to avoid this scenario.
As a school bus driver in training, it is illegal here in Alberta to back a school bus on a public road. With any cars in the way, this would be the only way to get the bus put. I guess it depends on your jurisdiction :)
I start training in a few days on the road. The county I'm training in says turning around in cul-de-sac is fairly normal. I hope the route I get doesn't have any. I don't think he beep beeped the horn. I don't see the need when you have such a loud backup alarm. Apparently they consider clipping a mailbox as egregious as running into something.
Hello Ms. Therese I know this is extremely late so I hope you see this and are able to respond. I am hoping to start training on a flat nose bus to drive and I was wondering, if you still do these videos, could you make a couple more for left turns and backing?? Thanks in advance.
@@SchoolBusSass I actually watched your turning videos, thank you for those. But I meant more so left turn videos similar to the right turn videos you have. With both interior and exterior angles.
if that's a cab forward design bus he definitely could have just turned that bus with out turning around you screwed him up by talking he never should have BACKED UP
Not all cul-de-sacs are large enough to make the entire circumference, w/o backing. This demonstrates how to manage a space that will not allow the bus to complete the turn around in an all forward motion, w/o hitting mailboxes, light posts, or fire plugs...or anything else that might be there. Which adds an additional reason you may not be able to drive the circumference.
